Found this campground very late in day as I was ready to quit. Beautiful shoreline, well designed campground. Easy to access both the showers/restrooms and beach. Campground opened the day that I arrived so there were few others on the grounds. Stayed two nights. The roar of the ocean was soo relaxing.
This was our second visit in 3 years and we would definitely consider returning. Less than an hour from Santander and easy to find up a slightly twisty road. The site hugs the coastline and has a variety of different areas to pitch. There are no formal pitches, you just find somewhere you like, set up & then let reception know which electric point you want to connect too. The best pitches get a spectacular sea view across the site's private beach. Some pitches terraced into the hillside, some are tucked away & some in open fields. The beach is pebbly but with sand revealed as the tide goes out. When it's fully out there are some great caves and rock formations to explore on the beach. Toilets were spotless with cleaners working till 2300. On site shop is minimal & expensive but there is a supermarket where you turn off the motorway just 10mins away. Restaurant has 2 wood fired pizza ovens with an outside terrace overlooking the river below. Reception staff were very helpful. This is a large site with no permanently pitched caravans which tend to monopolise so many other sites in the area & make touring availability difficult. Clientele were a good mix of nationalities, mainly Spanish. Dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.…
This was our first ever camping trip and first time in Cantabria. We have been totally spoilt as it will be hard to match this place. The location is beautiful, all natural surroundings with eucalyptus trees for shade, facilities very clean, restaurant fantastic and two adventurous beaches to explore. The kids loved it. San Vicente de la Barquera is also lovely with some great restaurants.
Extraordinary location! Beautiful pitches with seeview. Do not forget to take the unstable weatherconditions into consideration. Clean toiletblocks. The restaurant was a dissapointment to us. The food is not so tasty and expensive.
We visited this campsite twice, once in the height of the August holidays and once at the beginning of September. Not surprisingly it was pretty chaotic during our August visit, but it had calmed down by early September which allowed us to appreciate its virtues more. Plenty of pitches, some with great ocean or river views, excellent clean facilities and a well stocked shop with freshly baked croissants, pans au raisins, and some savoury treats. We dined in the restaurant twice and the food was excellent. Handy for the Cantabrico motorway.
