Detailed Reviews
I just saw a post on Lidolux Hotel in Beltsy and will most likely try it next time. That's why I decided to write couple of words on Hotel Balti where I stayed for more than five times now.
The good part is about its location. I mean it is really fantastic to live in the very centre of the city, just next to enormous Alecsandri Square and to the central amusement Park Andriesh. At any time of day and night, plenty of restaurants and cafés are available all around. The best however, is the hotel's restaurant and hotel's bar. Actually there are two identical bars on the ground level, to the right and to the left if you are standing in front of the entrance. So the one I liked the best is to the left if you are facing the entrance from outside. Its interior is a very nice 70-80's design with great chairs and lights in round shapes and vivid colours, kinda like in Kubrik style. They serve very good Turkish styled coffee by the way and some of the finest Moldavian cognac. Don't go to the other bar, as it seemed to me as a some kind of a hook-up place, anyway it was rarely open during the day.
The bad part is about the rooms and hotel itself. Clearly, this used to be some kind of the "best hotel" in Beltsy during Soviet times. With all the changes that took place, the hotel was only superficially renovated, some rooms, conference hall, but the rest of the hotel really needs good repair responding to modern standards. Some rooms have air conditioning with an ugly thing outside the window. I saw their "best suite" (with sauna inside), but really I personally did not like it. I mean it was new and repared, but I guess I just did not like the grayish-rosy filthy-like style. It's a big hotel, with plenty of tourists as this is the first hotel you go to in Beltsy, you can't miss it as it is right in the middle of the city.
I will try Lidolux in May 2008, however its location seems to be a quite far away from the city centre.

Probably I will choose other options if available.
Considering the price per night, the breakfast included was useless and not according to the expected standard.
The minimum about of breakfast items were kept wrongly without protection.

This hotel won’t be winning any prizes. Even taking into account the price of about 18 euros, I didn’t see much to recommend it. The building is in dreadfully shabby condition, such that I doubt one would find something like this in most countries even if one looked. The room was in commensurate shape, the bed small and worn out, the windows thin, the bathroom gross. Internet worked only in the lobby (but there stably) and the breakfast was the kind of crap that goes at least some way toward explaining the lower life expectancy in this country. I suppose the location could be considered a strong point, as the hotel is very central. But that’s it.

This hotel was booked by our friends, because they couldn't find other alternative in centre of the city. I will never visit this hotel or recommend to other persons. If you really need a bad for night, it's ok, but not more.

First time in Moldova and first time in Balti. This place is just great, the best. A friendly helpful staff all over. Just want to do the best for us and helpful with a secure parking place for our motorbike and a great restaurant to recommend. Thanks to you!

Pretty sad hotel, but it is hard to find valid alternatives around, especially if you arrive late at night in town. At least they have aircon and (very week) wifi. No breakfast. Rooms are large but not the cleanest.

Prices are pretty high for Moldova, but I recommend buying one of the "luxury" rooms if you want 3 star+ conditions. These will be very clean and spacious. The breakfast is not something that you should rely on, instead choose one of the great pizzerias or other restaurants in the central area, which provide good food at very reasonable prices. There is also a private parking lot, although not well maintained. The reception staff are always willing to help you, although it is better if you can speak some Russian sometimes. Also, please consider that, during cold months, the rooms become VERY cold. Overall, I recommend this place compared to the few other alternatives which exist in Balti, especially in the warmer months.

+1
Balti is not necessarily a tourism metropolis. And I was only there for business. For the local conditions, the hotel is very pleasant with small drawbacks: 1) One should expect nothing at breakfast .. except a few fried eggs, eggs, sausage and cheese a few leaves WITHOUT bread was nothing there. Swedish Bufet called because there; -] ..so rather save hunger and tidy go lunch or dinner !! 2) It is an effort that the rooms are VERY clean, but unfortunately I am then startled, as I have the toilet lid lifted up .. because bloodstains -we were all front know what that means; -] 3) The remote control of my TV was not fit .. but there was also no interesting program ..
Too bad, because that has deteriorated the good first impression. I payed €35,00 B&B --> thats a very huge ammount in this country. But is was OK with me.
