Old, musty rooms with tourists freely walking around, even popping their heads into your room if not locked. Not worth the price in my opinion. The only saving grace was the fantastic food at the restaurant. Will not recommend for stay.

There can't be any doubt on where to stay when you're in Chail. It takes you back to those British times and with panache. Please book rooms in advance (on HPTDC website). The staff is warm and check in was smooth. However, they do take their own sweet time when checking out. Told me that their servers were down. There... More

Though we did not stay here at the Palace, spent a couple of hours here. The place truly magnificent and is a reminder of glorious past. We had lunch here at the Restaurant of the Palace. It is a cozy diner with a capacity of 70 covers. The staff members are courteous and ready to accommodate your requests. Service is... More

I stayed here with my friends and we took queens room. It was a big room with chimney in room which was not functional, not even required. We checked in late in the night as it was a sudden plan and hotel we wanted to stay was full. So we found it by chance. Property is good, maintained my Himachal... More

This is a great location for a peaceful stay. Dense Devdar forest is amazing. We stayed in log hut for two nights. Maintenance of hut was pathetic. Bed covers, towels etc. were too dirty and overall furniture is shabby. Only the location was very nice. Palace is well maintained.

We stayed in the log huts in the midst of the jungle. It is far from the main building(the so called palace). So every time you want to have a glimpse of the palace or have breakfast ,need to walk a long way... The huts have no link with the palace in terms of room service. The huts are looked... More

This happens to be our second time in Chail Palace. And thank god, we chose the Log Huts. Beyond the pompousness of the Castle, and day trippers, are these Log Huts nestled atop a small hill a little surrounded by pine trees. Am sure people who are in search for a little " US" time, would love this. And they... More

Did a drive to Chail palace on our last visit to Shimla. Beautiful location but seems it needs some maintenance. Nice lawn and play area for ..super place for a picnic but outside food is not allowed. Inside the Palace lacks life and seems a bit ghostly but again the old world charm still remains and would be delightful with... More

A beautiful heritage palace in the hills but maintained pathetically. They take 100 Rs for per person entry. That means if one car is having 5 person than 500 Rs is entry fees for this place. You get smelly, un washed carpet which hasn't been washed since decade. Washroom is so dirty that I would prefer to use outdoor. Staff... More

we have stayed at this hotel 3 times over a period 10 or so years. The first time round we took a room on the ground floor (2006) and then subsequently (2008 and 2016) have opted for the Vazeer room which is on the first floor of the main building. Clearly a far better choice. This is not a property... More
