Great stop to start your next day climb to the top - it is a must to wake up at 5 and wait for the sunrise on the refuge deck, you're in for an unbelievable view with the sun coming out from the sea. Very clean, warm, good food, friendly staff. Totally recommend!
We stayed for 2 nights while climbing the Mt Olympus massif. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and catered to allergen requirements and the location is beautiful. Limited water, which was out of their control, but facilities were great for a mountain refuge.
The facilities were clean and welcoming and the people running the place very helpful and efficient. Very good experience. Would have given it five stars but this is not exactly meant to be a 5 star resort.
What a pleasure to reach the refuge after a hike up the mountain. Although the hike is not technically challenging, the constant ascent means it can be quite exhausting. So the pleasure is there to be greeted by Maria who is presiding over the refuge like a proper olympian. We had a room for 6, which was ok. You have to bring your own blankets of course, as the hotel only provides pillows and blankets. Although the room can be quite fresh, the blankets will keep you warm. Food served is u til 2100, and consists of some solid mountain grub. However everything is there. Showers are with cold water only and shared, so only the brave take them. Toilets are squad. Price is only 13 euro per person. Food is decently priced. Drinks also. So: if you want to walk up the mountain of the gods, this is an excellent place to stop and enjoy the scenery and take a rest.…
We spent two nights at the refuge, and we really liked it. The place is well maintained, clean, and efficient. You can buy nice food after your trekking days. We stayed 2 nights after climbing from Litochoro (very nice path, but 8h walk and steep), so we were able to take our times And were not pressed for the ascent. Notes: There are pillows. You can take max 3 blankets, but no sheet included. They sell biscuits, apfel, bananas at the reception. Breakfast is 3 slices of bread with marmelade, margarine, butter and honey. Lunch and dinner are in nice amount so you wont be hungry. Shower is old water but just be quick.
