Firstly before we got there I emailed them twice and so did my hubby we never had any response back . We booked for two weeks half board . When we booked in we was told are evening meal we had to go to the restaurant down the road but we couldn’t go there till half nine at night . The room was average. Taps hanging off the wall curtains coming down no coat hangers . They would come between 4/6 in the afternoon to do your room . And the air con didn’t work and yes we complained but nothing was done And it was just a flit round not even making the beds just pulling the covers back . Didn’t have sheets changed in two weeks . The baby pool has a leek and when it gets low it makes a really bad noise. But they don’t seem to care . And top it back up . The pool was green round the edge been coming here for years and now and it’s going down hill fast . Only good thing was breakfast..!!!

When the six of us arrived at 1.30 , we were told our 3 rooms would not be available until 3pm , we asked if we could have lunch from the pool bar or the hotel’s restaurant, unfortunately not they could offer us toast ! The pool bar /snack was not open at all .
Location is ideal 8 mins walk to the beach , bars and restaurants.
Our rooms were clean but dated , no tea or coffee making facilities,. Hard uncomfortable chairs on the balcony.
Swimming pools well maintained but sadly tired looking with old sun beds scattered around. But wonderfully quiet and empty .
We were half board when enquiring about our evening meal , we were told that dinner was no longer served at the hotel , the restaurant was 1 kilometre walk up the hill to the right !!! When we complained about walking in 30 degrees
The barman call a friend who took us there in his tiny car and kindly collected us an hour and a half later. The restaurant was extremely quiet, no atmosphere but the food was ok , with limited choice .
We informed the hotel that we would not be going to dinner for the next 6 nights , I believe 1 dinners was in Lagos, with transport but at a set time !!
Breakfast was good , except the coffee and watered down orange juice/squash

I stayed a night in this hotel and totally liked being here. Reception and service were friendly. The room and bed were huge for a single person. The buffet breakfast provided a lot of choices ... breads, deli meats and cheeses, all kinds of hot dishes, fruits, etc. The gardens are well maintained.

Good value for the money.

I came here for a week with my sister, as it’s her 60th in May so we thought we would have a little early holiday. Not a great time to come away as the coronavirus causing people a lot of worry & stress.
The rooms are very basic & dated. There are no tea/coffee making facilities. Although there is a fridge, it was only used for water & wine as there were no utensils to use if we wanted to put food in there. The room was clean.
The staff were helpful.
Because we went out of season, the hotel was extremely quiet, but we liked that. I could not imagine staying at this small hotel at a busy time.
The breakfast was very basic. Not a very good selection. The juices were not fresh, but made with powder. The English cooked breakfast option was dreadful.
The cleaners & reception staff were friendly but the person that stood out to us was Ricardo, as he was very attentive.
The gardens were being maintained while we stayed, so it got quite noisy with the machinery while we were trying to relax in the sun.
This holiday was a real bargain so I can’t grumble about the amount paid, as you get what you pay for, but it really should only be classified as a 3* maximum

From the outside this hotel appears well appointed and inviting. The exterior paintwork, pools(main pool needs attention) and gardens are well maintained. The bedrooms need refurbished and beds urgently need replaced. The mattresses are appalling for a 4* hotel. Breakfast is mediocre, some adjustments could be made to make it more appealing. Better selection of chilled fruits, professional coffee machine rather than flasks and new toasters would make all the difference but buffet hot breakfast was terrible. Decent selection of breads.
We were unaware that scuba divers would be training in the pool each morning so if you want to relax, forget it.
Sun loungers and umbrellas all need replacing so on my return I will need a visit to the chiropractor to sort out my back. We have stayed in Luz on many occasions previously and thought we would treat ourselves as we’ve not had a holiday in 3 years. At £140 per night the standards do not match the price unfortunately. Hotel staff were unhelpful with complaints and manager refused to speak with us. We asked for partial refund given the poor room standard and for us being unable to use the pool due to divers. This was refused by both hotel and booking.com.

AVOID THIS HOTEL!!
It certainly is not a 4*
It is lucky to be worthy of a 2*
I’ve never stayed in such an awful hotel.
Firstly the reception is where the bar is, basically it’s not a lounge you’d sit in, nor did I see anyone sit there at all.
We had a room on the first floor, very small spiral staircase to get a suitcase up was extremely hard, the lift was apparently broken.
The room is big but lacks charm and character, however it does have a fridge, strangely the tv was in the bedroom and not the lounge area?
The sofa was full of stains and uninviting

The beds? What can I say, they were like camp beds, 2 singles pushed together.
The mattresses were hard and pillows very soft but very very lumpy and very small hid know how old they are, never ever seen pillows so lumpy.

We did have a nice view but that was it.

Even the balcony was undesirable to sit out.
The lights were very low and made the room dark, which made putting makeup on hard.
There were some holes in the walls and it just felt unclean, the floor was filthy. Don’t know what the cleaners do apart from spray the room to make it smell clean.
And change towel if needed but you only get 1 hand towel, 2 females with long hair to wash need two hand towels.

The toilet inside needed a extremely good clean.

The shower was from the taps not an actual shower which went cold after the not even the first shampoo, we could showers properly the whole time we were there.
We complained about the shower going cold to be told one can’t shower straight after the other!!
We told them it was one person and it went cold after only 5 minutes if that, they said they’d take a look at it but not one had been in to look at it.

The included breakfast was dismal, very little selection, it was only open from 8.30 to 9.30
The English breakfast hot dog sausages and eggs were swimming in water.
Barely any fruits and no choice of different yogurts.
They turn off the heat for the hot breakfast well before 9.30.
We went twice as it was paid for but couldn’t stomach it anymore.
The grounds of the hotel looked nice but this hotel needs some TLC and a deep clean.
Staff could be more accommodating.
Won’t be going back!

My stay at the hotel was disappointing for several reasons. Firstly, check-in was delayed because the room was not ready at the scheduled time, despite our arrival at 2:30 p.m. Once in the room we were disappointed to find that the toilet had not been cleaned and one cushion had nasal discharge on it.

Additionally, the bed side air conditioning was blowing hot air, making our night uncomfortable. The lack of darkness in the room due to non-opaque curtains also prevented us from sleeping well, as we were woken up very early by the sunlight.

The behavior of the cleaning lady on the morning of our departure was also unpleasant. Despite the check-out scheduled for 12 p.m., she disturbed us at 11:30 a.m. to remind us to leave, while we were gathering our things.

Generally speaking, the level of cleanliness and maintenance service of the hotel leave something to be desired. It is essential that the establishment improves these aspects to provide a better experience to its customers. I sincerely hope that these issues will be taken into consideration and resolved for the well-being of future customers.

The hotel is a beautiful hotel complex in terms of construction and architecture with spacious rooms. However, it is in a very poor condition. The rooms are spacious but unfortunately most of the rooms need a renovation. The cleaning of the rooms also leaves a lot to be desired. When we arrived, everything was superficially clean and there were fresh towels. Unfortunately, on closer inspection, it has been a long time since it was thoroughly cleaned. On all the doors, you can see the dirt on the surfaces, probably from years ago. There were toothpaste splatters on the bathroom door, probably from years before. If you ran your flat hand over vertical surfaces, you had to wash your hands afterwards. There is a real pile of dirt on the stairs and in the hallways. They haven't seen a broom in a long time. Stairs, hallways and balconies could definitely do with a fresh coat of paint. The only person who does his job well is the gardener, the green areas were all in a very well-kept condition. The hotel advertises on its website that several languages are spoken at reception, including German. As a German with no knowledge of English, I unfortunately had to experience that no other foreign languages were spoken apart from Portuguese and English. I had also booked half board, but the hotel only offers breakfast. For dinner every evening I was driven in a rickety car to a restaurant outside of town. There were no other options and there were language difficulties there too. This hotel is far from a 4-star hotel.

Pool facilities very poor. We have an apartment in Luz and pay an annual fee of 500 Euro's to use the Hotels pool facilities.
Over the past two years the poor bar has not been open, however you can get drinks from reception and they do offer toast as a snack.
The umbrellas around the pool areas look very tired, some are even broken and the sunbeds are very dirty.
A lot of investment is needed to get anywhere near the Hotels star rating.

Considering it is the start of the season. The place is a disgrace over priced with hidden charges. Everything in need of an upgrade.and some things are just dangerous. Shower broken, mixer tap not mixing. Plug didnt fit the bath and half way through rinsing my hair with a glass. The hot water ran out. No cutlary, or plates, so eating out or eating their overpriced supermarket dinner where my only choises. Breakfast was dry and cold and had been sitting under heat lamps, instant coffee and juice. Not sure who they paid to get 4 stars. Was woken at 8am by maids knocking loudly on doors, only upside is it is close to the beach super gardens, lots of birds and nice staff. I certainly won't be back.

The hotel provides mobility rooms on the ground floor, rooms 1 and 2. Just ask for any of these rooms when booking. there is also a lift the serves the main block facing back to the hotel pools and reception but as previously mentioned, it is small.
