This is a very special place for an overnight stop or a holiday in the area. I would describe it as a traditional hotel in lovely grounds, with a feminine touch as there are many ladies around including in the kitchen. They use local food markets/suppliers for their menus. We very much enjoyed our dinner and our room with a view of the bridge but the best was to come the following morning. We were asked at what time we would like breakfast..and expected to appear at the allocated time. This is spectacular, I have never seen such beautifully cooked fruit for years.. something my grandmother would do. Mary will sit at the chair and you will hand your bowl to be served by Mary. Delightful ..
Hanora's cottage is just a little piece of heaven. On our arrival we were offered complimentary tea and coffee along with some home-baked treats - so delicious. We were then shown to our very spacious and beautiful room - could not ask for more. (Complete with a double jacuzzi bath may I add!!) We stayed for 2 nights and dinner on both nights was top class - beautiful local ingredients cooked to perfection. Following a great night's sleep we were greeted by Mary for breakfast and what a wonderful breakfast it was. The selection of fruits, both hot and cold, breads, cheeses, yogurts and the jewel in the crown - the delicious porridge - all were second to none. We were spoilt for choice and we could have as much as we wanted of everything after which we were served a very tasty home-cooked full Irish breakfast. A great start to the day!! There is so much to see and do in the surrounding area and one of the recent new additions is the Greenway running from Dungarvan to Waterford. Overall I could not recommend Hanora's Cottage highly enough. Mary, Eoin and Judith and all the staff run the most wonderful guesthouse and each and every one is so helpful and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit already!!…
Hanoras Cottage is more a hotel than a cozy cottage. It is very pretty but formal. Our room, for 2 adults, was TINY. The en-suite bath was nice with a jacuzzi bath. The B&B is still observing some Covid regulations at breakfast. The manager was quarrelsome at times, making a couple of situations uncomfortable. I was quoted one price for rooms but charged another price at checkout time. My sisters were in another room, while showering a bat flew through the window and stayed in the bathroom with her. When she attempted to call the front desk the call would not go through so she had to go downstairs to the kitchen before she could find staff to help out. We would not stay at Hanoras Cottage again.
We stayed at this green oasis last month. Our hostess, Mary was as kind as the day is long. Our room was spectacular with a king sized bed, spa like bathroom with a huge jetted tub. The food was truly gourmet, best breakfast of my life! The grounds of the hotel are simply beautiful, with a small rippling river, old stone bridge. The flowers and green spaces were restful and restorative. We had difficulty in booking other accommodations, Mary stepped up, found us a place in Dungarvan, and truly saved our vacation. She and her daughter dropped us at our hotel out of the goodness of their heart. I highly recommend this establishment. It is slightly off the beaten path, but well worth a visit if you have access to a car.
Always receive a very warm welcome at this amazing guesthouse. The home baking and coffee/ tea are a real treat on arrival. Our room was luxurious, such a comfortable bed, fantastic shower, all you could want.We had our hike on The Comeraghs, starting point a few minutes drive up the road from Hanoras and then arrived back on time to get ourselves ready for dinner.Always lovely hot water, great power shower and of course jacuzzi bath is always a welcome treat after hours on the mountains.Dinner was amazing, as always.Really top class food. For starters I enjoyed a delicious courgette and cheese tartlet with other lovely ingredients also.My husband savoured crab .I enjoyed monkfish and prawns for main course, my husband enjoyed the striploin steak very much.He asked for medium rare and that is exactly what he got. They know how to cook a steak.to perfection.Desserts were fabulous too.Great selection and very generous. We headed up the mountains before breakfast the next morning for a two hour hike and what a treat awaited us on return.Hanora's Cottage is truly a gem nestled in The Nire Valley in close proximity to The Comeraghs which offer four well-signed hikes. The car park is a stone's throw from Hanoras. We always have a wonderful experience with Mary and her team.It has a fantastic reputation, one which they truly deserve.…
What a wonderful hidden treasure in the Nire Valley! The personable hospitality, sumptuous food and fabulous accommodation was all commendable. Went to sleep with to the sound of tranquillity; river gently flowing ; and awoke by the sounds of nature! The whole experience was peaceful and relaxing! Mary and her staff are wonderful. I will definitely be back. Margaret, Waterford
We didn't stay at the hotel but had a great evening meal. The restaurant was quiet. Service excellent. Lovely comfy sofa's to lounge around in before and after our meal. Lovely views from our table in dining room.
Hanora’s cottage is an exceptional experience from start to finish, the picturesque peaceful surroundings, the incredibly friendly staff and the most delicious food you’ll ever eat, our bedroom was beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable with the luxury of an amazing jacuzzi. It was the perfect escape. I can’t recommend it more highly.
We spent 2 nights in Hanora's Cottage recently and were sorry to leave. The food was a particular highlight. All of the breads, scones, cakes and sauces are made in-house and are delicious. On our second day, we decided to take a hike. Mary supplied us with maps, walking sticks and offered us to make a lunch up from the breakfast buffet (which was lovely). The hike in the Comeragh hills was a 5 minute drive so Hanora's Cottage is perfectly situated for anyone looking for such a trip. We got caught in a rain shower at the end of the hike and on return Mary offered to dry our clothes. Dinner on both nights we stayed was superb. Overall, a highly recommended place to stay for a break.
