#1 of 19 Specialty lodging in Kangding County
Our hostel sits on a hillside just above Kangding city-center. It can be reached by a foot-path in just five minutes. We can also be reached by car, although the route is a little longer. Being above the town, we enjoy great views, peaceful silence, and a little cleaner air. We are situation across the valley from Pama Mountain (a major tourist destination) and have great views of snow caps to the South.

I have been in zhilam hostel for 3 nights, amazing place, comfortable and clean, very very good food! The staff knows english and will happily help you with anything you need. The owners chris and his wife are the most amazing people, very nice and kind, much more than expected! We were hiking the gonga shan, rented everething we needed from the hostel (tents, sticks, etc.) With great prices (some for free) and chris and the staff helped us prepare for the track with their knowladge. Dont miss that place!

My husband and I recently traveled to Zhilam Hostel. Our stay was pleasant; we enjoyed everything from the kind and helpful staff and owners, to the delicious food (yak burgers, anyone?), to the clean and well kept rooms. The option for laundry was very much appreciated, too. Overall, a wonderful place to stay for anyone looking for a mountain retreat and great company.

Great location up on the hill but with a short walk to downtown Kangding. Chris has done a great job producing a warm welcoming environment with a small menu of really good food available in the common area (try the yak burger!). The rooms are all different but clean and we'll outfitted, lots of hot water. Chris is also a mine of useful local information, obviously deeply committed to this impressive part of Sechuan. Great marked walk up the hill behind the hostel too if you're acclimatising for a trek towards Minya Konka.

Although we didn't stay at zhilam hostel we still want to extend a big big thanks to Kris the owner who always welcomed us and helped us around the town. furthermore he selflessly recommended to visit tagong and stay up in the grasslands which was by far the most impressive leg of our trip. He went out of his way to explain the local culture to us and much of his revenue benefits the local community which is always extremely well received. People at his hostel are interesting and it was extremely enjoyable to talk to some other guests.

Stephanie and Chris operate a wonderful small hostel above downtown Kangding. The yak burger was excellent. The view from room 9 at night is beautiful. I met several backpackers here and everyone was so polite.
