Stumbled across this place whilst looking for somewhere to Sunday lunch. Was pleasantly surprised, the carvery was fantastic home cooked food, fresh veg and a good selection offered. Hospitality was pleasant, lovely family feel to the place, and a good price, desserts were basic but sufficient and homely, good proper food, would definitely recommend.

A surprise and last minute get together saw us at 6.00pm on a Saturday in August requiring food for 4 hungry children and 6 adults. we asked at the Black Boys in town but they were fully booked, surprisingly as the minimum wage slaves who 'greeted' us there had a superior and condescending attitude to die for, just like teenagers... This building always looked a little grander from the road. The inside was clean and well presented. I was with a large group attending a lunch style buffet. The function room was very spacious with plenty of seating. The food selection was very good with sandwiches, savoury choices and sweet items. I did not stay at the venue, but this... More

We were invited as a couple to an event hosted by a local group at the Aylsham Lodge, we had been there before, this visit was a whole lot different. My partner had told them I was coeliac, and the manager was absolutely brilliant. There was absolutely no problem. They served good honest basic food, please don't expect a lamb... More

We have stayed here on may occasions, staff friendly and helpful as usual, great breakfast. The room is a little dated but clean and comfortabe, the only down was a strange plastic covered duvet, a bit like sleeping under a plastic bag!

Stayed there one night as all other local hotels / B+Bs were full- wish I had found a field and dlepped under the stars instead! Rooms are all done in 70s brown. All the fittings are a retro masterpiece to this time period, including the dripping shower and doyley curtains. The rooms ,however, were very clean. Bar was dismal- had... More

A friend and I decided to stop for lunch at this hotel. Pleasant staff, drinks ordered together with meal. Drinks appeared rapidly. We asked to sit in the garden and after waiting for food to arrive for 40 minutes and asking how much longer it would be, were told it would be with us very shortly. Fifty five minutes after... Felt like I was stepping back in time as I went through the door to my room. Possibly the 70s as everything is coloured on the beige scale. Chilly when I stepped in to with one electric heater barely putting anything out. All the basics are there I guess but definitely basic! Have got a lot more for my money... More

This is a good North Norfolk motel with several well appointed chalets, nice main dining/breakfast room and bar with separate function room; well sited for access to seaside towns and beaches, narrow-gauge rail connection to mail line and Norwich and walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants and Aylsham town. Reasonably priced and substantial breakfast make this an ideal base for day... More

We stayed here for 3 nights early September 2014 on a B&B basis. Rooms are built as an annex outside the main building and are therefore very quiet and lots of parking. The room was comfortable, clean, quiet and spacious. Bathroom equally OK. We took a dog along which was looked after very well. This is a family run hotel... More
