Absolutely loved this place. Only wish we had stayed another night. It felt like a home - thoughtfully designed to the highest standard and very intimate. We were kindly given an upgrade to their Zanzibar lodge which was THE most beautiful space. Service was top notch!

Among the many many many accommodations in this Karatu/Ngorongoro Highlands area the Plantation Lodge is probably the most authentic and at the same time oldest one which has managed the difficult task to mix European luxury with local authenticity. This is especially visible in the high quality infrastructure of the lodge, such as guest rooms, suites and of course the main building. This lodge breathes the history of a coffee plantation and takes you back into the days when foreign farmers were settling here in order to find their happiness. The Plantation Lodge has been a successful lodge during the last decade and until this day is among our favourite lodges in Tanzania. No matter if it is the staff, the leisure factor, the food or the rooms, it is all excellent! You will also not find a lodge with a wider range of wine choices. We stayed in the Zanzibar Suite, but we got a tour through all the other room categories and we can say that they are all awesome. When you travel as a couple the standard rooms are perfect, if you are a family of 4 or more then we recommend to stay in one of the suites. If you need more information for example about the differences between suites, feel free to contact us!

Our National Geographic Safari stayed here. What a beautiful, very special and felt like a very loved property. Our room was lovely with a balcony we would have enjoyed being able to spend more time using. VERY far off the beaten path. Drive seemed very long from main road and don't know how anyone would find. Had nice meeting rooms. Excellent restaurant. There were ten of us travelers plus our drivers and guides but we felt like we owned the place and were special guests. I felt like the employees were treated very well and it appeared many lived on the grounds. While we never got to actually go in the bar and enjoy a drink, it was beautiful and unique and looked into the wine cellar below. The outside areas were gorgeous with many seating options to enjoy with others or isolate. Very special place!

We stayed at the Plantation Lodge for 2 nights because of it's proximity to the Manayara National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. It was recommended by our TO and we were not disappointed. It is a beautiful, well kept property with a welcoming and attentive staff willing to make your stay special. The room was very nice and clean with a comfy bed. It was so nice to come back to after a long day and relax. The food was delicious, even the take away meals were excellent. One night after dinner some staff members came with a cake and sang a song to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you, it was very special! I would highly recommend the Plantation Lodge, we had a wonderful time there.

For the last night of our safari adventure we were treated to this lovely retreat. Beauty abounds in every direction. My room was exceptional with a private veranda overlooking the spectacular grounds. Our meals were delicious and the staff were warm and welcoming. I wish we could have stayed longer.
