More stylish and security conscious than the average backpackers, Diani Backpackers has dorms and privates in a lovely house. Come to party at the 24-hour bar and pool, chill out in the lush garden, or catch up on sleep in the baobab dorm, where beds wrap around the trunk of a tree. There's a volleyball court, great daily menu and lockers. Turn right after KFI supermarket.

One of the hostels you get stuck in. Has pretty much the best vibe from all the hostels I've been to. Planned to stay a few days. Ended up staying 5 weeks which also made me learn kitesurfing as Kenya is a perfect spot for beginners. Staff is amazing and fun at the same time. Hope David is still around :P Anyways the place to be at the Kenyan coast if you're looking for a social place.

This place is so neat and so organized. The prices for the dorms are so budget friendly and worth every penny. The staff is awesome and the place is close to the beach. It’s just a walk away from the beach.

I stayed in the Jacuzzi room 4 nights (had booked 8) cause it turned to be a sauna room. At night the only way to keep a tolerable body temperature was by sweating, sweating a lot. The prices in Xmas are similar to an European hostel, the quality is anything but standard. You can get a bike for 10$ a day (around the corner for 5$), a little bunk bed for 35$ and the laundry.... well better don’t try that. Moreover, there is a camera recording 24h inside of the rooms, not sure what privacy law would apply here. I’ll try to give some advice for other solo travellers, who plan socialising in such hostels. You can also make new friends in some restaurants/bars on the beach’s first row: The Salty Squid, Badu, ........ use dating apps, do some water sports (next time I’ll try Quest) or just chat with anybody in the street!

Dear Martin, I'm sorry if it was a little hot in your room. In the Kenyan summer and with the rooms fully occupied due to high season, it can get a bit warm. All of our rooms are equipped with fans, and our en-suite private rooms have A/C. Our dorm beds were $25 in high season, which is a 80% increase from our regular rates. I just wanted to state that because your price and the claim that we doubled rates is simply not true. Despite our raised rates in high season, we are still one of the cheapest and only budget options to stay at in Diani around the Xmas & NY time, or any other time. It standard for businesses to raise rates during the peak season, and we rely on this income to keep us afloat during the 3 months of the rainy season. We have CCTV cameras in all dorms & of course not in the private rooms. They are installed for your safety and the safety of your belongings. Most people value it very much. If you need your privacy, we have a wide range of private rooms available. There are many places in Diani to socialize. We put quiet an emphasis on our social areas and you can surely meet many people also directly in our hostel. We have the lovely pool, lounges, 24 hour bar, pool table, darts, beer pong table, games, books, and the list goes on. We have won the Tripadvisor, Hostelworld, and Lonely Planet recommendations year after year as the best place to stay to meet fellow travelers. I hope you'll come back and stay outside of the (2 week) high season and I'm sure you'll love your experience (and the price). Regards, Justin

Super chilled vibes. Very sociable as everyone relaxes around the pool. Stayed here for 5nights and could easily have stayed longer (as most with more time do!) Staff are really helpful, food is good and decent value. Only possible downside is that there’s no kitchen to cook your own. The International dorm is more appealing than the Baobab dorm, as more spacious and light.

Thank you so much for your visit & for taking the time to review. We appreciate your support. We can work on the light in the Baobar dorm. You can use our kitchen in coordination with our chefs at a small service charge. On the other hand, our meal prices are quite reasonable. So why not enjoy & let us do the work for you. :) Cheers & until next time...
