First of all I would like to start with a very troubling thing that happened that has nothing to do with the place but its "competitor" - Khampa Cafe. When we got to Tagong by taxi trying to get to "Angela's place" we were dropped in her old business in town, Khampa Cafe. The new owner has, as I later...

The Ecolodge is 10km outside of the town, and it's worth the distance. The place is only partially finished, but it's warmer than any building I've been in in China so far due to the care with which Angela, her family, and volunteers built it. The food is delicious and healthy, the type of people who end up at a...

THIS MUST NOT get confused with Khampa Cafe in Tagong Town (Angela used to have this!) - Rather, the Eco Lodge is located about 20 minutes drive from Tagong centre. However, this is where the place earns its amazing reviews! Truly one of the best places myself and 4 friends have ever stayed. It is in the middle of nowhere...

Angela's Ecolodge has now moved from central (and dusty) Tagong to the Grasslands, 10km outside of town. It's a beautiful spot and the house almost finished, with warm wooden rooms. Once the indoor showers will work, it will be the most comfortable place to stay in a 50 km radius and, moreover, the most sustainable place as well (solar power,...

The rooms are simple but clean and the atmosphere deffinitely makes the whole stay special. It is located right next to the monastery on the main square and the view from the terrace is really nice. The owner Max is a very pleasant guy who can give you a lot of information about things to do around. They also serve some...

We stayed in ecolodge and did a two day horse trek. First of all the previous owners of khampa cafe namely Angela moved into the grasslands. The new owner of khampa cafe is a Czech guy (max). The ecolodge was under construction in July 2016. But is sure going to be incredible once it is done. It is in the...

We've done a trek set up by Angela and it's been great! We have walked about 6 hours everyday throughout stunning sceneries and stayed one night in a genuine and lovely family of nomad herders (yaks and horses). We have helped to gather the herd and played some games with the kids before eating and sleeping with the whole family....

Well maintained guest house, Coco is a very welcoming hostess ! All is clean, a hot shower is available in a nice wooden tub ! Wooden rooms, comfortable with blankets (no heating). Nice food, especially for breakfeast in front of main temple. Perfect place to see monasteries around.

The most quiet and amazing place in the world in the middle of tibetan nowhere. You can spend a lot of time on their roof terrace or walking around on the steppe :) Max, the owner, is a very cool Czech guy. He will recommend you a lot of places around. Must try their tasty yak cheese momos and yak...

Didn't stay here but at Drolmas that is just next to it. Drolmas is much cheaper but also not as nice, and a lot colder! Had all my meals at Khampa Cafe and hung out there in the evenings. The place is now run by a funny Czech guy called Max who keeps the atmosphere fab. Staff is great and...

“Try the overnight nomad treks, it's a great experience (though your butt might disagree with you on that by the end of it).”

“The guesthouse has 4 double bed rooms and 1 twin bed room; shared shower and toilet. Room 5 is smaller than the others and was slightly cheaper. Three of the rooms have a view of the square and monastery. When I was there it was first-come, first served, though the website says it is possible to make a reservation if you want to be sure.”
