Great place and hosts. The kitchen is nice and the rooms are clean, well kept and nice. If you have a car (like we did) you can take it right upto ur room so no need of lugging luggage. Andrea was a delight in answering our questions and booking the aquataxi for us. The location is great, about 5 min from all the activity areas like canyoning, kayak, the park itself etc.
The was one of my favourite stays in NZ simply because of the hosts. They were incredibly friendly, always talking to us, and also gave us some great advice about what walks to do and helped us book them. The place is really nice and quiet, being set a little out of Marahau. Our room (a twin), was small but comfortable - and we hardly came to hang around! The TV room was also a nice touch for watching DVDs (you can't actually watch TV) and also comfy. We chatted to Stuart for a bit and it sounds like they have some great plans for the place, so I would love to come back one day and see how it's all turned out!
We had a wonderful stay with Andi and Stu,they were very welcoming and helpful! The facilities were clean and the kitchen is a great size. It's a very homely environment and they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was fabulous. Toilets are cleaned daily and a TV and chill day in their beautiful lounge with so many DVD choices is a must!
We stayed at Kanuka ridge for 2 nights. First when we we got there it was before check in time so we waited a little bit to check in. No biggie. The first thing was smooth check in. We had 2 separate reservation. Andi made sure we stay in the same room for 2 nights. We got the cozy , clean room in the back with the views of trees. We were happy about the room. Next comes the super friendly host Stu. He have us so many tips about the hikes and a The area. We also booked our water taxi thru him. The kitchen was clean. Showers are super clean. They also have laundry. And a grill. Yay! What else you want? Btw clean drinking water that comes straight from the stream that goes by the property. So fill up your water bottles for the Hike. Definitely stay without a doubt. If I would visit Marahau again, 100% staying again. …
One of my favourite hostels I've stayed in over my 3 months of travelling Mainly because of the man running it. Stuart was such a laugh and so helpful He helped book any activity we wanted to do and even drove us down there for free as we had no car The hostel is a little bit out of the main town but worth it 100% recommend it As for Abel Tasman, it's a beautiful place. No shops really so if you're planning on cooking you might want to buy bits before arriving For things to do, there is a great walk there which takes around 6 hours. You can get a water taxi one way and walk back. It's a really lovely walk
