An old hotel that has seen better days. The rooms are small and the beds are uncomfortable. The bathrooms are well...not very modern. The bright spot is the service, which is attentive and willing to go the extra mile.
Well first of all, for who want to find this hotel, is beetween the Riviera Hotel and Hotel praia Mar, behind some trees. Have parking for you car in the street but is ok to put the car there. The location is very nice, nice the train station of Carcavelos, and 30 seconds from Carcavelos Beach. From train you can easily go to Cascais or Lisbon really Quick. About the hotel is not a high quality hotel, it's ok if you want just to stay few days and pay less than the other two hotel's near.
Was with my spouse and a friends couple. It´s near the beach, very good location in fact, because you find everything in a small shopping centre and on the village near the train station that is 10 minutes walk. The Hotel is clean, very friendly and familiar. Good (!!) breakfast.
We stayed at the St Juliao as it was near both Cascais and Lisbon, the sat nav got us to the square where the hotel was supposed to be but it took a while to locate as the sign had fallen off the the top of the hotel and it was hidden behind some trees! The receptionist was more than helpful and we were booked in in seconds, we had chosen a non smoking room and our friends had chosen smoking. Our room was OK, it had a balcony which overlooked the bins, some very untidy waste land and the dog yard, there were two chairs which quite frankly you wouldn't let the dog sit on and the lock on the sliding doors was insecure. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean and the extra pillows we had asked for were there. The bathroom was OK and there were plenty of towels and the water was hot. The decor in general was tired and grubby. Our friends in the 'smoking room' were not so lucky, the rooms are obviously not ventilated or sprayed between guests and the whole room reeked of smoke. The bathroom was dingy and cramped and although their room overlooked the square there was only one chair on the balcony. Both rooms had wooden doors which had glass panels inserted in them which might prove to be very dangerous, they should have left the doors as they were! The hotel can be a bit noisy as the walls are thin but fortunately we were staying at a quiet time of the year, high summer might be a bit less restful. The breakfast was good and all things considered the price we paid was fair for the facilities we got although I wouldn't like to stay here for more than a few days.…
