Tanzanice Farm offers a friendly and cosy accommodation in Bashay Village, just outside Karatu town in northern Tanzania. The farm is located in one of the slopes in Bashay village among other farmers, offering a great view over farmland and the green hills of Ngorongoro. We rent out self-contained rooms and have in total seven rooms. We do our best to make guests feel at home.

This is another property that we really liked during our 2-week trip through Kenya & Tanzania. Reached through a short drive from Ngorongoro Crater, this farm lodge is nothing less than a paradise. Surrounded by lush vegetation, the spacious rooms offer comfortable modern amenities. The delicacies cooked with home grown fruits and vegetables perfectly suited the ambience and atmosphere. The staff was immensely friendly. My seven year old daughter made friendship with Olivia, Rusty and Matias. Looking forward to returning to Tanzanice soon.

Recently stayed three nights here while we saw the Ngorongoro Crater. The staff, headed by Oliva, were extremely efficient and helpful to us. They met our every need before we even knew what we needed. It was a lovely stay and every meal we were served was also excellent, with delicious local produce. We highly recommend Tanzanice Farm.

This is ny first time visiting Tanzania (or Africa for that matter) and I was nervous about a lot of different things (food and insects mainly) but coming here felt like a second home. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and the food was good and plentiful. The staff took us around the area, giving an insight into the locals and culture I wouldn't have missed for anything. The location is fantastic, close to the major national parks of Tanzania. I can't recommend this place enough for a stay in the region, I'm hoping to come back.

Phantastic stay at the Tanzanice farm with a brilliant local team which covered all our needs and was so helpful in organizing the trips to Ngorogoro, the village and the coffee farm. We got a lot of impressions, how people live and what they do Thanks to everybody. Suitable for gusts who want contact to oocals and to the liocal livibng stlye. Not suitable for guests who want a hotel Bar and Flat screen TV :-)

Thank you for staying with us. I smiled when I read your last sentence but I think you absolutely “Hit the Nail on the Head” when you say our place is not suitable for guests who want flat screen and a hotel bar – but good drinks can be provided nevertheless :) We do not emphasize luxury – rather socializing, exchanging experience, getting to know how people live, see the local context and enjoy relaxing a little bit away from the stressful life that so many live now a days. Again, thanks for staying with. Regards, Dr. Anna Elisabet Olafsdottir

This is just a 14km drive to the main gate to Ngorongoro making it perfect for visiting the crater and travelling through to the Serengeti. . The rooms are clean and tidy. All meals use produce grown on the farm and local people as staff. Supportive of the local community and helping it to grow and develop. Great for those wanting a more european setting

We stayed here end of October last year. I had corresponded with Vidar prior to our arrival and he had kindly organised drivers and bookings for us to visit the local experiences. The staff were very friendly, especially Olivia, who seemed to run things in the owners absence. She did a great job and they made a real effort to provide meals that we would like. The property was very clean and comfortable, and it was great to be able to get laundry done (even it was hugely expensive $45 USD for a load, vs $10NZ for the same amount in Sth Africa!). Apart from that, we were very happy with the accommodation, and would recommend to others.

Spent the Christmas here with my family. We are having a wonderful time here, visit to Ngorongoro, looking at lions, elephants and other animals. Everything here is very clean and we feel safe. The farm is enclosed with fence made from plants and local people are all around us making it an authentic experience. We are here with our young daughters, 4 and 5 years old. It's no problem staying with them here but they are slightly young for the safaris as then we stay in the car the whole day. Trips to town and visit the locals were fun.

Our driver found it hard to locate this place, the turning from the main road is not well signposted. Then it's a few minutes drive down a dusty country lane - you do start to wonder where you're going. Then you arrive at a paradise in the middle of nowhere. This is beautiful spot, with beautiful and very clean rooms. We were greeted by the lovely Oliva on arrival, who was just super friendly, she and her colleague Akwelina just couldn't do enough for us. We felt so welcome. So we spent a very restful and comfortable night in this stunning location. Dinner was great, and we enjoyed the starlit sky (there's a telescope in the main building) and a beer on the veranda. Didn't really want to leave...!

Wonderful place to stop after Serengeti/Ngorongoro and wash away the dust, or to charge your batteries before you go. Lovely terrace with a nice view overlooking the plantation of the farm. Rooms and communal space are truly spotless. Hearty greeting on arrival, very friendly staff and management. Dinner is delicious (with fresh ingredients of the farm, the vegetable curry is great)!!!! Decent mattress with mosquito net, super shower with hot water, spacious room. Quiet at night. Very reasonable price! Possibility to stretch your legs after spending some days in the car, you can take a walk on the farm grounds or in the area around the farm. Highly recommended!!!!!!!

The price at Tanzanice is relatively very low, while the rooms are clean and have well functioning facilities. The staff is kind and helpful. The location is beautiful (lush, hilly) and only about 10 mins to the entrance of Ngorongoro Crater (after which it still takes you an hour to drive up to the crater though; the park gate only opens at 5.30 or 6am so you won’t be there for sunrise). Unfortunately, the food was well below our expectations; I kindly recommend management to really look into that, as that for me would be the only reason not to return. Other guests may feel the same. Otherwise, a good option for people with limited budget!

Thank you for the comment regarding the food. We are aware of this weakness at TanzanIce Farm. I am happy to inform that an Icelandic chef is arriving in three weeks. He will stay on the farm for a month, teaching and training the local staff in innovative cooking and preparing food that guests are more familiar with. We emphasize creating jobs for the local people and in order to do so we have had to train them on various issues related to hospitality and taking care of guests. Now it is time for the cooking – the training starts in three weeks :-) So, hope to see you again. Regards, Dr. Anna Elisabet Olafsdottir
