In Green Hills Lodge (Karatu) Rooms are good, Still required some maintenance. As this hotel is not in the national park zone they should have a fan or air-conditioning system in the first place. Though the nights are chill all around the year the hotel is not a tented camp to get chilled off fast. The mesh windows are not secured as we ended up placing folded papers to get them tight or else be ready to face the mosquitos and other insects. We struggled a lot to sleep because of mosquitos and poor air circulation. They are not phones in the room. No Mosquito nets in the bed room. No proper hot water and the showering system was not working. At the end we all sat below the tap to take a shower. Food was good and still there are rooms to improve the service quality overall.

This review is for the Green Hills luxury tented camp inside the Serengeti National Park. We stayed 1 night in June 2019 booked by our tour company, KiliExcursions. We weren't really sure what to expect of a 'mobile luxury tented camp' but we absolutely loved it and wish we could have stayed longer! Hospitality: Upon arrival, we were greeted with fresh juice and a moist face towel. Manager Andrea then told us more about the camp and the wild animals that regularly roam close to the camp (Lions, Hippos, etc). Staff were friendly and informative. Good location in Rongai, central Serengeti. The camp is great for a mid-range budget. Tent: We unzipped our private tent to find a beautiful interior (see pics) with comfortable beds, tables, lamps, wash basin, toilet (western style with flush), and shower cubicle. 20L of hot water for showering was provided on request. Water bottles were provided for drinking. (AC was not required as it is cool at night in the Serengeti and the tent kept out any mosquitoes/insects). The view was gorgeous. Food: Dinner was a delicious 3 course meal: pumpkin soup, beef with rice and veggies in a coconut sauce, and banana fritter. Breakfast was British style bacon, eggs, toast and pancake. We enjoyed sitting with our guide for meals and chatting with Andrea. Power: Plenty of power outlets in the main tent to charge phones, cameras, etc. Wifi was not operational on the night we visited (but we enjoyed the great escape). Animals: I saw two hippos at 1am about 5m from the entrance to our tent! They were happily eating some of tall grass as I watched quietly through the netted window. I remembered the introductory information given by Andrea so I wasn't worried or scared. (Hippos are mostly herbivores and will only attack if disturbed). Indeed, I was delighted to see them. The rest of the night was peaceful with only occasional Serengeti sounds. Overall, a really unique experience at the Green Hills Serengeti Camp. I would definitely recommend staying here to truly experience the magic of the Serengeti.

I’m writing a review for the Green Hills Serengeti camp that my boyfriend and I recently stayed at because I can’t find them on TripAdvisor, but they should definitely have one because they are amazing!!! We were greeted on arrival and had an absolutely amazing stay at the camp site! The tents were cozy and cute. It was so cool waking up to a lion outside the window, hearing him walk and growl. (Of course I say this now, but was a little scared at the time). We were given hot water for showers and the food was some of the best we had. Just relaxing at the camp in the setting of amazing company was all we could have asked for. We will be returning back to this camp on our return trip to TZ.

I spent two nights at the hotel. It's location makes it a very good starting point to visit Tarangire National Park (1h by car) ; Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater (< 30 min) - if you prefer to stay outside these parks. The bungalows are very spacious, meals are served in the main building which also contains a bar. The place seemed new and refurbished to me. As always and everywhere in Africa each place has it's shortcomings in terms of craftmanship / building quality. The Staff was very, very helpful and motivated. Dinners were very well preparded; Open fireplace in the dining hall contributes to the overall Safari feeling. The place is ideal for selfdrive guests or smaller groups with a certain sense for individuality and adventure. I would stay there again and be it just to give the locals a source of well deserved income.
