Our family of 4 (and a dog) had a wonderful week in cartshed cottage. The cottage has everything you could ever need, it is very well equipped. The owners gave us great tips for walks and cafes (Jill's catering in Catton & Carriages in Bellingham, both great). We highly recommend going to Vindolada ruins and the army museum. Our kids (11 & 9) loved both sites. Kielder forest is not too far either. Hexham is also a wonderful town to walk around, relax an eat out. If weather allows the outdoor pool in Haltwhistle is also very good although on the expensive side. The walk from Steel Rigg and Housestead is also a must do with breathtaking views. We would have happily stayed another week.

The best presented and equipped holiday accommodation we have stayed in. Each bedroom was en suite with amazing soft, large towels and toiletries provided. The kitchen had everything needed and the knives were actually sharp for a change! An extremely useful laundry and drying room too although we had such good weather this was hardly used. A delicious homemade cake and farm honey we’re waiting for us and there was milk in the fridge. Jackie and Dave were very welcoming hosts without being intrusive. We can thoroughly recommend this lovely cosy holiday barn which has stunning views too and is ideally placed for all the Roman sites in the area.

Grindon Cartshed is exactly what you are looking for if you want an escape from the craziness of life. It is located in the heart of the stunning Northumbian countryside just a short walk from Hadrian’s Wall. Jacky and Dave have created a lovely home from home, it has three large bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, there is a well equipped kitchen and laundry room and the living room has floor to ceiling views of a landscape that soothes the spirit. You will share this bit of paradise with a little flock of curious Ryeland sheep, bold chickens, countless wild birds (including House Martins, Swifts, Song Thrush and Sparrow) and last but by no means lists ‘Kitty’ and adorable tabby who sat with us on the sofa everynight! Thanks to Jacky and Dave I would give 6 stars if I could

We visited Grindon Farm for a break in Feb 2017. We have already booked for 2019. The place is fantastic. The views are spectacular and the snow did not detract from that. Our son was studying the Romans at school and with Hadrians Wall just up the road, History came alive. The disability access is literally second to none and I would say to anyone. If you age not been here yet, you are missing a absolute gem. The people are friendly and our children loved the holiday and there was not an x box in sight. Brilliant.
