Welcome to an authentic palace experience that dates back to the 16th century, Gogunda Palace is a luxury hotel in Udaipur that has a rich history. It is here that Maharana Pratap was coronated as king in 1572 and it is from here that the Battle of Haldighati was fought in 1576. Now, with a treasure trove of experiences to delight modern royalty, you can choose from any of its 40 grand suites and rooms. Built in the 16th century, at the height of royal rule, the Gogunda Palace is one such edifice.A rich tapestry of wars fought, kings grandly coronated and queens applauded, Gogunda welcomes you in peace time by opening its grand ‘hathi pol’ or elephant gate reception. A splash of bright colour and art on this beautiful but mesmerising barren land, this palace has been recently lovingly restored back to its original splendour and is second to none in its sheer beauty and grandeur.

Want to get away from the hustle, tourists and craziness of Udaipur......then do yourself a favor and stay at the Gogunda Palace. About 30 KM outside of Udaipur is this gem of a fabulous palace, where every room is different.....trust me, we got the grand tour and were shown almost every room. Breathtaking each and every room! We were lucky enough to arrive after the Divali week and basically had the palace to ourselves (only 1-2 guests). Impeccable service and the food was great. You will need a driver to take you to Udaipur and see all the palaces; take a boat ride and see the markets. When done, get back to the calmness of Gogunda and enjoy every minute you will not regret your stay. If there was a place in our 5 week India adventure this is the one place I would want to return to again!

This is truly a palace!! We had the most exceptional and memorable stay at this heritage hotel and truly got royal treatment! Everything from the rooms (every room is individually decorated, none like the other), to the great service, friendly staff, amazing pool, quiet location and excellent food was absolutely amazing! The staff are extremely attentive and fulfilled our every request immediately (special thanks to Kamal and Arvind for not only looking after our physical needs but also helping us along with learning more Hindi) The breakfast was cooked to order and we could order everything from the menu (waffles, pancakes, eggs, beans on toast, various Indian breakfast items, fresh fruit etc) and as much of everything as we wanted. A true sense of abundance and indulgence! There was freshly prepared fruit juice every day and complementary purified water which was refilled whenever requested, which also made this a very ecofriendly stay, not having to rely on plastic bottles for once, which so often is a painful part of travelling in India. House keeping was generally also very attentive, always refilling coffee sachets, soap etc. All the staff seem very dedicated to keeping the royal flair about this place, the gardens are beautifully maintained. We received a tour of the rooms, introduction to the owner and designer of the hotel and got to know some of the history of the place when we arrived, which was very attentive and a great start to our stay. It’s possible to hire bicycles which we never took advantage of as we just wanted to enjoy the palace, but which is a great feature as well! The local pottery session we booked through the hotel was very enjoyable and the hotel staff included a tour of the village and temples as well which was very interesting and much appreciated! We felt like we want to stay here forever! Thank you so much for this special stay!!

Gokunda Palace is a trip that simply cannot go wrong. It is a sprawling palace with rich history, meticulously restored over several years to its earlier glory. What u get is a real palace vis a vis the many palace-like new properties in Rajasthan. Being a structure that is hundreds of years old, it gives u an authentic experience of the life of the royalty... There are numerous corners that are worth a sight.....which are not captured in the pics.. Bougainvillea flowers blend beautifully with the yellow walls creating an aura of tranquility and a picturesque landscape for photographs.... Be it one resident or two....the facilities are kept as they should be, every corner and every facility is functional-so fewer guests only add to the richness of the experience and rather than being a guest in the palace, you feel like the owner.... Coming to the food, as is common to palaces in Rajasthan.....it is excellent and highly customisable with the chef happy to cook you a meal to your specific needs and whims.... The staff including their manager understand the luxury business and are thorough at their job, while maintaining the friendliness, something only Rajasthan has on offer..... they r willing to do 'anything possible', to make sure that there is no scope for a guests disappointment..... The pool is the highlight, this was an earlier stepwell, now a beautiful poool which feels very private, with large vines of bougainvillea on one side and high palace walls on the other... flower petals often drift into the pool and make it look like a spa.... Its a fantastic experience ..... Do try to book one of the more premium rooms to amplify your heritage experience.....10/10 is what they deserve
