Great host and staff. Delicious food. Oasis of peace.❤️ Our host Gede is an incredible walking enciclopedia about balinese traditions, local fauna and flora, and great guide to hike with. Rooms are simple but clean. No airco but one barely needs it. WIFI? Nope, sorry ... but never a dull moment anyway 👍👍
My family and i had a very pleasant stay at sudanita's. Our kids (5 and 7 years old) enjoyed it very much also. My son talks about the best days of Bali, because of a junglewalk we made with Gede and the beach (Amed) where he took us to snorkle. Also he showed us the Tirta Gangga and a traditional food market. Don't expect a luxurous hotel or spa, but just expect something different for a change. You won't regrette it. Gede, Katoth and Katoth are very nice for the kids also. The food they make is great. There is a beautiful garden that helps you relax after a day filled with activities and impressions (also nice for kids because of the many different frogs and other things to see). Tip: try the Sudanita cocktail😉
This review has two parts to it. The homestay itself and then the administration side. The homestay was incredible. 5/5. Gede and others were a delight and so helpful. The house was comfortable and a real escape. We took the opportunity to walk around exploring and taking in nature, and also a day trip with Gede. This is away from the tourist traps of Bali and felt like an authentic experience. The home cooked meals were delicious and the grounds incredible. We took the larger room with the outside bathroom which felt unique and adventurous. Now to the admin side. I am guessing that the target market is to people in the Netherlands (where the other owner who handles emails etc is based) and other parts or Europe so I get there will be some delays and issues when trying to organise bookings from the other side of the world. Because the contract wasn't in English and was in Dutch I was asked to pay a 50% deposit which I did. Two weeks later I hadn't heard back so emailed and asked if our deposit had been received. It took another week or so before I heard back saying that the deposit hadn't been received. By now we were due to fly out in a couple of days. To Anita's credit she did reassure us that our booking would still go ahead. My bank did a trace and confirmed that payment had gone through. Long story short the account number I was initially given was different from the account that was being checked. I again emailed highlighting this difference in the account details I was given and there was no response the whole time we were in Bali so we ended up paying again but in cash. A few days after arriving home we did get a response but with conflicting messages about whose account we had deposited the money in. There was an offer to refund but at the time of writing (and nearly 2 weeks since the last email), this is still very much unresolved. Please don't let this put you off. The stay was incredible and I would go back in a heartbeat, but I think next time I would negotiate to pay in full on arrival instead of doing an international money transfer. …
Sudanita Homestay in Adabi was the perfect 'get away from it all' location and we were very fortunate to have this little jewel all to ourselves when we spent 2 nights there on 12/13 August. Some of the stand out memories would include the beautiful nature filled garden, how well we were looked after, the wonderful food and how fantastic Gede, the joint owner and expert guide, was. We couldn't be more complimentary of Gede - he's a very knowledgeable gentleman, speaks numerous languages including English and Dutch, and was a pleasure to spend time with on our walks and trips. They surprised us with a cake to congratulate us on our wedding which was also a very nice touch. Though you'll be in a quite remote area we'd highly recommend spending time here.
We stayed here in August 2014 for 4 nights. There is a really relaxing and quiet atmosphere in and around the house and it really is a very nice experience to stay in a real home instead of a hotel. The room in which we stayed (no. 1) is nice with an outdoor bathroom and the meals are very tasty! It's also very relaxing to have lunch on the veranda and just enjoy the beautiful garden. Sudanita Homestay also offers various activities/tours, like visiting White Sand Beach, private cooking class and visiting the market in Amlapura and several hikes (we went to the rice fields). We highly recommend staying here if you want to experience a beautiful and authentic part of Bali.
