We visit this lovely hotel every year with 6 friends and once again had a fantastic stay, rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean as always. Some small extra additions to make your stay even more comfortable, new mattresses for the sunbeds make a huge difference to your comfort by the pool. Food is excellent, Pool spotlessly clean and gleaming blue, Staff and owners are lovely people, they run a tight ship here, to make your stay comfortable. Thank you Sitoria,Nikos,George,Damitri,Niki and all your wonderful staff for another wonderful stay. Mythos Mick and Tracey
HOTEL- nice hotel, good pool, plenty of sunbeds, clean surroundings. ROOMS- (214) spacious, basic but clean, really small TV, only local channels, no hotel information in room, nice big terrace but only a small table and 1 chair, sunbeds would have been good. Nice large and powerful shower but no frills. Walls paper thin and can clearly hear room next door using the bathroom etc. Front door of this room about 10ft from hotel boundary with a farm / small holding next door so had the pleasure of 2 dogs barking and a Cockerell from 2.30am onwards so no sleep. FOOD / DRINK- only used for lunch once and breakfasts, mildly adequate for me but nothing to get excited about, not enough fruit selection., can't comment on hot food but the breakfast didn't look too bad. Clean and spacious but outside area is on a main road so can be noisy. Bar drinks expensive, typical hotel over charging. FACILITIES- apart from the pool there are none. STAFF- on the whole quite friendly and helpful but there was an incident with another guest sitting next to me at the pool and a maintenance man ( who had no reason to be in their room) who removed their credit card from the electric slot and proceeded to remove the card from the room and took to reception. This was theft in my opinion and totally unacceptable and very poor conduct - doesn't give much confidence in regards to trust. AREA- bars / restaurants aplenty- approx 15-20 walk. Beach is a good 25 min walk. SUMMARY- not a bad hotel, a decent management team could improve standards and communication with guests.…
Visited with my husband, another couple and a friend. Arrived early, check in was smooth, rooms not yet ready but as expected so took advantage of All inclusive lunch. Food nothing to note. Not worth going all inclusive for, plenty of good value restaurants in the town. We didn’t eat evening dinner on site so can’t comment on food. Breakfast was ok, not great but not awful not much option. The drinks are definitely watered down/cheap value if on all inclusive option. Again, all inclusive just not worth it as named spirits/beer are a good price on site with better taste. We opted for the Deluxe Balcony/Terrace but all the rooms had balcony/terrace. The deluxe was really free air-con and safe. If you go standard, it’s €6 a day for air-con and €2 for the safe. No idea why you need to pay for a safe that’s already in the room???? Room clean and functional. A fridge was also in the room, great for keeping water bottles (and tonic water/beer) cold. Ironing board present but no iron? Didnt need but suspect you need to request at reception. Hairdryer was a good wattage. Plenty of plug sockets with one each side of the beds. Soap/shower gel provided. Beautiful grounds, everything very clean. Plenty of sun beds with all day sun if needed. Sunbed towels @ €2 each. Shower/toilets/changing room by the pool if needed (not used by me as my room was ground floor terrace by the pool. (Room 223) Location: it’s approximately 20-30 mins to Tsilivi for shops/restaurants/bars. Pavement all the way. There is a local supermarket less then 5 mins up the road open until midnight. The beach is approximately 30-45 mins away. See Freddie’s Beach Bar review. Downside:Only one key card meaning you can’t charge or have the air con on when absent from room. A couple attempted to override using their credit card, but this was removed by maintenance (no idea what he was doing in the room) and taken to reception for collection and a “not permitted “ chat. Overall: it’s not a bad place to stay for value and I’d return as a B&B if nothing else available.…
Once again we had a wonderful stay at sunrise hotel, it doesn't matter how many times we stay here we always have a wonderful holiday. The room's,are spotless, "thank you Dena" the staff, and owner's have become part of our extended family and we regard them all highly. This lovely small hotel offers a quiet relaxing holiday for adults only who want to relax in its beautiful surroundings, its close enough to the main resort if you need a lively time and far enough away from it to relax completely, a free shuttle to the beach 3 time a day if you dont want the 15 min walk. Thankyou team sunrise for another wonderful time see you next year. Yiamas Mythos Mick + Tracey
Don't get me wrong there were some nice touches staying here.. 1. My husband emailed the hotel before we arrived asking them to get some flowers for the room for my birthday. They put a lovely bouquet in the room and kept the surprise from me during check in 2. Nikki in the restaurant is just lovely and so welcoming. The waffles at breakfast were cold and soggy so I asked if she could make a fresh batch. The next morning, as soon as I walked through the restaurant door, Nikki started a fresh batch of waffles for me. 3. The rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaning staff clearly work hard. The hotel is in a nice location within walking distance of the village and the beach, and a 3 mile walk from Solomos Square and Zakinthos Town. The castle is also a 3 mile walk and the views from there are fantastic. Now to the bad.. 1. I've come on holiday to get away from managers and work. To hear the owners of this hotel shouting to their staff was unprofessional and intimidating. 2. The food was not great. No choice at all and cold and we had to eat out twice. We've stayed at all inclusive hotels before, which have cost less to stay at than Sunrise, and had such a wonderful choice of food. If I ever see bolognese again it will be too soon. Such a shame as Nikki and the kitchen staff clearly work hard. I get the feeling that management want to keep their spending costs down. 3. The shower head in the bathroom isn't attached and I had to shower bent in half to be able to wash my hair. The pressure was hit and miss and the shower would often run cold or scolding hot. Not a pleasant experience. The plug in the sink stuck in so we didn't fill the sink again. 4. It's an adults only hotel but the staff quarters clearly has other rules and one night there was a child shouting until gone midnight. I went to see where the noise was coming from and the owner didn't even make eye contact! 5. I think the chap on the bar is so fed up. 12 hour days for him for the whole week we were there. There were only 18 rooms occupied maximum at any one time so I think he may have been bored. He waved as he rode past us on his way into work one day but I think he may feel undervalued at work but I could be wrong. 6. The snack bar was only open from 3pm until 5pm. There was no cider on the bar and you were restricted about what drinks you could have and at what time. 7. The air con is €6 a day which we didn't use. However the room next to us had it running through the night and the unit is on the adjoining balcony. It's so noisy. I wouldn't have slept without ear plugs. 8. There was just a feeling that complaints wouldn't be taken well so I felt it best to put up and shut up. I've seen on other reviews how complaining made the stay awkward for previous guests. 9. As the hotel wasn't full meal times were reduced to an hour each. It felt like the hotel was doing the bare minimum until it closed for the season. 10. I would have enjoyed a game of pool but the pool table had been put away. The hotel was still open so the facilities should really have been made available in my opinion. I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it to others. Other guests hired a quad bike for €120 for the week and they explored the island on that. The hotel organised a boat trip to shipwreck, Blue caves and the sulphur beach, however you can get this cheaper from the village. Zante has been hit hard by the collapse of Thomas Cook with one restaurant owner worried about the future of tourism on the island as they've lost 40% of holidaymakers. I would stay on the island again, and in Tsilivi, just not at this hotel. I'd rather pay more and go elsewhere. We could just have been unlucky with timing and maybe at the height of the season it is a lot better at the hotel. The weather was lovely, about 29 degrees in the middle of October.…
