Detailed Reviews
We stayed at DOZ from 14 to 21 Feb 2020. Very good hotel, service and location even if it looks like some renewal works are going to be done ( happy to know as the hotel needs some extra maintenance to keep up its top level). There are few restaurants to choose from but we didn't have good experience with the italian one (not good at all) and the asian one (fixed menu and we waited 50 minutes to get our first course).
Amazing the restaurant on the beach serving delicious burgers and wraps. Everyone is working very hard and make sure the guests are feeling happy and satisfied . A real ALL INCLUSIVE with lots of options to choose from , cocktails, snacks all over the day. If planning a trip on the island I suggest to trust the beach boys as they are cheaper and offering the same service as accredited agencies (we tried both and we didn't see any differences).

Dear Gloria, First of All we would like to thank you for staying with us and reviewing your stay on Tripadvisor !! We are thrilled to know that you were satisfied by our all inclusive package and your feedback about the staff has been shared with the team. We deeply regret to not have met your expectations at the Italian and Asian Restaurant and action has been already taken on the same as guest satisfaction is our utmost priority and the team is working hard towards the same. Renovation work would be done for the couple of months as we are working on upgrading our services and facilities. Hope to welcome you again in Dream of Zanzibar soon. Best Regards

We spent 11 days at this excellent hotel in Zanzibar during NY and Xmas. The hotel itself is amazing - big area with garden, very good facitliies with 2 pools, own beach, spa facilities, 4 great restaurants with delicious food.
The most important thing which makes your stay memorable are people - very friendly staff & attentive GM of the hotel who cares of his guests every day.
We had wonderful partys for NY & Xmas with delicious seafood like lobsters and live music & got even a bootle of wine as a present for celebration of Xmas from GM.
But due to location on the eastern cost of the island there are low tides of the ocean practically the whole day, so that if you want to relax and are happy with pool that hotel is definetly for you. We wanted to spend more time in the ocean and had chosen first the hotel on the western part of Zanzibar where the low tides are not so expressive, but our travel agency changed the hotel for this. So there was quite disappointing that we did not enjoy the ocean as we wanted & only some hours in the afternoon or even in the evening when the water was back. The water temperature was like in the hot bath!
There are also lot of seaweed during the tide, but during the low tide you can discover lots of sea stars, sea urchins and other creations so you need slippers for swimming or walking in the water. There are also lots of local intrusive people standing at the beach and offering different excursions for the guests what is also a little bit disturbing if you want to relax.
All in all great job of the staff & really wonderful hotel!

What a great way to the start the week! Thank you for your wonderful review and for being so informative. It has been a tough year, but we're so pleased to have spent Christmas and New Years with you as our guest. Your kind words about our staff has put a big smile on our faces. They really do try to make everyone's stay a comfortable an memorable one. We're so pleased that on top of that, our facilities and food options met your expectations. As we are located on the north eastern coast, we are affected by the tides. This gives our guests the best of both worlds, where they can swim in the warm waters and walk out to the reef and witness the ocean life. Of course it is not ideal for everyone, but we can pass it as an experience. The seaweed season is almost at a close. We have a dedicated team that goes out daily to remove all that has washed up on the public beach. Thank you once again and we really hope to see you again. We wish you well for 2021. Please keep safe and keep healthy!

Had an absolutely stunning stay here. The rooms and decor is african "5 star" but not normal 5 star in other continents. Awesome pool- so relaxing and beautiful, staff were incredible... always totally amazing to any request. The resort is on a beach but a lot of locals who harass you when you go onto the beach. (This is the case in all of zanzibar) Food was average... seafood was scarce but a lot of octopus was readily available sometimes exceptional and sometimes overcooked. From what I've heard at other "cheaper resorts" all seafood is included and not at an extra cost which I found disappointing. Pastries were terrible and didnt eat at breakfast. Highly recommend they hire a good pastry chef (pastries/bread were on
par a normal economy flight) overall great trip

My two friends and I traveled to Zanzibar in August. This was my 4th time in Zanzibar and I have always had a good experiences in the past.
The positive is that the bedrooms are nice and spacious and the bed is comfortable.
Firstly the service was shocking! From the moment we arrived we were made to wait for ages before someone took us to our room (we arrived at approx 16:30 so there should have not been such a long wait). The activities center was always empty with no one ever there to help book activities or trips. We asked reception on a number of occasions to assist in booking things and we were just sent back there all the time. We were there for 5 nights and never once saw anyone working there! In the end we booked with locals on the beach.
The man who hands out the towels is the grumpiest and rudest person and should not be working with guests and should rather be in a position where he does not need to deal with people at all!
No one at the hotel could help us with any information we needed on anything and didn’t seem bothered about making a plan to try, so again we always resorted to asking the locals on the beach.
The cleaning lady only came to clean our rooms at around 15:00 most days which was a bit annoying.
At check out we were told to pay some fee for coming to Zanzibar around $150 (I can’t remember the exact amount). No one had informed us of this fee prior to the time. We were not allowed to leave without paying it.
The breakfast area is in a very sad and old looking restaurant behind the pool with no views. It is not what you expect at a island resort. This place needs a serious upgrade!
The fact that they claim to be 5 star is a joke!!! This place is 3 star at VERY BEST!
My friends and I made the most of our stay and tried to just look past it all, but I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone!!
They need to revamp this tired and old looking resort and train staff in what customer service is about. The manager we spoke to on numerous occasions was also not helpful at all.
You will see from all my other reviews of resorts on Trip Advisor that I always give good and fair reviews. I’m not one of those people to complain unnecessarily. This is my first negative review ever. So if you are reading this take it seriously 😳.

We were there 3 nights after a safari in December.
Room (suite junior) was big, nicely decorated and clean. The sea view is not worth to pay as there are palm trees hidding the view.
Garden is well maintained.
Pool is nice as well and there was enough sunbed at that time.
The beach is lovely in spite of lot of beach boys who are constantly after you but not much the hotel can do about it.
The big problem is the food as well as the service.
Buffet is always the same for lunch and buffet and it does not change a lot over the days. Not impressed by the African restaurant as we could have had the same food at the buffet. The Italien restaurant was just ok.
All inclusive includes various stands on the beach for lunch but it can't be fresh after 30 min considering the hot temperatures and humidity.
The service is extremely slow and it obvious there was a lack of staff.
Re the animation, this is really quiet during the day. No music around the pool. At night we had once an oriental dance show, the 2 other nights were really quiet again.
The hotel knew we were there for our honeymoon but yet no special attention was ready for us in the room or for dinner.
Would not recommend it

The resort is situated in a great location on the east coast of Zanzibar, with beautiful views out to the Indian ocean. The resort itself is well-maintained and all staff members were exceptionally friendly and nothing seemed to be too much for them to do for guests. Special mentions go to Winifrida, one of the hostesses at the beach bar area who could not do enough for us and was very attentive throughout our time at the resort. Also Getrude in reception who organised trips, transfers and any taxi requirements we had.
There is also a phone app which can be used to book restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner and can also be used to book the tennis court if required. This should maybe be extended to be used for booking a gym session, as it was always very busy in the morning with some people hogging certain equipment.
Food offered was good and different food/entertainment theme nights made for a nice alternative to standard hotel buffet offerings. There was also the Italian and barbecue areas if anyone fancied something different.
One small disappointment was the sparkling wine option from the all inclusive drinks menu was rarely available.
Rooms are modern and a good size. They are also kept very clean and are well maintained.
All in all, we had a very good, relaxing break and would definitely recommend this resort for anyone visiting Zanzibar.

Dear gsc1975, Warm greetings from TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar. Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay with us. I am happy to read that for the most part, you had a most enjoyable experience with us. Thank you for the kind words and highlighting the best parts of your experience. Being located in a stunning location on the shores of the Indian Ocean is truly a blessing. I am delighted that my Team is doing a great job and they deserve credit for the passion they put into being great ambassadors of the TUI BLUE Family. On the other hand, regretfully, Zanzibar as a whole has been experiencing shortages with supply of sparkling wine. This is due to external factors which are out of our control. We have however put measures in place to making sure this does not effect the comfort of our Guests. Looking forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back, Kind regards, Reda Sweed - General Manager

Very beautiful spacious hotel. Ample space in the room and huge beds. The hotel staff and warm and friendly at all times. The hotels caters alot for Italians as they had an entire village tour only speaking Italian which wasn't great being a South African. The food was good but not great, the smoothies in the morning were amazing. The alcohol on the all inclusive package tastes very watered down though. They offer themed nights which was fun. The beach is wonderful however the locals guys in the beach are extremely annoying and harass you as you step foot on the beach. The hotel would do well by employing a few of them to take guests on walks to the reef during low tide as it's truly wonderful out there. The sushi offering was minimal to say the least. Riyaab was extremely polite and helpful at all times. They other members of management only seemed to associate with italians. I would go back purely because I know what to expect and I will get my money worth for sure

Good day to you Jayde. We hope you are keeping safe and healthy. Thank you for your wonderful review received. It's so lovely to know that overall, the resort met your expectations and that you saw the beauty in our little piece of paradise. It is unfortunate that the tours were not enjoyable due to the language barrier. We have looked into this and have ensured that tours are given in English too. With all the information received regarding the food selection, our Food and Beverage team have worked hard at creating menus that will leave you wanting more, and hope you will experience this. We hope to welcome you to TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar. Keep well

My husband and I stayed at Tui Blue Bahari in zanzibar for 8 nights and we absolutely loved it. It's an hours drive from the airport but worth the trip. The hotel is stunning, the gardens manicured and so beautiful, the room large, well decorated
and very comfortable, and where the hotel is 5 stars, the staff is 6! They cannot do enough for you, always smiling, always friendly, helpful and very efficient.
There are two pools - one large one by the beach and restaurants and another smaller one nestled in the gardens. Both very nice. All facilities are great, well equipped and well kept.
We were also very impressed by the speed and efficiency with which the hotel dealt with some minor problems. Our safe was not working when we arrived (just needed a new battery in) and literally 2min after ringing reception, someone was at our door and fixed the problem. Same with a slightly blocked shower head - someone came within 5min and changed the whole part, we had a new shower head in less than 10min. Problems can happen at any time and the speed and efficiency which they are dealt with speak volumes about the hotel management.
The food is good and varied and the Breeze restaurant (supplement paid) is superb and at a very beautiful and romantic location, right on the sand. Green & Grill has lovely, fresh lunches and a beautiful bbq grill in the evenings. Good drinks around the hotel too.
The beach is tidal, and it goes out for a few hours in the day which makes it impossible to swim then. Despite that, walking on the shallow waters of the lagoon and by the rockpools by the coral reef is incredible. The lagoon fills up again early afternoon and the water is clear and warm. A bit of seaweed on the sand, otherwise lovely white, soft sand.
The hotels biggest asset is definitely the staff though. Very well trained and sooo smiley and helpful. They were all superb but some stood out for us and I must say a special thanks to Sia at The Bar by the pool, Berthed from Andiamo Restaurant, George from the main restaurant (he served our table at the poolside buffet day), Courage from Gree&Grill, Azina from the Beach bar and Ally, who talked to us every day on the beach to see how our stay was going. These people were beyond amazing at their job, and made our stay even more enjoyable.
I would totally recommend the hotel, it's is very beautiful, well located and well managed. We had a wonderful holiday.

We had an amazing six days! The structure is impeccable, the rooms are immersed in a lush tropical garden, very clean, large, furnished in a modern style.
The private beach is slightly higher than the public one, there is a lot of shade, both from palm trees and straw umbrellas. The two swimming pools are large and equipped with two bars which continuously serve delicious juices and cocktails. There are four restaurants that satisfy every need, the food is of excellent quality and the choice is very wide.
The clientele is international, discreet people, there is no noise or noise. The entertainment is soft, every evening there is a show or music, during the day there are sports activities.
The tide is very strong, it is not easy to swim in the sea. However, the phenomenon of the tide is very fascinating and interesting. During low tide you can take long walks up to the coral reef.
The treasury staff is discreet and very kind, ready to satisfy every request. The staff of Francorosso, Eleonora and Daniele, are always present, friendly and extremely helpful (even with those like us who have booked in an employee way on Booking). On the free beach you immediately come into contact with the beach boys who offer you excursions of all kinds at cheap prices. We did a couple of them with Pirlo, excellent organization and reliability.

We would like to thank the whole staff of the TUI Blue Bahari Zanzibar. We have spent really a great and unforgetable time there. Especially, I would like to point out the honest friendlyness and special service. We will definitely think of the General Manager Mr Reda Sweed whom we met directly in the first afternoon. The F & B Manager Mr. Riyab with his team in the kitchen, as well as in the service are really doing a very good job. I would like to mention Ms Winfrieda, always having such a lovely smile and taking care for us at the beach together with Thomas. Ms Happyness from The Restaurant and Mr Innocent habe always been ready offering a special service to us 😊
Even if our standard room has not been renovated it was big enough with lots of possibilities to put our things around, always clean and the bed prepaired lovely and shiny with fresh flowers.
What we also liked very much was the very good quality of the internet connection in the whole plant.
The TUI concept as far as the Blue Guides are concerned, needs to be mentioned als well. Ms Porsche with Mr Ally have been open for feedback and had several tipps for our excursions. So if you want to go there, you should definitely visit and swim with the turtles in Nungwi.
As I have been working for years with an Austrian company in respect of consistency, I do appreciate that the TUI staff is producing fresh fruits and vegetables in the garden for the guests.
As far as the beach is concerned we do hope that our suggestions to get rid of the see grass in a daily manner for a special period of time would the white sand let it shine like on the pictures on the internet.
Finally, we want to promise to come back next year but including a safari as well. Thank you once again fort he great time.

Response from Porsche Dumagude, Guest Services / Front Office at TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar

Dear Birgit, I would like to thank you for taking the time give feedback on your stay at TUI BLU Bahari Zanzibar and for giving us such an awesome rating. Our team is our pride and joy, as they really do try their utmost best to make each and everyone's stay a memorable one, so I am pleased you could see their efforts. I will be sure to share your kind words with those mentioned. Though most of us prefer to be offline whilst on holiday, we are glad that our Wi-Fi connection met your expectations, as well as our spacious room. We value your feedback, as there is always room for improvement and we really appreciated you taking the time to sit down with us and give feedback and ideas to consider for future. Regarding the sea grass, this is seasonal and a natural phenomenon. Removing it would interfere with the ecosystem and if caught, we could be fined as a hotel, so we try our best to meet half-way, so you can at least enjoy the beach and ocean. We look forward to seeing you both again, for more fresh fruits, vegetables and happy memories to keep. Sending our best regards to you in Austria.

Hi,
We have a private beach with direct access to the public beach.
The east coast of Zanzibar is under the influence of tidal phenomenon, every 6 hours there's a change in high and low tides. The beach is sand.
There are no lifeguards in Zanzibar public beaches.
Kind regards,
Javier R
Hi, we have just done the 2 day safari and booked through the TUI rep in the hotel, although they have used the same company who is also based on the hotel “Fisherman’s tours” it was a amazing experience but a long day. Glad we stopped over in camp. Pick up was 4am - travel to airport flight at 6:00am for 30mins land on airstrip and your away in safari keep by 7am ! Got back to camp around 4pm price was $650 each
