Went to Sportsman for a family lunch on a sunny Sunday. Location was great with views over the water meadows. Beer was OK but the food was terrible, over cooked fish and burger cooked till grey and chewy, veggies not cooked properly either. Very limited vegetarian options. Wont go there again. Oh and staff had no idea about wifi either.

We stayed at this Inn and then moved on to a Wedding we were going to. This place is full of rustic charm, and it was clearly a place all the locals used. We arrived, shown our room, which was pretty good and very clean and then set off to the Bar and enjoyed a glorious meal. Any one can... More

Last year I wanted to keep this pub a secret all to myself. Last week, sticky tables, surly inattentive staff, very limited menu and greasy chicken Kieve and cold greasy potatoes. Has the pub had a change of ownership. Very dissapointed as it isn't close by and made a special visit taking family with us for a special occasion.

This is the second time I've had lunch here and it has been very good on both occasions. The staff are friendly, helpful and are happy to accommodate changes in menu if reasonable. The pub is dog friendly and the views of the south downs from the garden are fantastic.

This used to be one of the best pubs for Sunday lunch in Sussex, a little more expensive but well worth it. Today we wanted a special day out as life was getting us down but instead of a great day out we ended up with a second class meal that could have been yesterdays left overs reheated. No choice... A family outing for Sunday lunch. Stopped at The Sportsman and to our delight this fab eatery has amazing views of Amberley Woodbrooks. The food is 5 🌟and the staff were pleasant and helpful. This is the best food we have had in a long time and very reasonably priced too. Highly recommended for all to enjoy, lovely eat out.

With no pun right in the middle of Amberley anymore this is definitely worth the short walk. Amazing views and super friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Only reason not a 5 is could do with a refit in places. Thanks for a lovely dinner.

This is a great place with a barnstorming view that I know very well and I've eaten here many times over the years. Five of us have just enjoyed a really excellent light lunch which was delicious and tremendous value for money - and well worthy of a top review. Would highly recommend the the Welsh rarebit with bacon while... More

As one of two couples , we came to the Sportsman on recommendation. Also, on a groupon deal. The food was very good, I had the steak burger and enjoyed the prawn cocktail starter. The views from the back of the pub are beautiful. They have a nice selection of lagers and ales. The staff were great. Very pleased we... More

Had a super lunch here last month. Loved the fact that binoculars were provided to take in the views over the nature reserve - great touch. Good veggie options and delicious local cider/beer. Attentive, friendly staff. What more do you need??? Will certainly be back on our return to Sussex.
