This was the worst hotel stay of my life and the dirtiest property I've ever stayed in. My mom and I (for context I'm 29 and she's 60) did a two week trip of Europe to celebrate her 60th birthday year. I thought staying in a castle for our last night in Edinburgh would be a real special treat. After... More

We stayed here as our one Scottish castle stay and it was as advertised. My understanding is they have only been operating as a castle hotel for several years and it's still a work in progress but was nice and comfortable. Fans could be used in rooms as temperatures were unseasonably high and the Windows didn't provide adequate ventilation after... More

Went with my partner for his 40th birthday weekend. Although it could do with some redecoration it was still stunning inside and out. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The castle sits in beautiful well kept grounds. Would definitely stay here again.

The castle is really old and authentic experience to stay. The service is not bad but don't expect too much. There are two residence horses on the grounds which are good for photo moments. We were given a room with jacuzzi in it which hot water runs out after a while so watch that bath, lol.

We called into Melville Castle for coffee and to see the property as there is a family historical link. To say the service was bad would be an understatement, it was so bad it became laughable and can only be compared to an episode of faulty towers. The man behind the bar could not make tea and coffee of operate... More

We stayed only one night thank goodness! Out of our 21 day European vacation this place was the worst! We couldn't wait to leave. Gross. Dirty room, run down carpets. We ate dinner there, dining room was filthy. I understand its supposed to look "old", but they could wipe off the dried food on the seats and walls. The menu... More

We have just spent one night at Melville Castle. First impressions were good. Large driveway, grand entrance hall. Our room was fine, but tired! The mirror was to the left of the desk, not in the middle Etc. Touched that make it better were missing. Having been elsewhere and eaten is a seafood restaurant of exceptional quality, we were not... Beautiful place to stay. All staff were very friendly, approachable and nothing was any bother and are a credit to Melville. Room was amazing.
