We stayed at Melville Castle for one night and the approach via a long driveway is impressive as is the castle as you arrive. The entrance was let down by a lovely open fireplace with no fire that would have offered a warm welcome on a cold January afternoon. The staff were friendly, which was good as there was no...

We were looking forward to staying in a castle, front desk didn't tell us any times for breakfast or wi-if so we presumed it must be in the guest folder but we didn't have a guest information pack in our room so had to go back down to reception to ask, the evening meal was a weird concoption but tasted...

My daughter and I had wonderful time staying at Melville castle! It was like getting to live in a fairytale for the day. We explored the entire castle and the grounds. Everything was charming and beautiful! The food was excellent too. We enjoyed teatime, dinner, and breakfast there.

Just returned from a one night stay at this historic country house/castle hotel. Our stay was a Christmas gift voucher and after reading previous reviews, we weren't sure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised and were left wondering why Melville Castle received some of these negative reviews. The building itself is splendid and in a very scenic location....

We had a lovely couple of days at Melville Castle, the hotel was lovely, the staff were excellent, especially in the restaurant. The food was very good, the bedrooms were very comfortable, we did have a couple of niggles, but very soon sorted out. All in all a very successful stay and 20 Minutes drive to Edinburgh. Highly recommend this...

My girlfriend and I spent the night here in mid October and wish we had made a longer reservation. The entire staff was most friendly and helpful. After checking in and wanting to relax we had a couple of drinks in the beautifully decorated lounge. We went downstairs for dinner and noticed a pair of shackles on the wall. We...

Situated on the outskirts of Edinburgh this was a perfect location for a peaceful, relaxing night away. Whilst the hotel does not boast many amenities the surroundings are superb with the castle set in grounds well away from the outside world. We took a bus (every 10 mins) from the end of the drive to the centre of Edinburgh so...
