The room was a chalet in the gardens ,near the pool. It had a double and a single bed in it with a shower/toilet room. This was cleaned and the towels replaced dailey. We went B&B but prefered to eat in the hotel bar, attached on the front, as this was a great breakfast with lots of extras at no charge (orange juice/cake etc) with 10% discount every time we ate there.
The location is on the main street with all the popular bars and resterants there.
We asked for an iron and hair dryer, when we got there. This was no bother and was fetched straight away.
We did not bother with air con or fridge as the room was always cool and there is a supermarket opposite if we needed a cool drink.
We used the room as a base and did not live in the room 24hrs a day therefor it met all that we required and paid for.
The swimming pool was a good size with plenty of loungers to go around.
In summery if you want more from a hotel then pay more.We were very happy and will be using this hotel on our next trip to Tsilivi.
The rooms were basic, with marble floors and very low beds, but as we didn't plan to spend lots of time in the room, they suited our needs. They were kept clean, and were always cool after the heat of the day. Despite being low, the beds were pretty comfortable.
The bath/shower thing would be my only complaint about the rooms. I would have preferred they just had a shower as the high sided half bath/shower combo made it tricky to get in & out of the shower. The shower curtain just stuck to you as it had nowhere else to go, it was that narrow. Still, it did the job we needed it to.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk (max) to the beach, which you can see from the front door & surrounded by all the nick-nack souvenir shops as well as several bars and restaurants
All in all, we had a fab time at this hotel and would stay again.
The bed linen is changed every couple of days. The rooms are a good size. The furniture is a bit tired and dated but OK. TV is a small portable & we could only find one channel in English which had Greek subtitles but who cares - who goes to Greece to watch TV. Air con is free which is excellent though no instructions for settings on remote. We never bothered with a fridge which is about 5 euros a day. Found as other reviewers did that its easy to get water from nearby supermarkets for 30 cents for 1.5 litre bottles whenever wanted it or a 6 pack of same for 1 euro 50. If going to beach get a frozen bottle of water as well - well worth a few extra cents.
Breakfast basic but OK. Brown & white bread, cheese slices & 'ham'/luncheon meat, sliced bread for toast (though only one toaster!), tinned sliced peaches, lovely creamy Greek yoghurt and honey, boiled eggs, fresh plums the only fresh produce. Cereals available but we didn't like the milk. Tea & coffee but the orange was squash not juice. However for 4 euros you can get a full English from pool bar if thats what you want.
The pool is deep, 1.4m approx at shallowest end. When we first arrived plenty of sunbeds but this changed as the week went on & more people reserved them then didn't appear for over 2 hours. We walked to the beach & had 2 sunbeds with umbrella for 6 euro ar Freddy's Beach Bar where toilets are clean & new. There are other similar bars nearby. The sea is shallow for a very long way out and sandy sea floor. We also liked Planos beach where there was a pool of the beach to use where 2 beds & brolly 5 euros & gave option of pool or sea. More to do at this beach for teenagers with more to see when snorkelling & pedallos to hire for 10 euro an hour. The restaurant here 'Avgoustis' was excellent with good value meals & free bread and bruschetta as starter & melon after. Some in our party ordered jacket potato & one portion was 2 potatoes! Cheese & ham toastie came with fries for 2.50 euro.
We ate out every night, mainly somewhere different each time. Dionisios Grill (just past Alamis & turn right as recommended in previous review) was excellent and good portions - try the traditional greek chicken skewers - you get 4 huge skewers which my normally ravenous 17 year old couldn't finish. Also excellent Menhirs for atmosphere & food. Athena also had excellent choice of food & great Greek dishes so something to suit everyone. Tried Dionysos (set back from main street) but I thought not as good & service slow as the place was very busy - my fish platter was missing 2 of the 5 fish dishes. If you try the italian Il Gusto I can only recommend you eat early (ie 7pm) as we went at 8.15 & service intolerably slow - we had mains only & didn't get out til after 10. However nice the food was we were too tired to be bothered when it finally arrived.
We ate at The Med (the restaurant attached to the hotel) & used the 10% discount card. again food as good & good value. Greek people very friendly - even if you don't eat at their restaurant.
Finally, we went on a boat trip with www.LevanteZante.com (we hired the boat all to ourselves as extended family of 22 there for a wedding). Capt Spiros excellent, saw turtles in the bay, went cave swimming & called at St Nicholas beach on way back.
We would go back to Tsilivi again.
