I stayed here while doing fieldwork in the local area. The hotel is in a beautiful location right next to the river and offers outside seating. The hotel had a car park but it was quite full so we had to use street parking. The room was small but had everything you needed and if not it was available upon... More

I have visited The Anchor 2 years ago for a meal, and a year ago in different circumstances when my car had a tyre blow out on me and I needed help, but this third visit was far more pleasant. I'd been on a visit to Chesters Roman Fort and knew The Anchor's reputation for meals was high and prices... More

All hail to the chefs!! The Anchor is a hidden gem in Haydon Bridge with a spectacular view. We spent one night at the hotel & had 3 wonderful meals! First, a speedy, late lunch before a tour of Hadrian's Wall, then an outstanding dinner of Beef & Mushroom Pie & the Anchor Burger, followed by a divine chocolate cake... More

The staff give a fantastic welcome. The food is superb. We have come here especially for the food so many times, and each time they excel themselves. It's fabulous. This is a old pub with a fascinating history, and has been beautifully upgraded very recently. I have visited with a group, which was excellent in service and facilities, and my... More

This is an old hotel with interesting history. The owners are slowly doing the place up but in the mean time we found the room warm and clean as was the ensuite. The breakfast was very well cooked and the staff were attentive. I would be more that happy to stay again as I am sure as time goes by... More

I stayed at The Anchor for one night recently with my partner and was very impressed with everything! We stayed in room 4 which was lovely - I'd never stayed in a B&B before and wasn't sure what to expect but it really did exceed my expectations. Lovely bright, clean room and well presented room with a big comfy bed... More

We stopped for a Sunday lunch on our return home from Edinburgh because we knew that the quality of the food, service and friendly staff is second to none. We also took the opportunity to book a longer stay later in the year. You will not find a more welcoming restaurant or hotel in the country. We cannot recommend The... More
