Staff was highly professional, multilingual and very attentive. The reception was nothing short of lovely.Incredibly serene, variety of food to choose from being all inclusive plus free drinks on bottom shelf. The beach view made my stay totally worthwhile.Sweet selection of music as well.It really is a gorgeous place to stay. Not forgetting the ocean view room that my daughter and I stayed in - air conditioned, rooms open to balconies or patios.Free wifi available and free buffet breakfast on a daily.Flat screen television and housekeeping is provided on a daily basis. Also very child-friendly. I highly recommend!

The food was good. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. The AC was working great! An excellent experience for my family. It would have been great to have some entertainment for guests, but also, I might opine that some might prefer the quiet!

The Perfect Place to escape Winter. The people working there are extremely polite and the view With the palm trees and the ocean is gorgeous. Also there are huge buffets with various delicious meals.

Excellent customer service & I loved the relaxed ambiance. All staff members were very helpful and friendly. All inclusive was a good deal. Could improve on the buffet, maybe add some swahili cuisine.

Pretty Stunning place except for a few hiccups here and there ( Red faded towel with a horrible stale stench that makes them unbearable for use. It's funny because the towels by the pool are quite fresh but the room ones are stale. Also most of the staff members are rude and very unprofessional. I could hear many of the waitresses gossipping about their guests and clapping while laughing in plain sight. At the snack shack, which stands to be the best thing about the hotel, a waitress asked a guest " Watakaje?" mind you the guest was German and could not understand but she still proceeded to ask " hakitoshi ama nini?" How should we trust the refill water bottles? How do we know they're clean? We had to buy bottled water from outside. Not to mention the bottles also smelled stale or old. White guests here are made a priority. At the main bar, asked for some cocktails and the guys said they were busy but a minute later made one for other guests, white of course. Teach your staff to appreciate domestic tourist as well. This too happened while waiting in line for an omelette. Really? I could go on about the reverse racism here. It's pathetic honestly And there's no phone to reach front office yet our room way all the way up close to the gate. Our AC was broken and kept leaking throughout. It's not like they didn't know cause there was a Jerry can that caught the drips and constantly being poured off. No kids menu but it's okay. Salty water throughout the hotel: it's not okay. I hate to say but I wouldn't recommend.) Even so our stay was made easier by Edward at front office, Masa, Rama and the two beautiful hostesses. The food is average but the snack shack food is too tier.

Response from Karla Kampa, Owner at Diani Sea Lodge
Responded Jan 25, 2023
Dear Maureen G, Allow me to copy & paste the below response as these were the same issues raised by your family member (Mary G) on the previous review. ***Thank you for choosing to stay at Diani Sea Lodge and for bringing your review to our attention. It is with great concern to note that we were not able to give you a memorable stay. At Diani Sea Lodge we go above and beyond to ensure that we treat ALL our guests equally and we DO NOT support any type of discrimination. Yes, we do have a good number of foreign guests who at times will seem to be extra friendly & jolly. Just a brief insight, our hotel theme is known to be "Hakuna Matata" & "Jambo Bwana". We emphasize on these message in order to give a relaxation mentality to all our guests even when they are facing any challenges while staying with us. Just a word of assurance that all will be handled and resolved in good time. We strongly believe that in this case it was just a family of foreigners admiring and wanting to make friends with another beautiful Kenyan family. Please be rest assured that my management team and I will still look deep into this matter to ensure we filter out any signs of discrimination that might be there. We love our own Kenyan & African brothers & sisters, and we always love hosting them. On the matter of bath towels, we currently do have maroon colored bath towels. They are obviously not your regular colored type of towels you'd expect in a hotel/resort, but we keep them 120% clean, neat, and crispy. Same applies to the refillable bottled water. We keep all our water bottles clean and ensures the whole process of refilling the bottles and transporting to the rooms is 100% safe. We are proud to have managed to reduce our waste by being one of the first hotels/resorts on the coast to introduce refillable water bottles in the rooms, using paper straws, and rechargeable batteries. This has made us a proud recipients of the Travelife Gold reward. ALL our staff are dedicated to providing ALL our guests with courteous and attentive service. We will definitely share your positive experience with Edward, Rama, & Masa. As we strive to continuously achieve high-quality standards, deliver guest satisfaction and serve traveler's needs, your comments are instrumental and valued. Again, it was a pleasure to host you and I hope that we'll have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future to restore your confidence.*** Thank you!!!

I stayed at the Diani Sea Lodge with my family for 5days. Having been to a couple of beach resorts at the coast, and with Diani Sea Lodge being the most pricey but worst in service. The Management has a lot to look into but seeing as to the issues have been reviewed on this platform, it is likely it will not change. First thing is that only a handful of waiters and service people are actually friendly. Some are only friendly towards the white people and totally unfriendly towards the locals. Shout-out to Edward at reception and the two beautiful hostesses at the main restaurant, Masa the head waiter and Rama who made things so easy for us. The snacks at the snack shack are amazing but some of the wait staff so unfriendly. Please give an all inclusive drinks menu for guests to have enough options to choose from. Why do they have red musty towels in the rooms? How do you assure guests that they are being kept clean. The beddings were old and discoloured. Bottled water is cheap and sanitary but they do not provide that, they give water in water bottles in the rooms. How does one drink that not knowing how sanitary the refilling process is or who has previously used the bottles. Simply disgusting. Look into purifying your water to make it un-salty for better use by the guests. Last but not least, I don't know if the hotel management can handle this but, the white visitors who were 95% at the hotel made us uncomfortable the whole time we were there. Staring at us all through. On one night as we came back from the hotel from having dinner outside, a group sitting near the bar started pointing at us laughing, speaking in a foreign language and singing 'Jambo Bwana'. This is a terrible kind of racism and the hotel needs to give brief to their guests on conduct towards other guests. All in all, we made some great memories here.
