Mongolian national Ger Camp is $8 including breakfast, hot shower, wifi, pick up from bus station and see off. Bus ticket booking service from Ulaanbaatar to Kharkhorin and back to Ulaanbaatar. All kinds of information about hiking and horse trip around Orkhon Waterfall Eight lake (huisiin naiman nuur), great Gobi dessert, Khuvsgul Lake, renting Jeep and driver all around Mongolia and selling horses with all equipments. We will be happy to pick you up from the bus station in a Kharkhorin town.
I stayed for over a week at Family Guesthouse and I'm happy I did so. It was my first time in a ger and overall I enjoyed the experience. It's a bit of a rough life, like living in a giant tent, but Ganaa (the owner) makes things as comfortable as possible. He's a friendly (and hardworking) person, and tries to help you with whatever you need. He even took me to the local Naadam festival (where he was participating in the archery contest) and gave me a 'dehl' (traditional Mongolian robe) to wear! Besides that we barbecued shish kebabs together one night, and later he helped me 'hitchhike' to Tsetserleg! I also ate breakfast and dinner there (lots of mutton!) every day. And there's a bathhouse, so you can take a hot shower. If it wasn't for the Naadam festival, I may not have stayed so long in Kharkhorin, but I can't say I regret it. It's a simple yet peaceful place –- real countryside-style. And if you decide to stay in Family Guesthouse I don't think you'll regret it either.

The 5 days we spent in Mongolia could not have been better thanks to Gana and Suvd. From arranging transport from and to Ulan-Bator and organising excursions, everything was perfect. Gana guided us throughout our stay and taught us the Mongolian culture. We spent 2 days with him travelling through the Orkhon Valley, hiking, to the Tuvkhun temple, eating and sleeping at different nomadic camps and riding horses to the frozen waterfall. All the encounters with nomadic people were completely authentic and Gana even cooked for us traditional meals. My girlfriend being vegetarian, he always made sure there was an option for her. The family guesthouse is well located on the edge of Karakorum which makes it close to shops but also near the mountains. The Gers were very clean and comfy. Food at the restaurant was all home made with fresh products and tasted delicious. Showers and bathrooms are really clean and there also is a Sauna which was really nice. We want to say a huge thanks to Gana and Suvd and we highly recommend the family guesthouse for anyone looking to spend some time in the Mongolian steppes. Gana and Suvd can make any of your wishes come true! We will surely be back!

We booked a tour of Central Mongolia with Ganaa, the owner of the guesthouse. This included a two days' stay there. It is truly a family guesthouse as you will be interacting directly with Ganaa, his wife and four daughters. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed, the food is excellent, and the traditional ger we stayed in was perfectly equipped with WiFi access, electricity and an oven that is reheated by staff several times a night during the colder seasons. The tour with Ganaa was very good, too. He showed us all the major and some relatively secluded sights on our way, we were always well fed and neatly sheltered for nighttime. Overall, it is a very relaxing but still adventurous opportunity to see this part of Mongolia!

If you want to take the stress out of your trip to Kharkhorin, this is the place. Both the owners speak excellent English, and are the most helpful hosts we encountered in Mongolia. They met us at the bus station, helped arrange our bus tickets and a trip to the monastery, and offered a number of other great opportunities - horse back riding, yurt visits, folk music, etc. There are both yurts ($14 per person, dinner and breakfast included) and one-room cabins ($30 for a two-person bed, dinner and breakfast included) available, great hot showers, and a fun double-yurt kitchen and dining room. The food was delicious. Two thumbs up!

Very friendly atmosphere. The full family which runs this place are full of the desire and initiatives to make the tourists to feel good. They are open to organize whatever tours the guests like to do in the area. Clean beds in Gers. Even the same every morning, the breakfast was ok. At request, they prepare various Mongolian or European meals at the dinner. For those who come/leave from/to UB by bus they offer pick up without any charge.

They even tried vegetarian food which needed work but the effort was appreciated. Has warm showers which was a bonus in chilly May. Would be happy to stay here again. Got to get to 200 words so writing this!

We spent a nice time there last July. Considering what you normally get in Mongolia, the standards were outraged. Spotless toilet, nice ambience, friendly staff (which is a family with adorable kids), cosy meals (you also have a veggie option, if wanted). The yurts were fine, as well as the kitchen. The touristic offer the is great: we stayed one night at an old woman's yurt, with his son taking us to a monastery by horse. It was a really authentic offer, contrary to what normally happens in cases like this. None of them spoke english, which made it great. There weren't also last time moves with money, which are common in Mongolia. Everything felt clean, transparent, honest and well organized. Enjoy!

Best accomodation we had in Mongolia! Gers, bathroom and flush toilet are all in good condition. But the best thing is the atmosphere. You will feel here like at home. You will receive the best advices and you can book the real tours to the surrounding spots (with locals - either by car or horse). We had left tablet and keyboard there and it found us in UB immediately. Staying here while in Kharkhorin is a must! :-)

We spent a week in Mongolia, doing a round trip throw Asia. We booked the Semi Gobi, 3 days without knowing with whom we go etc. I just contact Suvd on facebook. We arrived late to UB and the next day we had the tour. Everything was like in plac, pick up service, the hole tour was amazing, amazing family, very loved. We got to know the best sites of Mongolia in just few days what was very less, but the family did their best cause they knew that we don't have a lot of time.
Through the whole Asia, it was definitely the best orginized tour. The very best of Mongolia.

We were three people who wanted to do a simple horsetrek of about 13 days, camping and staying in ger around the Orkhon Valley. Online we looked for a small locally-owned company and found Suvd and Ganaa of Family Guesthouse in Kharkhorin who said anything was possible. We didn't have much detail before arriving, but everything sure became possible and very efficient. In Ulan Bataar we said the name Suvd to the bus driver at the Dragon Bus Station and were given seat numbers, to be paid after arrival. We were met in Kharkhorin, given a tasty meal, slept in a clean, neat ger. Next day Ganaa took us in charge, helping us buy provisions and gear for our trip. Everything was a bit more complicated, as one person was arriving later and had to be brought to us somewhere down the valley. Sure enough, she arrived a few days later, another horse found - all arranged with ease by Ganaa. Our horseman/guide was Shar ( who also has a ger camp and horse treks at the Waterfall - can thoroughly recommend that also). He was great - great sense of humour, cheerful, helpful, and of course excellent with the horses. When you don't have an English speaking guide you don't get so many questions answered, but you sure get additional insight into life on the steppes, and you have a lot of laughs... When we realised we had a chance of seeing Nadaam in UB we cut our trip short by a couple of days. Again, nothing was too much trouble. Shar took us to the nearest town; the bus was waylaid by Suvd with some magnificent driving skills so that our bag, left in storage in Kharkhorin, could be returned. I can only highly recommend the Family Guesthouse Hotel (otherwise known as Family Guesthouse and Tours, or Family Guesthouse Ger camp) for cheerfulness, flexibility, helpfulness and willingness to accommodate individual plans. Great mix of friendliness, simplicity and efficiency, which really suited us, as we didn't want elaborate "expedition" style trekking. Ganaa will organise anything you want I think - it doesn't have to be just horse riding!!
