Whilst formally described as a Backpackers, this description vastly undervalues the pleasure of staying at Inkosana Lodge. Proudly advertising 'No TV', and meals are served at a large communal table meaning that all the guests join in interesting conversations around the table with others. Very clean, well organised, rooms complement the relaxed and charming management style of Ed and his...

This is a great backpackers and if you stay in a rondavel, more like a hotel . The room was comfortable very clean and well organised, the kitchen facilities great and the central lodge lovely for hanging out ! Lovely music, magazines and a cosy stove. We had breakfast and dinner. Both were plentiful, beautifully presented and delicious! There is...

Ed is an amazing host, such attention to detail & friendly. The lodge is simple but comfortable & has a lovely location with awesome views of the mountains. The food is lovely but there are also fully equipped kitchens.

This is a wonderful place, Ed the host is extremely helpful. We stayed in one of the en-suite huts kitchen facilities and barbecue to hand. The swimming pool is fabulous. If you are self catering I would recommend shopping in Winterton if you require fresh meat, otherwise the local store is okay

Such a great hostel. It's definitely for outdoors people looking to hike in central drakensberg. It is such a beautiful place, with awesome views of the mountains, space for campers, dorms, and private huts. In the beginning the owner, Ed, seemed a bit rushed and didn't give us much of his time to explain hikes in the region, but the...

We arrived here having left the horror of amphitheatre backpackers. We were blown away by the beauty! The owners were incredibly friendly and very knowledgable and experienced. We only booked 2 nights but decided to spend the rest of our stay in the drakensbergs here as we loved it so much! A real 'natural' feel. We borrowed climbing books and...

Beautiful area. Mountain walks are stunning. Such a relief to go to a backpackers where the emphasis is not on partying, pumping music until all hours. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, simple. The accommodation is great. Clean and well organized with helpful staff. I was here last 15 years ago and nothing much has changed. Ed is there if you...

We booked to stay at Inkosana lodge for 2 nights but ended up staying for 5 nights. It is surrounded by nature. Such a beautiful relaxing place. You could sit under a tree and read a book whole day long or go for hikes from here. There is a backpackers area in the front and beautiful individual huts in the...

We stayed there for 2 nights in January 2017. The chalet was ok, fairly clean. it was a pain to get there with our luggage though, as the car park was very far. It was extremely hot that day and it's a shame we could not use the pool as the water was completely full of algae. The shared kitchen...

Well we are a backpackers , there has been some algae on the eco pool, people shrug it of and swim, it is better than chemicals . We do the dishes , maybe there was a bit if a rush, and if ghe matches disappeared we would happily have given you some if you had asked !

My girlfriend and I stayed here in between two long hikes that we did in the Drakensberg. The property was very clean and safe feeling, the owner Ed was very helpful in planning our next trekking itinerary. He also had a massive herb garden which was open to use. The facilities were clean and spacious, good Wifi, super laid back...
