Really friendly staff, great view from the summit bar. Delicious food and really clean rooms. We stayed here three separate nights, before and after trekking Kilimanjaro and after our Safari. The rooms always had everything we needed. And we were always handled with perfect service everytime we asked for any. Sincerely the care was beyond what i expected and i can hundred percent recommend this place to anybody planning to have a visit in Tanzania.

Quite frankly some of the reviews of this place actually contain photographs of totally different establishments or are written by people with initial safari fever excitement and bias. We stayed here for 2x2 nights at the start and end of a safari. You will not see any animals at this location be aware of that as the venue is simply the place to stay and then go to other venues. The good, well the setting is nice and some of the junior staff are excellent, especially the bar staff and the porters. On the other hand, some senior staff members are just lip service artists. The food is mediocre at best and the coffee served in the morning with milk but served in the evening without milk is dreadful and given that this place has a so called coffee lodge next door it’s an absolute disgrace. Practically every coffee or tea cup has numerous chips making drinking from them unsafe and unhygienic and despite a senior manager promising to get them changed he never did. The packed lunches made primarily from the evening before leftovers are disgusting with cold chips, the same piece of watermelon, cucumber and small banana, a piece of dry bread and a cling film wrapped tablespoon of the previous nights leftover meat… usually inedible. All supplied in a cardboard box that has probably seen multiple uses and is once again unhygienic when you consider how many paws prints it has and dirt from being bounced around the floor of a Toyota Land Cruiser bounding along the Serengeti or any other park. As for the rooms hot water is supplied from an electric boiler the water pressure is very very poor and it’s impossible to regulate the heat. Once or twice I gave up and just had a cold shower. The bathroom on each occasion was filthy as were the bedrooms. See the attached photos each bathroom was disgusting. One morning I wiped ‘the’ sole picture frame with my threadbare towel, you know the type that you wouldn’t even use on your dog, well you can see what an improvement I made. The rooms were NEVER made up so how can anyone leave this place a positive review. I never saw nor stayed in a room with the pictures they display on their website. Each room is rather tiny and although there are 3 x 3 pin sockets depending on the bed layout you can only access one. Would I recommend you stay here well no. Would I stay here again definitely not I’d rather lance a boil on my behind with a elephant gun.

What's not to like about Highview Hotel. The serene surroundings, well maintained grounds, crystal clear water in the pool, attentive and friendly staff, great food and a nice cozy relaxing room. It was just what the doctor ordered after a long day of bush exploration, that you come to a homely environment where all your needs are taken care of and then retire without the regular chores back home. I will definitely consider a longer stay next here next time I am in Karatu

We only had one night at the highway coffee lodge and our impression was fantastic. Its a well maintained hotel with very nice quiet rooms. We enjoyed a great meal over dinner and breakfast was very good and adequate. Thank you Bobby for the birthday cake and organizing such a fabulous dinner. Would love to return for a longer stay next time.

We spent two nights at Highview Coffee Lodge late last month. It is a fabulous place with wonderful rooms and idyllic grounds. The staff were attentive and helpful all the time we were there. They serve very good food, a well stoked bar and the barman makes decent cocktails. We met the manager a couple of times and he's a very nice man. I recommend the lodge for affordable accommodation close to Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara.

Best stay on our trip: Our whole group spent 2nights here at the beginning of our safari and one night at the End. What a relaxing and serene place. We were grateful for the delicious Kosher food prepared for the older members of our group. Lovely array of fresh vegetables and fruit straight from their onsite farm was a definite plus! We are glad we had the last day here so we could use the pool. Our teenagers enjoyed the jogging trail, gym and pool table. Villas are huge with high power showers and beautiful decks. Staff very helpful. Everybody in our group loved it! Thank you all.

Nice rooms, good food and very polite and friendly stuff. First day there was only few guests so we had two choices to pick for lunch and also for dinner, served to the table. The other days we had a buffet, which was very good and tasty.

We visited this hotel in March and it was the most smiling and friendly personel we saw during our travels in Tanzania. They have a coffee farm (and coffee lodge where you can stay) and they were so nice to give as a great tour of the hotel’s amazing garden (tasting fresh passion fruit straight from the trees etc). Rooms were clean and fine and the pool was fine too. The warm atmosphere among all people working here is why they get 5 stars. We only stayed one night, but wished that we had come back.
