We are very surprised to read your opinion of Fraoch Lodge. We have been sending our laundry out to a professional laundry in Aviemore for over a year now and have always been pleased with the service they provide. Our meals are provided from fresh, local produce often grown in our own garden and made up into very tasty, home... More

Everything about Fraoch Lodge is like a good hostel not a b&b. You must come with the right expectations. Room are very basic - narrow, short single beds (there were 3 in my room!) cheap (but adequate) bedding, no chair or place for clothes, VERY poor decor. I was lucky enough to have a shower, basin and toilet ensuite -... More

Thank you for taking the time to give us your views. You will be pleased to know that we are addressing the decor now it is in the end of the season and we are able to paint and decorate without giving rise to complaints from our guests. Our mattresses have been renewed in the month and we are installing... More

Greetings again! I thought I already did this one a while back, it seems that I have not reviewed this wonderful place, even after two visits in 3 years (the time bit is important, as you shall discover). So the first time was a 10 day Birding trip all around the Cairngorms and the Scottish coast during spring. The Lodge... More

We stayed for 4 nights and did 3 days of tailored hikes at Fraoch Lodge (means Heather) with Andy & Rebecca in Boat of Garten. They are a British couple that has run the lodge/B & B for the past 17 yrs. Andy leads organized trips (Scot Mountain Holidays) but also does tailored itineraries for folks like us who didn’t... Stayed here with my wife for a couple of nights. Boat of Garten is a lovely village and it's well located near the centre of the village. It's a bit different from a traditional B & B. in some ways, more like an extended family home. We were welcomed anto the lounge which I think the family share with the... More

The accommodations were clean and well maintained. Rebecca's cooking at dinner was truly amazing. Her baking is also out of this world. Andy's knowledge of the Cairngorms and surrounding area is remarkable. I always knew that I was in good hands. I was the slowest in the group and he always came back to check on me and "chat" while... More

Friendly and welcoming owner and a lovely atmosphere all around. The included breakfast came with home made bread and spreads, which was so good we took some home with us. Great location too in a beautiful village. Would definitely visit again!

We stayed for two nights as had an event in Inverness - not too far to travel to Inverness (just 20-30 minutes) The owners were very welcoming and made us feel at home. Beds were comfy and room was warm. Breakfast was tasty - especially the porridge :) I would definitely stay here again - beautiful gardens

Perfect place to visit the Cairngorms and surrounding area. We had the cooked breakfast and found the rooms comfortable. We particularly enjoyed sharing stories with the hosts Rebecca and Andy and with other guests in the lounge. Highly recommend this very comfortable hostel.

Wonderful homely lodge, with a communal lounge and dining room which means that you get to meet and interact with other guests. We didn't eat here, but the food looked fantastic and was thoroughly recommended by those who did. We were there for nature photography and there was a nice piece of woodland behind the lodge which yielded crossbills and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We invite guests in to our home, Fraoch Lodge, to use as if it were their own. You can sit in our lounge in front of the open fire, join us for meals (or cook your own); share stories of your adventures or play board games. We have chosen not to put a TV into the Lodge, but instead supply games and books. We also offer guiding services for walks and tours around our local area showcasing places which enhance your knowledge of our area; some of which you may well not have heard about. We have a single room and a triple room, but most of our rooms are twins. 2 Rooms have private bathroom facilities. Some rooms can be combined to offer as family accommodation areas. We hope to see you in the Highlands of Scotland shortly. ... more   less
