Travelers' Choice
We are a Fairytale Shire with various accommodations, including the only real Hobbit Houses in the world, Gypsy caravans, Shepherds huts, Story Book holiday cottage, caravan and camping, etc. We will soon be starting to build Hagrids hut from the Harry Potter films; again, as far as we know, we will be the only people in the world to have a real Hagrids hut Our yurt cafe will be ready for summer 2016 and we start our North Shire Enchanted weddings from early 2017. We are a young family with passion and drive for creating the most magical place for families. We came with nothing and have worked hard to get to where we are now. We value our customers very much and do try to make people very happy as we get a lot out of that, especially seeing children (large and small ) with huge smiles of excitement on their faces; that is just awesome. We do what we love and we love what we do ;)

The North Shire is a lovely place to Stay and Is not far from Whitby. Their is a variety of huts with different themes on the inside and Coloured outside and are more Glamping then camping. They also have self contained accommodation that is done in hobbit theme etc. The animals were on our doorstep which my grandson loved from early morning to late. The staff are friendly and helpful and one lady cleaning the property was very helpful and knowledge able about things and showed a commitment to the Shire and was enjoying Work and not just doing A job. Well done to all the Shire team we have booked to go back as a nice relaxed atmosphere a gem worth a visit.

We took our kids to this magical hobbit house. The facilities are amazing, and the house is a good small replicate of Bilbo's hobbit hole. Kids love the dormitories, and all the animals around, including a male and female peacocks. The house was also very quiet and private.

Room Tip: A very quiet and private place. You barely see other visitors staying in other accommodation...

We have recently returned from a four night visit to the Unicorn Hut at North Shire. The first thing to say is that this really is a family friendly venue, my children have had the best time. They loved the hut, loved the grounds and loved the play area! They definitely did not want to leave. However, I have a few reservations, mostly around the accommodation. The hut itself looked lovely and the all the unicorns are a nice touch, however on closer inspection, it could do with a bit of maintenance done on it. The windows don't close properly so there is a gap which allowed the wind to blow through. There are also some holes in the wooden floor, which again allowed the wind to blow through. And I really think curtains are needed as we were woken by the early morning sunshine each day. We didn't see anyone who managed the site during our stay and no-one came to see if we were ok (a welcome pack was dropped off after two nights) although I do appreciate there is a high turnover of visitors to the huts, however a quick "is everything ok" would have been nice especially as we were there for four nights. Additionally, I was aware that the hut came with an outdoor gas cooker, however I hadn't realised that I'd have to bring additional gas cannisters with me (lack of experience on my behalf) so we were unable to have a morning brew on our first full day. However, I would recommend this site to other families as we did have a good time. The facilities were nice and clean, although there is only one shower for women and one for men.

Absolutely gorgeous location, the accomodation was very clean and i loved the details that made it feel like we really were staying in The Shire in Middle Earth. The check in and check out was very simple and the cottage itself was very cosy and comfortable. The little garden area out front was lovely and a perfect place to sit and read in the morning with a cup of tea while eating second breakfast. The view from the front garden was absolutely breathtaking. Will definitely be staying again in the future

We booked the North Shire Shepherds huts (The Greatest Showman) for my daughters birthday with two of her friends. They/ absolutely loved it. So cosy, warm, quiet and clean. We set up the laptop in the evening and snuggled up to watch a movie with a chinese delivered to us and our little heater on. Clean toilet and shower facilities and left to our own devices... and Whitby just down the road, we had a lovely time. Back again next month.
