Positives- the hotel is in a wonderful position, just across from a light shingle beach. The sea is crystal clear and warm even at six in the morning. The pool area looks nice but we didn’t use it as the sea was so good.

Reception is big and airy and the bar did try and lay in entertainment, although the quality wasn’t something you’d write home about- quite amusing at times though, especially the singers for whom you had to guess the song.

Air conditioning in the rooms worked well and the balconies are big. Cleaners did a good job. The lady on coffee and tea in the morning was lovely and served with a smile.

Negatives- the rooms are not as advertised; they are old, wooden and very basic. The ones advertised are the premium rooms, not the general ones.

The showers on the fourth floor were pathetic; the water dribbled out and there was no way of regulating it, one minute freezing, the next boiling.

I’m not sure where people who rated the breakfasts were eating but it must have been elsewhere as the were incredibly poor. Some days we were lucky enough to get yesterday’s boiled carrots or ratatouille and the omelette resembled one of the yellow dish scourers we get back at home. The fried eggs, when available were cooked to within an inch of their lives and the sausages (mini hot dogs) were luke warm at best. The highlight (sarcasm) was definitely getting a cup of tea or coffee and having to queue up like school children rather than be allowed to use a machine ourselves. I saw in an earlier review that the man serving tea and coffee always did so with a smile, however I never even managed to get a kalimera from him, nor a thank you ( ef karisto) and certainly never a smile. He also takes this cheer to the bar in the evenings. He was only surpassed in misery by the surly food replenisher who just growled his way through service.

Thankfully the local restaurants are excellent. A special mention goes to Mezza Volta as they served the best sardines I’ve ever eaten.

Beach beds are eight euros a pair with umbrellas and a drink each. The guy running them is very helpful.

The buses are packed between 8:30 and 10:00 going to Corfu Town and at lunchtime coming back. Queuing does not exist so prepare your elbows. And buy the tickets from the shop next to the hotel and the return from the bus terminal in Corfu Town as it is cheaper than buying them in the bus ( no6).

In a time when many of the hotels are closed, the Potamaki Beach Hotel has done well to accommodate the changes required to keep guests safe and well.

The hotel is exceptionally clean and whilst it is only a 3 Star hotel guest get a 5 Star welcome. The pool is lovely and the system for making sure that the sun beds are sanitised has worked well (the only problems are caused by ignorant guests).

The food is very good though I suspect that there would be more choice under normal circumstances. If I have one complaint it is the fact that I am now sick of eating melon for dessert!

This is clearly a family run business and the owners have gone out of there way to make us feel welcome in exceptional times. Would we come back? “Yes” though only if we get something other than melon!

The hotel itself could do with a good make over, our room was lovely with stunning views over the sea, but the bathroom needed some attention to detail, showers/sink/shelve all loose, the rooms are cleaned every morning.
The bar had no real atmosphere, people dont tend to come out till 10pm to watch the entertainment which was on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, the other nights the bar was really quiet.
The swimming pool was clean and ok, though people tend to put their towels down first thing in the morning, then spend the whole day at the beach to then return later in the afterrnoon which was really fustrating! Near the pool there is a horrible sewage smell as you walk to it, which isnt pleasent.
Across the busy road, is a lovely beach, 10e for 2 lounders and 2 drink!
The food was not good at all, we're not fussy eatters but it was one of the worse buffets I've ever seen, especially breakfast, long queues for drinks (hot and cold) as you can't help yourself!
I think the hotel is really missing a trick, its got so much potential if they just put some money into, its in a prime location and the amount of people that walk by and dont even look in as theres nothing exciting going on most nights is such a shame!

Hotel a bit dated but overall welcoming. The strengths are the proximity to the sea, the cleanliness of the sheets and the good quality/price ratio. We got a room with a balcony for free instead of the one without a balcony we had booked. You can have dinner for 12 € extra directly at the hotel.
In general, the evaluation could have been surely higher but on certain issues I cannot compromise. Lack of attention to issues related to COVID. In common places many people wore no masks and none of the staff ever reprimanded them. The room we received on arrival was overrun with ants; we only got a change the next day after being wrongly accused of being the cause of the problem by having food brought to the room. Excluding the two younger guys, the staff is arrogant and rude and often uninformed. The last day we left shortly before breakfast time, which we had paid for, but it was denied in an incredibly rude way after we were assured the night before that we could get something a little early on the scheduled time. No convenience can justify such a rude attitude. Those who are aggressive should not be able to work in contact with the public.

Difficult to know where to start as Potamaki just kept on giving. From the moment we arrived it was pleasantries. The friendliness was obvious from the outset. It wasn't long before I felt like family. Ok, so I'll start with the hotel first, it is spotless, in a great location, rooms just amazing, views to die for. Enough of a choice in buffet for everyone, breakfast and dinner. This hotel has upped the ante in a huge way to conform with Covid guidelines and it was done seamlessly. Now for the staff, they just could not do enough for you. They treat you like their very own family. It is a family run hotel and it shows. Nothing was a problem. It became obvious that I wasn't the only one to think this place is a piece of magic, people started extending their stay, including myself by many weeks. I felt I was at home. I am afraid to leave anyone out by naming names but I have to mention Jerry, Giorgos, Victoria, Spiros, Sokrates, Vasilis, Olga, the beautiful girls that looked after my room and reception, Horace and all the beautiful women that could not do enough to make you feel welcome. All of the restaurant staff, thank you to all for making what should have been 12 days and turned out to be 4.5 weeks, a time of my life. I'm not mentioning my room number as I want it to be available for me when I want to return but let's say, they are all beautiful and I, personally like sea view but some might prefer pool or mountain view, you have all the options at the Potamaki. This hotel in Benitses is special and clearly from all the returning guests it will remain on my list. It is near an array of restaurants if you fancy eating out. Bus stop directly across road to Corfu town, nice journey. Beach directly across road from hotel which you will see from photos on hotel website. If you choose to use beach, you pay for sunbeds but hey, they don't stop there, they bring you a beer at the same cost (or any drink you want), this is just a way of ensuring the guests of the hotel have the option of using the sunbeds, I think but is so pleasant. Poolside is so comfortable too, lovely pool and kids pool also. I would highly recommend this hotel for any type of traveller, single, couples, families. I very nearly forgot to mention the entertainment. I had such a great few nights enjoying the Greek dancers, they danced their hearts out and I have huge admiration for them, they put on a great show and entertained everyone fabulously. Thank you to all at Potamaki Beach Hotel. Will never forget 2020, a year of tough times for all but you would never know it as you all smile so much and therefore make others smile that may also be feeling the effects of last few uncertain months. Congratulations to you all for doing what you do in such tough times. I will be back. That's a certainty.

Myself and my partner have just returned from our third visit to benitses and stay at the potamaki hotel. Once again it was a wonderful relaxing stay. The staff are always helpful and any issues we had with the room were resolved quickly . Yes there was a problem with breakfast this year as food had to be served by staff which resulted in long queues , so we had to get up very early every day to get down to avoid it. That said this wasn’t the fault of the hotel , but one of the problems caused by covid and imposed on them. Having to serve all food rather than it being buffet help yourself style as other years . The hotel was full of hand sanitizers and felt very safe. The pool was lovely and clean as usual and never a shortage of sun beds. No fighting over the loungers at this hotel. The only issue we had this year was very low water pressure in room 416 which resulted in having to run round in the shower every night to try and get the drips on you :). Or standing covered in shampoo or soap waiting for the water to start again. We accepted it as good old Greek plumbing and embraced the game each night ! Our daily sport on the beach was watching the newcomers stand in the sea and wait for the screams when the bitey fish struck ! Every years these little blighters have been in the sea and bite you if you stand still , we quickly learnt this our first year and constantly tread water in the sea ! :). Over all a lovely stay again and we were very sad when the time came to go home .

The only positive thing was the location (in the beginning of benitses with the sea infront of the hotel and the bus station ) and the view NOTHING ELSE

The air condition doesn’t work good so as the fridge(we left the waters all nights and they weren’t even cool) . The bathroom is very small and inconvenient especially the bathrooms curtain that doesn’t switch places like left and right only in the center . Also not clean at all from the beginning , they didn’t change the sheets and we stayed four days .(my sheet was also with old marks from the start ) . The staff is not welcome at all expect from one young man and the breakfast not worth its money at all !!! Little variety and inside with long lines of people waiting for one or two employees to put in plates the food the customers choose ( I didn’t eat because I was bored to wait and I didn’t like the food at all )

For the money it costs it’s not worth it at all

stayed for 7 night early August. Great hotel, really nice staff expecially the bar staff, always say hello when you pass. Pool nice and always a sun bed free. Excellent beach bars just across the road where you can use the sun beds for free when buying your drinks there for the day. We requested a quiet room with a sea view and got an excellent room top floor with a sea view but not at the front of the hotel so was lovely and quiet. Had a great holiday and hope to come back again.

There are good and bad things about this hotel. The location is amazing with lots of restaurants nearby and the beach on the other side of the road. Right outside the hotel there is a bus stop, from where you can go to Corfu city by bus for 1,50 euro. The hotel is clean, has a nice pool area and activities like ping pong and greek dancing. View from the balcony was great.
Most of the staff were also nice and helpful.

With that said, you can tell that the hotel is old. The beds were not comfortable, the elevators felt unsafe and the shower was not working well. You also have to pay extra money for a sunbed at the beach and the breakfast was not that good.

But, for the affordable price, we would stay here again. There are more pros than cons and all in all we were happy with our stay at Potamaki.

We booked this hotel at short notice after deciding to take a short break in Corfu. The hotel was perfect. It’s around a 25 min taxi ride from the airport (€35).

The beach is directly outside the front of the hotel (across the road), supermarket next door, bus stop opposite, and within 5 mins walk of several restaurants. The harbour is a 10 min walk away.

The hotel has it’s own swimming pool (although the sea was warmer!).

The rooms were very clean and tidy, maybe a little dated, but for the price we paid, great value for money.

The air conditioning / heating / cooling was very effective.

Highly recommended, we would definitely stay again.
