While Octagon does the big things well it does lack in detail. The staff was very friendly but forgetful (forgot to bring a drink order, there was no water or towels brought in during cleaning). I would agree with other travelers that this is an ok place to stopover but does not compare to other luxury camps. It is situated on the outskirts of the village so while it is quiet most of the time, noise from town does filter in during the morning hours. The food was ok. We were given box lunches to take for our game drives. They left a lot to be desired.

This eco-lodge is " a home away from home". It is strategically located in Karatu area your gateway to Ngorongoro and Seregenti. The outdoors are refreshing as the gardens are well tended and you can hear the chirping birds in the morning. Food was great and a good variety was offered. Stayed in room 12 (triple) with friends and we had sufficient space to move around and lounge which was good. Let the staff pamper you whilst you stay here.

Stayed here on the third night of a safari tour. It is a nice place with chalet rooms dotted around a garden environment. The rooms are well appointed, clean and comfy. The dining and bar area are semi outside with a nice ambience. Staff are friendly (although a bit forgetful - I ordered drinks a couple of times and they forgot them). They were not ready to start breakfast at 7am as they had said which wasn’t ideal given our early getaway. There were also power issues on the night I was there (big storm) and I couldn’t get any hot water (they use an electrical heater that seems to be embedded into the shower head - seeing electric wires going into the shower head was a first fir me). It was a good place to stay but did not meet the high standard of the Tokaone Tented Camp in the Serengeti where I had stayed on the previous two nights.

Stayed here as part of our safari with best day safaris. Nice accommodation and excellent food - the soup was to die for! The thing which was the best about this place was the staff they were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you! Nicest people ever.
