This complex is recommended for a peaceful stay with a staff with little care and always available We were fortunate to be received by a Francophone kani thank you to the management for having someone who speaks French and who is also friendly We had a great room with jacuzzi on the lagoon side with an almost private beach a room with all the comforts and a great maid who listens to you, and who does everything to make your room perfect that you have water all the time As for the bars the staff is there to satisfy you so that you miss everything As for the restaurant, it is not a service of yours, but oral buffet more than complete with a variety and in addition.good When you arrive at the airport, you have someone from the canareef who comes to receive you in a lounge. Unfortunately, the wait is a bit long but the hotel can’t help it especially if as we arrive with the international flight at 5am and you leave that at noon, paradise has reached a price... In conclusion, we were more fortunate to have only sunshine a perfect stay From France it’s a bit far and hello, but this Deprez haven is beautiful

First things, first…the island is large, it’s very long, the resort is huge, spread out along the length by a few kilometres…the main hub (reception, office, shop, spa, gym, dining, swimming pool, main bar, etc) is lopsided towards the “top end” of the island, while most of the accomodation spreads towards the “bottom end” of the island a couple of kilometers away…the walk is nice, shaded, scenic, bikes are supplied, and the resort shuttle buggies which are only ever a couple of minutes away…our room we stayed was of course furthest towards the bottom of the island, 5-10 minutes by buggy…
On the plus side, our room was closest to the bottom of the island, a “beach bar” located there, it’s the “nicest beach” on the island, with the best reef system, it’s the only place to get a decent snorkel to see fish, if that’s what you want to do, that’s where you’d go… a 5-6/10 at best for snorkelling, but that’s the Maldives for you (bleached coral common there)…
All the rest is good news, it’s cheap, rooms are very large, very comfortable, very clean, full facilities, our room had a nice spa, accomodation right on the beach…due to the size of the resort, they spaced our neighbours, so it was very private…food was full buffet, decent spread, slight change of menu each day, although there was spaghetti/pasta served every lunch/dinner extra to the buffet choices…drinks at dining, beer or wine only…drinks at the bars, limited cocktail choices, however you can have any spirit, and mix of your own choice, e.g. gin and bitter lemon, whiskey and Coke, etc…the swimming pool at the main bar was huge, plenty of room for everyone…shallow at one end, progressively deeper towards the other end…beautiful surroundings, shady trees, sunning lounges, most of which have umbrellas available, friendly staff, especially the serving girls…3 large pool tables, table tennis, table soccer game, library book selection, games in plenty (chess, dominoes, etc), large indoor sit down area, clean toilets, showers available, magnificent sunset views, free dolphin cruise, free massage included, a win, win for us…
Would definitely go again and probably will…

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
The resort currently is one of the more ‘natural’ resorts in the Maldives (which we prefer) and has not been over developed to a stage where it loses its charm.
We stayed in 627 whirlpool room … the rooms are very spacious and had a lovely decking area straight onto the beach. Throughout the stay they were kept clean and tidy and the air-con worked great. If you need an ironing board / iron you can request from reception and it will be sent up to you. Water replenished in room daily and fridge in room too.
WiFi throughout the resort was good … in the rooms, bars etc … we only lost signal when travelling up and down the island on the buggies. Regarding the buggies … you can get bikes but we did not bother … instead we either called for a buggy, walked or hailed one down if space available on it. For us, it was never a big issue getting around … do note though that this is a very big island (I think 4.5km in length).
Food was typical of a Maldivian island … we never had a day where there wasn’t anything we liked but on some days we wished there was more choice (and ironically, other days where we were overwhelmed with options !!). A snick bar option would be welcomed.
The staff here were amazing and you can see future developments in place where it is only going to improve the guest experience … little touches to make it memorable. As an example, the cocktail evening on the beach was a nice touch and a good selection of ‘finger’ food available and drinks. The sunset setting was stunning and gave you a chance to mingle / chat with guests / staff.
Snorkelling … the corals were actually not too bad and still had colour on them in places (not totally sun bleached). The usual ‘suspects’ of fish were around but we did not see the bigger sharks, rays or turtles (although some guests did).
All the pools / beach were kept clean and never had an issue getting a sun-bed around them or at the beach. The beach at the end ‘Bar-Kuda’ was our favourite spot as stunning.
There are many options for trips and experiences (dive centre, private dining, dolphin trip, sunset cruise, fishing etc) … we actually booked with a local company outside of the resort and had a great trip.
There seems to be a lot of changes happening at this resort which look like they will only improve it … nice to see they are not sitting back and resting on their laurels but actually asking for feedback, digesting the feedback and then making changes.
Would like to give a special thanks to Aloysious and his team - a credit to resort ! A special mention to Gilbert, Hemal & Jessica at (Barkuda), Anjali, Bishnu & Reina (restaurant), Diane (private dining and main Dhoni bar), Millie (reception) …and finally again, Aloysious (FNB manager) who made this stay special for us.

We have just returned from a week at Canareef Resort Maldives, I wanted to enlighten you if you are looking for a hotel. The greatness of the hotel, for superb bike rides (free bikes on loan), and the beauty of the island. The bungalows are very functional, with an outdoor shower that was really pure happiness (we were in Beach villa). The restaurant is very good, varied menu and quality, very available waiter with special mention to Than, really a beautiful person always smiling. I highly recommend this hotel the value for money is excellent, all the staff are really caring and very responsive, from arrival on the pontoon to departure. Thank you for a wonderful stay in this wonderful green setting.

After a very long 24hrs of travelling we finally arrived, my husband and I. The guest greeting was lovely. The room was nice, however, the mattress was like sleeping on a concrete slab and the pillows were also very hard. Spoke to reception, they were very helpful and replaced my pillows with softer ones, they then said they would provide a mattress topper, which turned out to be 2 duvets in a duvet cover. The island is beautiful, however, we were munched alive by the mosquitoes. We noticed that in the public toilets there were no mosquitoes, we discovered that they use reed diffusers with citronella, we mentioned this to the general manager, who has not long taken over the running of this resort and suggested perhaps putting reed diffusers in all the villas would be a good solution. My husband and I also spoke with him about the food. The food was cold most times, the desserts left uncovered and the menu was always pretty much the same. We noticed that no-one came out to regularly probe the food in the chafing dishes and slow to replenish when food ran out. We did mention these things a few times to our waiter, who always passed on our comments. We do understand that they are putting together a new team, but, food and accommodation are an upmost priority for guests, especially if you want them to return. A full conversation was had with the GM who was very nice and approachable. The staff were excellent. A big shout out to sagit, waiter, Indie, Chamal, Dilshan and everyone else at Meera Bar. Other than these few niggles, we enjoyed our holiday and with the improvements they are undertaking, I would look forward to perhaps returning. I hope that the GM continues with his and the teams hard work and big improvements are made to the food and menu. Thank you 😊

Well...what can I say. What a place! We were welcomed onto the island by staff, everything was taken care for us, check-in was easy, the staff were brilliant and had us well informed.
There were no issues getting around the island as we could call a buggy or use bikes everywhere (which are free).
The sunset villa was great (get one with a hottub if you can), well laid out and refreshed every day by housekeeping.
Would definitely recommend dollars or euros as tips for the staff.
Sea shoes are recommended and high factor suncream as you burn, even in the shade, the UV is high.
There is an onsite shop that sells hats, suncream and souvenirs.
There is one buffet restaurant which is great, food is delicious and changes every night. Our server was Romesh, an absolute legend, always smiling and happy to see you. There are options to have dinner on the beach and at the Meeraa bar but they are extra and not included in all inclusive.
All the staff were great and couldn't do enough for you.
We did have a couple of spa treatments, including a free 15 minute jetlag massage which you can upgrade to an 55 mins for $55 which I would recommend.
The scuba centre is great. You can hire snorkelling and scuba equipment from them.
You must do the dolphin cruise, it's incredible.
The only letdown was the sunset cocktail which didn't have much of a vibe and only had 1 cocktail and 1 mocktail to choose from.
The entertainment was good fun. Didi, you are a legend. He works so hard organising the excursions and entertainment.
Overall, had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend!

We stayed at Canareef from the 1st to 15th December and we enjoyed every moment of our stay, the rooms are super spacious well laid out and have everything you need we stayed in 622 would highly recommend as the housekeeper Futha was amazing he helped us with everything even history of the islands which was really interesting he kept our room super clean and went above and beyond for our anniversary thank you so much Futha for making our stay so special. The main restaurant was very well laid out and run very well by Bishnu the manager, Our waiter Adsheer was superb always there with a smile and knew what we wanted without even needing to ask always there if you needed anything, he did have a couple of days off and we had the pleasure of having Romesh for our anniversary meal he made it special regardless of the weather mishap we laughed so much and would like to thank him so much for making it extra special. We mostly spent our time at the Meera Bar we can highly recommend this bar the staff are superb attentive and always so happy we would like to thank The sri Lankan man and the lady in black ( sorry forgot to write your names down ) they went above and beyond for anything you needed and always had time for a conversation with you. The Dhoni bar was very good for bar games and music entertainment and the staff at the daytime Bar Kuda were superb excellent service from all the bar tenders and waiters. I would highly recommend the Dolphin cruise with Didi he is very knowledgeable about the reef and we saw the largest pod of dolphins so far this year it was awesome watching them jumping and dancing around the boat. I can also recommend Scott the photographer he is very knowledgeable on getting the right shot for making your holiday snaps extra special also went above and beyond even helping people get pictures with their own phones even though this is money out of his pocket. We would also like to thank all the other special staff from reception to the leaf cleaners who make your stay super special and always with a smile on their face also the Buggy drivers who are always happy to take you where ever you want to go again always smiling. Also a very big thank you to the leaving party who made us a morning hamper because we would miss breakfast and the lovely message at the end we will miss you too and will see you again. All in all I can recommend this place very highly for a relaxing paradise holiday, you wont be disappointed we will miss this place very much

Flew from BHX ,UK ,the extra domestic flight is tiring, but staff are there throughout to guide you.
Staff greeted us on arrival at the jetty, room wasn’t ready until 1630pm, after a long journey I would have liked the room to have been ready, we emailed the hotel and had a lovely beach villa in the 170,s which wasn’t too far from the restaurant, had a lovely person clean the villa and the evening turn down service was a nice touch, the staff work very, very hard.
The two bikes are a welcome addition, as it’s about 3 miles each way to the fabulous beach,or you can request a buggy, the island is long and care should be taken in choosing your room location, otherwise your too far from everything, we enjoyed the cycle across the bridge to the local village, the beach there is lovely, make sure a member of staff shows you round the chefs garden, also you are given a map at reception, there’s not a lot to see, but it burns off a few calories. The large pool at dhoni bar is exceptionally large for the Maldives, the food at the restaurant is 3* there is a good choice,it’s not repetitive, our waiter was lovely, I think the hotel was short staffed ,so service can be a bit slow, occupancy was around 75% ,restaurant could be a bit crowded at times, we never starved and there were some good food choices, with different. Staff at pasta, meat, fish stations.
Snorkelling was ok, but we have seen better, hiring of equipment is very expensive, one afternoon there was fish feeding ,did not see a great deal just one shark, and little to see when walking along the jetty, people did say that they saw loads of dolphins on the morning excursion. There are two bars, service was very, very, good ,the staff from Nepal/Indonesia India work very very hard and always with a smile. Evening entertainment was lacking ,the singer was poor, tbh, and repetitive every evening, the dj was on another level, more like 18-30 we loved the mixes, but not to everyone’s taste if your of. Certain age ,you need more entertainment Beach toilets and Meera bar toilets need improvement, no soap to wash hands, no towels to dry hands , this wasn’t a one off, management need to look into this . Overall we had a lovely two weeks , amazing weather, superb staff who are so lovely and work so,so hard , but remember this is a budget resort, which we enjoyed but it wouldn’t be to everyone’s liking.

Going first time to the Maldives we were looking for a resort where we could do activities and at the same time enjoy blue waters and white beaches. Canareef Resort delivered just that. We didn't get bored for a second. From beach volley, tennis and diving to a gym session, we kept ourselves active and occupied. The baggies were there 24/7 to take us to any place in the resort, including Baracuda Bar, which offered delicious seafood, crystal-clear water ideal for snorkelling and a white beach. At the end of each day, we simply enjoyed our time in jacuzzi. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. All our requests were met in no time. We could always choose food to our liking from the buffet restaurant. We had a villa with a jacuzzi and private beach and we would recommend just that. Drinking water was available 24/7, and so was a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as we were on an all-inclusive basis. Diving was definitely the highlight of our trip, especially the Manta Point site.

An absolutely amazing trip! We went for our belated honeymoon and birthday celebration. The staff is what truly makes this experience so incredible; everyone was super friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Millie, Bishnu, Indri, and Win for making this trip so memorable and relaxing.
I come from a hospitality background in Switzerland and here are a few points to highlight: I highly recommend staying on the sunset side, as the sunrise side is full of reefs and difficult to swim in. If you want to be closer to the clearer beach, aim for rooms in the 500s. If you want to be close to the reception and restaurants, aim for rooms in the 100s. We changed our room to the 100s because the location was much more convenient. Also, rent a bike for the whole stay, but you can request a buggy when going to farther destinations. There are lots of mosquitoes, so make sure to bring bug spray, and of course, sunscreen. We overly packed our clothes, but it’s really unnecessary, as the place is very hot and humid. So, pack lightly! :) Lastly, it’s a must to sign up for the private tour! They’ll take you to see the dolphins and to the perfect spots for snorkeling. It's advisable to bring your own snorkeling gear and aqua shoes; renting them can incur daily charges. Drinking water is free. Also, you can upgrade to a half-board, full-board, or even all-inclusive meal plan each day (you just have to pay in advance at the cashier). We chose to include only breakfast and varied our other meals based on how we felt that day. Meera Bar offers excellent food, so dining there or opting for room service is also recommended.

No you can't dive from the beach. The dive school takes you out on their boat to the deep reefs. The waters are too shallow around the island to dive (honestly its about knee/thigh deep until to go past the reef (about kilometer and half out). Manta rays are amazing

Hi. Its hard to tip as staff change a lot (buggy drivers, receptionists, bar staff etc. All purchases are added to one bill at the end stay so no individual payments. Our two consistants were our house keeper & our waiter and we tipped them $50.00 on the last day (after 10 day stay). However, no-one expects it - there is no pressure
