We booked this resort simply from google search when we visited Magelang. Amata standout as it has personal spaces with its bungalow and homey vibes. We were not disappointed with our experiences. The reception was warmth by staff despite the pouring rain they pick us with umbrella from our car, they explained they are building new rooms and apologized for the noises but during our stay we did not hear the construction noises. Amata also offer the free rides to Borobudur for our sunrise tour at 4.30AM and we were lucky to enjoy the sunrise that morning. The food here are amazing we love the Indonesian food the porridge and jenang are delicious. The staff also give advice on the must see destination around here and must try local food. Overall ambiences and staffs friendliness make us want to come back for our next visit to Borobudur.

We were told about this place by friends and we were not disappointed. It has it's niggles, but overall it is lovely with very helpful and engaging staff, good enough facilities and close to the main temple complex at Borabudur and some other interesting other temples. Unfortunately our stay coincided with a large insurance conference, but the hotel warned us in advance, upgraded our rooms and were very apologetic!! Small intimate place, with friendly staff, decent prices for trips and room service (S$5.50 for a large beer), and close to everthing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our few days here at Amata Resort. Lillis was extremely helpful during the booking process and she looked after us wonderfully while we stayed, as did the rest of the friendly and helpful staff. The resort has only a few joglo style bungalows, but that is soon to change with new apartments being built whilst we were there. The joglos are really well appointed with all the conveniences that you'd expect in a high class resort. The pool is a good size for swimming and surrounded by loungers and a couple of comfortable bales, in which you can also have a massage by arrangement. The breakfasts were outstanding, with a great selection of dishes. I'm afraid that we found the lunch and evening menu rather less than exciting and rather limited. The resort has a very good chef, but the menu just doesn't stretch his capabilities. We suggest a review and upgrade of the menus to go with the new accommodation. The only problem with the resort is the very loud 5 times a day muslim call to prayer from the surrounding 5 mosques - starting at 4.50 am each day! Unlike, say, Istanbul where all the muezzins are in tune and easy to listen to, here they are all seriously out of tune and very hard on the ears. Be warned! At least reception has a drawer full of ear plugs for guests! Thank you everyone for looking after us so well.

First of all, AMATA Borobudur is a resort hotel, not a tall building cramped with rooms, but it's a spacious area with more than 10 houses of Javanese style. If you want to stay to visit the Borobudur Temple and spend few days in surrounding city, then AMATA is the best choice. Why best? Staffs are great and very helpful. Location is within minutes to the great Temple. Rooms are spacious, cozy with a huge Air Cond inside (it's working properly). Breakfast is excellent, they have customize menu. All and all, AMATA is good. However, few notes, they are currently doing the construction works, so in the daytime, a little noise from the workers might bug your nap. They will finish the work at around 3 pm. One more, this resort sits in an open area, so you might expect small bugs and flies sneak out to your room if you let the door open.

At first I was honestly a bit put-off due to the construction that really detracts from the pool; I didn't use the pool area at all because of it. *However,* our beautiful spotless bungalow, friendly and helpful staff, and the relaxing environment made up for the construction. The food at the restaurant is really yummy, and they have nicely chilled Australian wine as well. :) We appreciated the ride to see sunset, and I enjoyed the short village walk. A lovely place to stay!
