We were originally booked to stay elsewhere and TUI changed us last minute, we were quite worried as we had not researched this hotel. But we didn’t need to worry, the hotel was lovely! The rooms were a good size and everything was very clean. The bed was big which was lovely. Bottled water was left in our room every day which was nice. The room had a fridge which meant I could keep the water cool which was a bonus. The air-con in the room was a god send, after a day in the sun, it was nice to cool down. The Wi-Fi wasn’t the best, it dropped out lots, the staff said this was down to the monkeys knocking it out. The room had a nice balcony over looking the pool. The pool area was lovely, very big, it never felt crowded and we could always get a sun bed. The pool boys were great and helped out. The towels were located near the beach which was a bit of a walk from the sun bed, if you tip the pool staff they are very willing to get fresh towels, they kept bringing us them without us asking. The pools were really warm which was nice, about 33 to 34. The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much for them! They don’t get paid much a day so we made sure to tip, they were all very grateful. There was a large choice of food, the buffet had lots, including curries and freshly cooked pasta. The only downside was that there were no chips on the Buffett. We were all inclusive which also meant we could go to the other restaurant which were open on alternating nights. There was an Italian that served pizza and pasta which was yummy and a bbq restaurant where they bring you a plate with potatoes and veg then bring the meat to your table and carve off a skewer. Lunch was yummy, we mainly ate at the beach bar, they served pizza, chips, burgers and lots more. All very yummy. Elphus at the beach bar restaurant was lovely and always provided us with brilliant service. Despite the food being lovely, most guests I talked to had a dodge stomach so it is definitely worth taking lots of Imodium. The entertainment team were good, they ran water aerobics or a beach walk at 10am everyday and then from 9pm till 11pm they had alternating entertainment every evening which included bingo, games and a quiz where you could win a prize (wooden elephants and giraffes etc). They also had a band one night which was excellent and dancing. Definitely worth watching the entertainment. The weather was amazing! It was so hot, high 30s. However it was very windy on the beach so hard to sit on the beach. By the evening the wind died down. The wind was good for windsurfing though. The only downside of the hotel were they host conferences and weddings. They hosted a conference when I was there which meant lots of people sat on the grass outside my room drinking into the early hours of the morning. Very annoying and not what you expect!! We didn’t sit on the beach much as you tend to get hassled by locals trying to sell things. It was worth walking along the beach about 5 minutes to the left as they had some huts which offered massages. These are definitely worth it, they costed approx £10 for an hour!! A bargain and they were very relaxing. It was 1500 Kenyan shillings plus a tip. If you need anything there’s a supermarket (Carefour) a short taxi ride or Tuk tuk away, less than 5 minutes. I would recommend taking a taxi from the hotel to Bora Bora wildlife park, well worth it. The taxi costed around 5000 Kenyan shillings there and back, the person also waited for us while we were there. We were there a few hours, entry is about £20 each which was well worth it! They gave us a private guide for this who showed us round, I got to hold a baby crocodile, feed a zebra and feed giraffes. The experience was incredible. Feeding the giraffes was an amazing photo opportunity, make sure you go! If you like cycling, do the TUI cycling toor into the local village, it’s hard in the heat but well worth it! We got to meet locals, go to a school and see there mud houses, it was an amazing experience. Take sweets for the children with you or don’t worry as when they take you to a market you can buy them. When going to Kenya do NOT miss the opportunity to go on safari, we did one part way through our holiday, we got picked up from the hotel and driven a few hours to Tasso East, they stopped on the way at a shop where you can buy suviners and use a proper toilet. We saw so many animals on safari, we did a two night one and did an early morning, day and night safari. Take binoculars. I would definitely recommend this hotel! It was lovely, everything was very clean and everyone was so friendly. We will be back.…
