We stayed overnight and then met with friends for a ladies 70th birthday for afternoon tea. The food and service was second to none. Plenty if not too much lovely food ( and I'm a Chef ) plus we were never short of tea or coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and the staff including the General Manager ( gent...

Was truly surprised upon reaching The Talbot at Malton, beautiful hotel and I cannot complement the staff enough! Five star service and professionalism. Meal was fantastic. I shall return as I simply didn't have enough time to enjoy all the hotel had to offer. If thinking of visiting the region try staying in Malton instead of York! You won't be...

We have lost count how many times we have stayed at this wonderful hotel since it was refurbished a few years ago. Our last visit was 25th Nov. We had an excellent time. Greeted by friendly, welcoming staff who informed us we had been given a room upgrade to a large room with views across to the river. A couple...

This was my third stay at The Talbot. Although we'd booked the same type of room as before this time it was a little disappointing. The room and especially the bathroom was much smaller and the room very hot. Despite this the hotel and the bar area has a nice welcoming atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and helpful....

Food good. Service fine Accommodation (room 9) not so good. Quite cold even with heating full on. Bed wasn't so comfy with only two pillows, no spares and no mattress topper. Wouldn't recommend for the price!

This was our third visit to the Talbot and it continues to offer a lovely experience. Wonderful 9 course tasting menu for dinner (not nearly as formidable as it sounds), great bar and lovely rooms. Staff are friendly and it's in a perfect setting for a winter break. Recommended.

What a shame! Lovely hotel. Spacious, clean room and friendly staff. However, we were invited for a business dinner in The Wentbridge room. The food was acceptable but the service was abysmal. On checking out, I advised the receptionist that the service was the worst I had ever experienced. No organisation, poor staff training and no effective management. We were...

I am an Old Maltonian. I attended Malton Grammar School. The Talbot was a wonderful hostelry almost every weekend to us! This was a visit to reminisce and to enjoy. We were made so very welcome upon our arrival and shown to a feature room for our stay---so far so good. Our dinner was just brilliant and table service very...

Friendly evening staff made us feel very welcome but didn't help with the bags to the room which was two floors up with no lift. The room was lovely, spacious and had a very comfy bed. The bathroom was clean and well fitted. Evening dinner in the main dining room seemed quite tired and was full of elderly couples not...

If you're looking for a few nights away from the madding crowds, this a rare find. Set in the beautiful market town of Molton, you will very quickly get into the slower pace of life and start to enjoy the delights of this hotel. The decor is quintessentially British with lots of comfy sofas and a large fireplace in the...

Dear cvl333, What a lovely review of the Talbot, and of Malton itself. We are very lucky indeed with our local produce, which we use to our advantage throughout the hotel, from the roast coffee beans, to the beer and to the vegetables we grow in our garden. We have just recently brought back our 9 course tasting menu, which...
