3,5. Could be a 4 star hotel if you could sit on your balcony without all cigarette smoke from balcony smokers, have your window open to the kids bedroom without all cigarette smoke, enjoy the pool area without smokers. My suggestions to Kastalli is to forbid smoking and guide smokers outside the hotel area. Welcome to 2023.

The garden is very nice and well taken cared of. The cleaning staff is fantastic and the rooms are OK for the price. Close to a nice beach but should be cleaned up regulary which it is not. No beach is apperantly.

Cleaning all days except Sundays. Bring private bath towels, the kitchenette is for very simple cooking, hard beds, air con in the rooms, three pool areas and one of them with a small/medium size waterland. Bar open all day until 23.00 or something. After that totally quiet which is good.

Dear Daniel ,thank you for your kind words!!!You are absolutely right!!!Smoking is prohibited in all internal areas of the hotel and of course inside the rooms!!! That's why we have smoke detectors every where! But unfortunately we don't have the authority to ban smoking in the balconies as it is concidered to be an outside area! Hope you have a nice summer! Best regards Giannis Markoulakis

Sat in the airport waiting to fly back to the UK after spending a week at kastalia village. We have had an amazing holiday. 2 adults 2 children (ages 10 and 13) and we stayed in a one bedroom apartment. It was plenty big enough with 2 sofa beds in the lounge and a big bedroom for the adults. We arrived at 2am and check in was easy and we were given a free big bottle of water which was greatly appreciated. The room was great , clean and the maids cleaned and did the bedding and towels daily. The pools are fantastic and a really relaxed feel. No one was hogging sunbeds! The water slides are ace and there's a jacuzzi for the adults too. Only down side is they close at 3pm. We hired scooters from next door which gave us freedom to explore the spectacular island. There are a handful of great tavernas within walking instance. Our favourite was at the beach straight down from kastalia. The food was great and the sunset incredible. We are sad to be leaving. Fantastic holiday. Thank you

My experience with this hotel was amazing. There was amazing staff, always ready to help you. Room was perfect, not too small and not too big for 2 adults + 2 kids. Atmosphere in hotel was good too, people were friendly, staff always wanted to help you and answer your questions. Another excellent thing is an aquapark, which was fantastic, only bad thing is that it closes at 3 p.m. Also there were games around the hotel, created by two amazing girls from animation team. They were from Sweden, but the spoke English very well. There were always a lot of people playing these games. Personally I took part in every game and I enjoyed it, so I hope you will enjoy it too.

Don’t even think of staying at this hotel. There were only one thing that was fantastic with this hotel. It was the life guard at the kids pool area. He was great. Very nice and very professional.

But back to the poor things:

The hotel didn’t have enough food in the restaurant. Nor for breakfasts or dinners. If you for example came to breakfast around 09.30 a lot of the food was finished and the restaurant didn’t fill it up. The plates were empty. As a result we were forced to leave the breakfast hungry. Same for the dinners. The food finished early. After that they didn’t cook any more food. No matter if you had pre payed for the food (half board with included dinner). See the pictures with examples of how the plates in the restaurant often looked at breakfast and dinners = empty! When trying to have a dialogue with the restaurant manager about this he was just very rude and very arrogant. The same restaurant manager had no clue what the food contained. We had one person who due to allergy can’t eat food containing nuts. The restaurant manager didn’t now if the food contained nuts. His message to us was that the person with allergy should eat only salad. That was his way of dealing with the question.

They try to make it look like they were serving water from new unopened plastic bottles. But the truth was that they only filled these bottles with water from the crane. Trying to pretend that the water came from new fresh bottles.

The hotel only cleaned our room three times during the week. When trying to have a dialogue with the reception manager about this she refused to admit that they had not cleaned the room. We were instead called liars by her.

The Air condition in our room didn’t work during the whole week. When trying to have a conversation about this with the hotel reception nothing happened.

So to summarise. Don’t visit this hotel.

arrived at the hotel for the agreed check-in at 14.00, was then informed that the hotel was overbooked and that they had provided us with a new hotel 15 min away. traveled to check out this hotel and had an unpleasant experience. the hotel had booked us into a hotel that was in bad condition and did not have enough beds for my family. This was not what I had paid for or ordered! I went back to the hotel I had originally booked, for this I do not accept. the staff was rude and unresponsive. was told to return at 19.00, with 3 children and after a long journey we were tired before the holiday had even started. when we again arrived at the hotel at 19, I was sitting with a child sleeping on my arm for 1 hour waiting for room.
again we got a room we had NOT booked, the staff therefore put in a camp bed and thought this was good service, even though we had booked a room with two bedrooms!
this hotel is bad and recommend to avoid this hotel..

We arrived after a long trip with canceled flights and tired kids. We had booked a two bedroom apartment since we are traveling with a baby. When we arrived they said that they had a one bedroom for us that would be available at 18.00 (note that our booking was from the day before).
We off course didnt agree to this. After alot of back and forth they offered us an apartment. The lady from the reseption followed my wife to the apartment, and to everyones surprise(?) there was people living there.
After that it went even worse. We asked if we would be compensated for the difference between the two bedroom and the one bedroom. The answer was no. When we, again, didnt agree to these terms. They continued to pay no attention to our situation with bags at our feet and crying tired children in our hands. After beeing treated in this manner for thirty minutes, we canceled our booking and moved to another Hotel. Having to pay 1000euro in the process. If you want to stay at a place wich treats their guests better than just a moneymachine, i would stay away from this place.

Perfekt family hotel, very nice outdoor areas, lots of palms and pools. When we were there it hit high thirty degrees, the outdoor area were a great place to stive off the heat. Fantastic personell, especially Konstantinos who always have a great solution whatever the case. Second time there, probably not the last.

Unbelievable bad service. They had overbooked and we had to fight and argue to get a room. We had booked a two room, and got a one room with an extra bed (field bed from 1940) and no refund. The managers are rude and offer no help at all. Would not recommend to anyone.

Just been for a 1 weeks stay in Creete and Kastalia village. Got a good first impresion of the hotel, and we got a welcome drink by the staff.
The hotel was clean, and the surrondings in the hotel was beautiful with many flowers -looked just like the pictures from the cataloge. Nice room with a balcony, and som basic kitchen aquitments. It had hairdryer(wich i didnt think they had). The room had tv, and also one tvchannel for each scandinavian visitors(NRK,DR1 SVT), and for germans and dutch.
The hotel was nice and quiet, very suitable for couples. It was not very many famylies with children here, but the hotel is in a way in the "middle of nowere"- Kolimbari, i think it will be more interesting for families to go other places. Platanias, agii Marina etc. The beach nearby is pebble, but it was ok.
Kolimbari had a few shops. But if you want to shop, buses runs frequently to Chania and other places.
Cleaning was good, the room was cleaned every day(exept sundays). Remember that in Creete you have to throw toiletpaper in a seperate basket. That was strange for us- but you get jused to it. If I have anything negative to say,it is that wildcats are everywhere, and som nights it was some noise frome the cats. The bed was a bit to hard for my liking.
But in all it was a really nice stay for us, friendly staf. I will go back to Kastalia for a quiet and relaxing holiday.
