Great decor, comfortable, spotless, wonderful food, excellent value, good location, quiet, and very friendly staff. No complaints on any front. Highly recommended. Stayed previously at much more expensive Mukaitaki inn and preferred our stay here.

I cannot rate this place high enough. We were in a crisis when we arrived because I forgot my bag in the shinkansen on our way to Aizuwakamatsu from Tokyo. Because we were late, Junko-san, their very kind receptionist, came back even though she was already off duty. As soon as she learned about what happened, she immediately checked the train schedule for the next day so we can pick up my bag which apparently ended up in Sendai (the JR staff in the station helped us find it - also a very kind guy). We arrived past dinner time but they still served us one of the best dinners we've had in Japan and told us that they will be serving us breakfast at 6:30 AM the next day because the train leaves at 7 AM. In fact, breakfast starts at 7 AM. I would understand if we couldn't have breakfast since we had to leave early, but no, they adjusted to accommodate us. The following morning, Junko-san drove us to the station right after breakfast when it was supposed to be her rest day. I got my bag back without a hitch thanks to the kindness and consideration of the staff at Tagoto. The rest of our stay was absolutely wonderful. The room was comfortable, the food was delicious, and the staff were lovely. This place is perfect.

While traveling around Japan I stayed at Tagoto for two nights together with a friend and it was the nicest hotel experience so far on this trip! The food was lovely and the whole atmosphere was very calming. The staff was super friendly and helpful even though we couldn't speak more than a few words in japanese. They even drove us to the station on our last day! I would totally recommend to stay at Tagoto for anyone visiting the area!

We had a lovely stay from the moment we arrived to the time when we left... All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We know a little Japanese and with their English we had a lovely stay. Breakfast was beautiful and plentiful. We had dinner in the ryokan one night... It was beautiful and lots of food... Very happy with the quality of the room... Very cosy warm and comfortable. Thank you for a beautiful stay

One of the nicest places I have stayed in with food to die for. Meals are served in proper Japanese surroundings and are the genuine experience. A bit hard to find from the train station the first time- but only 10 mins walk.
