A perfect place to stay in Corfu. Lovely host. We stayed at the poolside ground floor. Amazing views, big clean pool, easily accesible by car or bus. If you have to complain about anything it would probably be the sound isolation between rooms.

We chose Oceanis due to the raving reviews on Trip Advisor. To begin with, we were a little disappointed, however the pros far outweight the cons, and each day, we grew fonder and fonder of the Oceanis. Firstly, you would be hard pressed to find a better location to enjoy uninterrupted, gorgeous views. Unlike many hotels on Corfu, the hotel is right above the water (while many hotels have the road between them and the sea). Every single room has a balcony with views. The location may be a bit isolating for some as it is a hot and slightly dangerous (windy, skinny road with crazy drivers)15 minute walk into the two nearest towns (Barbati and NIkasi) for a shop or choice of restaurants, The rooms are very inexpensive - we paid about 75E a night for a large apartment and the small double rooms were only 50E. All the food and drinks at the hotel were all very reasonably priced too. The pool and banana lounges and relaxing area are lovely (although be warned, BYO towels). Of course you get what you pay for but due to the glowing reviews, I expected the apartment to be simply furnished but much better than it was, and certainly not with so many drawbacks. The worst was that the bed was really uncomfortable - it was a new mattress but the coils stuck into your back. The simple furnishings are all quite fine and our bathroom had recently been renovated although you couldn't use the very tiny shower without flooding the whole floor. The kitchen was very unappealing and rundown although there would be no need to use it unless you were travelling with children. There is a "safe" which is really like a petty cash tin that has been screwed very amateurly onto a removable shelf. There are a few sliding windows but it seemed they had forgotten to instal a lock one of them so anyone could slide it open and enter from the outside; not a great feeling of security when you are out on a boat all day and leaving your valuables in the room. The room had good air con and were very clean. Others have raved here about Dimitri's cooking; I guess that is subjective but deep frying everything is not to my taste. Almost all the tavernas on Corfu ran much the same menu though with not quite as much deep frying. Dimitri's moussaka was a standout though. There is a bar area which was open very long hours and there were 2 handy internet computers and wifi throughout though it was very patchy. There is access to a small beach a short walk away for a beautiful dip. The staff at Oceanis are what made it for us apart from the location. The lovely David and Vanya were a highlight as waiters, and one of them is there all day from about 8am to at least midnight to serve you with food, drinks, icecreams etc. Nikos the owner hooked us up with whatever we needed by way of boat, car, taxi, map etc. Nikos knew everyone by name and had special treats for those who are regular customers or celebrating an event. You can really see why he has so many return customers. With a nicer mattress and some overdue maintenance, this would be an absolute delight.

Firstly the price was very competitive and considering the location with uninterrupted water views, great value. I enjoyed our stay very much having relaxing times by the pool & many lovely meals at the outdoor dining area over looking the incredible ocean views. The little rocky beach was lovely with clear & water.
The negatives were the bathroom was in poor condition, no lock on the window that opened on to the road. The shower was tiny and cramped and flooded the floor after use.
The mattress in the bedroom was thin and quite uncomfortable. The security box in the wardrobe was a small cash tin screwed into the shelf and easily removable by lifting the wooden shelf out. The wifi hardly worked. The TV small, and very fuzzy pictures but I didn't come to Corfu to watch TV so not really an issue. The pool was nice but unfortunately blue paint came off onto your feet and hands.
Nikos was kind and helped us with boat hire and suggestions and we enjoyed the staff especially Vanya & David who were friendly and attentive.
I know they are upgrading many of the rooms but the overall building just needs some regular maintenance though for Greece this is quite typical.
I would recommend as the price it's good value, the food very good and of course that view. A very enjoyable stay.

Oceanis Rooms is located in Barbati, 19 km from Corfu town and it is build really on the rocks above the sea, surrounded by all kind of trees in a very beautiful green environment. There is a footpath going down to the sea, in a small “private” beach. There is also the big organised sandy beach of Barbati village, 1 km away and there you can also find tavernas and mini markets.

There are 15 rooms, which are big enough and all of them have a magnificent sea view. All the rooms have en-suite facilities, shower, satellite TV and air-conditioning. But cleaning is only two times on week and linen changing only once a weak, which is below standards.

Breakfast is served on the pool-side taverna, which also has the same beautiful sea view, but there is no buffet. The owner serves you just a cup of coffee, a glass of juice, bread, butter, marmalade and either a poor toast or an egg (only one!!!). This is probably the poorest breakfast I’ve ever eat on a hotel… In the tavern you can also have lunch or dinner, but nothing very inspired and a little bit overpriced.

The pool is not very big but it seems clean enough at most times. There are also free sun-chairs around it. There is also an open car-parking and a little pool-side bar.

If there was a better cleaning service in the rooms and a richest breakfast I would give them 5 stars, just for the location and the view, which was probably the best I’ve ever seen. A beautiful panorama… Also, a double room with breakfast only costs us 30 € per night on September, which is a really bargain.

The snag is that you can't walk to a village in either direction, so you do need transport. It's too far, and no pavement, so it really feels quite dangerous. But mopeds are only 25 euros a day and you can just about walk to a moped hire place in Barbati. There is also a bus stop which takes you to Corfu Town or the lovely Kassiopi. And the fact that you're not in a town makes it quiet (in our room we couldn't hear the road at all). Though if there is a family with kids staying then you'll hear them shouting in the pool all day - the photos only show the pool when it's free from kids! And of course you have the ever present neighbours smoking on the next balcony or smoking by the pool. But we found a peaceful solution by walking two minutes (NE) along to the Glyfa taverna and beach - the beach is small, sandy/stony, great for swimming off, with an expensive but above averagely delicious taverna, you could hire boats there and go to Agni or Kassiopi if you wanted, and they play excellent music ~ not the dreaded Greek bazouki but www.echoes.gr chill music. So in a way the fab pool and views were wasted since we mostly went out, but in the evening the view across the bay is indeed stunning. And our room was fine - bed not brilliantly comfortable but room cleaned every day, fridge, wifi, etc. And very helpful and nice staff. Good breakfast too. But if you want lively then stay in a town, and if you want peaceful then go somewhere more remote like Paramonas.

With over 20 years in the hotel business and currently working at the only 7 Star hotel in the world (Burj Al Arab – Dubai) I thought I knew everything about hospitality, but our stay at Oceanis has reminded me of the most basic things that make a hotel unique and special which is sincere and passionate service!

My wife and I came from our fairytale wedding in Denmark and after one week in Paxos, and had quite high expectations from Oceanis based on all those amazing Trip Advisor comments we had read.

The rooms were perfect - clean, great size and nicely furnished.

Shortly after we arrived we sat at the restaurant next to the big pool overlooking the fantastic scenery of Corfu, then we met Vanya and David who served us the most incredible dinner created by Dimitri. WOW! We also got greeted & welcomed by Nikos, the owner of the hotel, an amazing welcome by amazing people with amazing food.
Throughout our stay we forgot about the rest of Corfu and became lifetime friends with Nikos, Vanya & David, not only because they were so incredibly good at their job but as they are truly amazing people.

We spend most of our time at the hotel as there was no reason to venture out, we felt like we were at home with our best friends and closest family.

A particular thing we liked was the attention to detail by the housekeepers who cleaned our room as soon as we went for breakfast and were finished by the time we returned. That is one of the little things one expects from an international 5-star hotel, not from a small independent hotel in Corfu, so nice, and when we did see the housekeepers in the hallway they were so nice and friendly even though they were busy.

With our half-board we had breakfast and dinner included, wow wow wow...looking at the menu you get confused from all the choices available, then having the food created by Dimitri – who is our gastronomy hero – was just beyond words, whatever we tried was so incredible, simple food becoming delightful creations of art in your mouth, no words can describe how much we loved his food.

We became lifetime friends with Nikos, Vanya and David...they all three deserve a special mention as they made us feel better than we ever felt in a hotel, and we have been to quite a few around the world and have also worked in quite a few around the world.

David welcomed us when we arrived and showed us to our room, throughout our stay we came to know David very well, he is great at his job and very ambitious. It’s quite admirable that being from Georgia and in the short time he lived in Greece David has already learnt Greek, besides knowing Georgian (his native), Russian, English and German. Very impressive!

Vanya had just arrived at Oceanis right before us, but she already had it under control. She was great fun and very entertaining, especially when she improvised in drinks making. She has a very loving nature, and it was very hard to leave her when the time came to return home.

We consider them both our friends and will for sure stay in touch with both of them and hope to see them here in Dubai or somewhere else.

We were also very impressed by Nikos, the hotel owner, who welcomed us when we came for our first dinner and made sure we were happy throughout our stay. We had some great conversations with him during our time there, very impressed by the hotel and reputation he has built up. We hope he gets to expand or build more hotels as his leadership style reflects in the staff and great atmosphere.

We had some great times with Vanya, David & Nikos, that have left us with new friends, more than anyone could expect from a hotel stay.

We simply loved Oceanis and will be most happy to recommend it to our friends and colleagues. We would love to come back to Oceanis and hope to get a chance to see our new friends anywhere else we can get an opportunity to meet up.

The Oceanis and its people made our honeymoon more special than we could have ever wished for.

Just back from a very disappointing 2 weeks on Corfu at The Oceanis Apartments. Driving round the island you can notice that the island is feeling the effects of the ongoing economic crisis especially were waste collection is concerned as nearly every village has its on mini rubbish dump this is especially evedent in the southern part of the island.
As has been said before the rooms are really dated and need some serious TLC. We stayed on the middle of 3 floors but access is at road level so lounge/kitchen area at the rear of the apartment was nosey due to traffic thundering along main road less than 10m from the front door. Small dining table with sofa bed and coffee table, small TV with local stations only. Kitchen has a small 2 ring & oven cooker with basic utensils and a ancient noisy fridge who's compressor is on overtime.
Bathroom compact and has the basics and as seems to be the norm in Greece shower attachments can be a problem and hand held is the way ahead. Hair dryer in bathroom but not hard wide in plug and socket bit dodgy but not as bad as choc box sitting exposed on top of bathroom cabinet. Water went off on 4 occasions during our stay and we hade to resort to heating bottled water to bathe prior to going out for the evening.
Spacious double room at the front of the apartment so screened from the traffic noise. Spectacular views from balcony across the bay to Corfu harbour and left to Albania. Bedroom has built in wardrobe with cash box secured to a shelf for a safe, bedside cabinets and small dresser with mirror. AC is included in price so bit of a bargain but it don't half get hot on the balcony due to heat from AC external unit at floor level.

During our stay there was a constant swarm of wasp hovering around the the pool and dinning area this resulted a couple of kids & adult being stung us included. Plenty of sun loungers and brollies to go around but once again these could do with refurbishing. There is a very small rocky cove at the bottom badly maintained path that is a bit treacherous in places so keep a tight hold on the kids. The cove itself stinks a bit of urine not sure if down to bathers or sewage outlet. There is poolside amenities but kitchen keeps to set opening times but drinks are served all day
The apartments are in the middle of nowhere and a car is a must to get around. You can walk to the nearest town Barbati in about 15 mins but it is along a very busy road with no footpath and only the last 300m has street lights, Barbati itself does not have a lot to offer 2 gift shops 2 bakeries, cashpoint and a couple of very quiet bars. The nearest shop is in a complex just on the outskirts of the town up a very steep hill. There are about 7 restaurants with 2 of these on the pebbled beach the rest on the short strip.and one cashpoint facility. There is a local bus stop on the outskirts of the village that will take u into Corfu town bus station for €4.80 As with the rest of Greece current financial troubles are taken their toll as is evident in the number of unfinished accommodation complexes and closed shops around the resort and island.
Checkout is before 12:00 but The every helpful staff will secure your luggage and if available give you use of a shower in an unoccupied room free of charge. We took advantage of this and were given the use of a 2 bedroom room on the top floor and this was far superior than ours on the middle floor.
The saving point of the whole 2 weeks was the Taverna Gyfa about 200m to the right of the complex not only was the food outstanding but there was a municipal pebbled beach with free sun beds and brollies. By far the best restaurant in the area as is evident with the constant stream of small boats stopping off for lunch. At night time can get very busy but this just ads to the atmosphere. Although prices are a bit more dearer than in town the staff and food make it value for money. Yanni and the crew do a fantastic job and go out of their way to make u feel special especially the kids.
As a stop of point for a couple of nights this would suffice but not for a 1 or 2 week holiday and especially if you have children. If you do request a top floor apartment be sure to make contact before arrival to confirm they have one available early booking is not a guarantee as we found out.

Apologies for long winded and negative report but like to put all the facts down to help reader research

My husband and myself stayed at the Oceanis mostly from the write ups on here. But also our needs are...Friendly people, fantastic view and comfy beds. We got everything we wished for and more.
I worked in travel for many years and have traveled to Greece many times. Over the years my expectations have been exceeded by the quality of the apartments/hotels now on offer. It certainly wasn't the case in the 70's and 80's. Nikos and the Oceanis did not fail to impress on any level. We did the half board option which was a first for us in Greece. But it was such a great deal we couldn't resist. The breakfast was outstanding with so much choice and huge portions. The same with the evening meals..the calamari was the best we have tasted and the stifado and moussaka was brilliant.
We had room 3 which was on the ground level so we entered it from the main road. The room was a 1 bedroomed and it was massive. The furniture was all new and nicely colour co-ordinated, very Ikea. Cleaned every day, shower was great hot water at all times.
I have read a previous comment about the road noise and I have to emphasize that we had NO trouble with noise, it could not be heard when you were sitting on the balcony drinking an ice cold Mythos, that is for sure..It could not be heard from the bedroom either we slept really well.
Yes there was traffic going past, but hey, we had much better things to do than stand in the car parking area counting cars and seeing how loud they were ;0)
Nikos is a very kind, unassuming and almost humble man. He and his staff were friendly but not in any way pushy. You were made to feel welcome and help was always at hand. He has every reason to be very proud of the Oceanis.

We have just returned from a perfect holiday staying at Oceanius at Barbarti. It was a week of cloudless blue skies, beautiful views and crystal clear water. The views of the sea from the balcony of each room are quite simply stunning. Perched on a small cliff the hotel there is a tiny beach accessed via a short walk through the olive grove. Perfect for us as we were the only ones there being so early in the season. Or a 5 minute walk takes you to Glyfa beach with a taverna and sun loungers and umbrellas. The food at Oceanis was freshly prepared using local ingredients and we ate our way through most of the menu during the week, having soon realised that it held its own amongst competitors.

Nikos, the owner manager with his sister, could not have done more for us. He was generous with his time and a delight to talk to as we discussed what we should see each day. His suggestions were thoughtful and showed us the best of the island.

Nothing was too much trouble and we enjoyed our evenings on the terrace downing metaxa and ouzo and watching the sunset. The staff are friendly and efficient, our rooms cleaned each morning with a smile. It is not five star luxury – the five stars are for the hospitality and stunning views. Perfect for us.

I don't know about the bus, but saw people waiting at a stop near the apartments. There is a lock box in the room. There is a taverna nearby (excellent and with beach services), but we drove into barbati (3-5 minutes) for grocery. You could probably walk (2km?) but would fell dangerous to me with crazy roads and traffic. Barbati had lots of water sports and excursions. I understand many places will even pick you up by boat from your hotel.
