We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean, and kept clean during our visit. The house is kept in good repair with everything working as it should. The bus stop is a few steps away with buses every 10-12 minutes. The breakfast each day was exceptional. The dogs know their place and were no bother. However,... More

Room I booked given to someone else. Had to sleep on uncomfortable sofa bed. Very rude owner who told me to find somewhere else if I was not happy. Did not return the next night and had to cut short my weekend trip. Only positive was not charged. His parting comment was bet you do this all the time Then... More

1. Despite saying it was a lovely room you expressed unhappiness to my wife that you were to have a sofabed. I have slept on it and found it comfy. My wife said she couldnt cope with you . It happens once a year . I had just returned from a dog walk and was unbriefed about your situation. 2.... More

We stayed overnight but unfortunately had to leave before sampling breakfast. Comfortable spacious ground floor room. Beautiful grounds. Welcoming host who was able to give us local restaurant recommendations. Would rate at 3.5 good.

Nice clean guesthouse with a price that was affordable. Good location with easy access for buses in to Edinburgh. Dalkeith offers some quite good alternatives for eating out. There are also quite a few pubs. Breakfast could be improved, otherwise we are very satisfied with our stay.

We enjoyed having you to stay and enjoyed our chats. As always we do our best. In 17 years set out our stall to have a "no fry zone " and to ensure half of our 8 morning cooked options are fine scottish fish. Not sure how we could improve on berry based fruit salads fresh bread oatcakes and porridge.... More

My parents have stayed here countless times over the last 20 years. This time I was invited to visit Scotland with them with my 3 month old daughter. We rented the 2 bedroom flat which is an extension to the original building. It was absolutely lovely with a beautiful garden. The owners really do make you feel welcome and nothing... More

We didnt get to talk, but if you are as nice as your mum and dad, you will have a happy life. Your Dad would describe me as a "pongo" ...he will explain. I am really sorry about the poor weather when you were here. It meant you could not enjoy the garden at its best. Thank you for your... More

Clean and comfortable and very welcoming to my whippet - we were en route to a show at Ingliston. Mr Macrae was very helpful in describing possible places to eat in the evening and his recommendation was spot on. My only regret was that I did not have time to do justice to the wonderful breakfast. Lots of room to... More
