Wonderfully located with superb southerly views to Zakynthos, Garbis Villas is a select, clean, beautifully maintained selection of ground foor and first floor accomodation. Booking is easy via Angela who answered all our queries promptly and efficiently. The pool bar is not open but that probably helpd the quiet, calm atmosphere that pervades this place. Hordes of screaming kids would not be welcome here. Just one criticism - the paved parking areas should be reserved for Blue Badge holders as parking in the unsurfaced sloping car park and then traversing the very steep steps where there is no handrail is tricky for those who have mobiliy issues.
This is our 4th visit to Garbis Villas and it has never disappointed us. A great family run business where nothing is too much trouble. We made 3 bookings through COVID each time we had to cancel, but Angela didnt quibble she just moved our deposit to our next available date. You can certainly book with confidence here. Its a lovely quiet place suitable for couples or a group of friends who just want to relax and enjoy the sun. Theres no fighting for sunbeds as there are plenty and just a lovely atmosphere to soak up. There are some fantastic beaches on Kefalonia to explore and plenty of lively restaurants and bars to visit. Just book it you wont be disappointed.
Just returned from a wonderful 10 days despite the storm! Booking process via Angela all very smooth. Irene and Alexandra looked after us very well. Everything was spotless both in the apartment and communal areas. Alexandra works very hard cleaning down the sun beds and pool every morning and Irene always on hand for a friendly chat. The location overlooking the bay is stunningly beautiful. The walk down to the beach took about 25 mins and we are reasonably fit but the walk back up is quite challenging (taxi 7 euros). Definitely recommend for a quiet place to chill. We were thankful the bar area was closed and the music wasn’t coming through the speakers as this would change the feel of the place for us although others may not agree! We certainly had a fab quiet stay. Thank you.
We spent 10 nights at Garbis Villas in August in a 2 bed apartment, travelling with 2 primary school aged children. The views are incredible from the pool area and balcony - the best we've ever had in Greece. Apartment was well equipped and really spacious with separate bedrooms, lounge area, kitchen and table area, bathroom (bath with shower over) and separate toilet and sink. Large fridge and small freezer really useful to keep supplies in. Bathroom and toilet a bit shabby and not as smart as the rest of the apartment. Shower head needs replacing as a minimum. A/C and Wifi both good. Beds really comfortable. Plenty of towels including pool towels which was great. Curtains aren't blackout so we took stick up blinds to keep it dark for the kids bedroom. We hired a car for 5 days to explore and found some lovely beaches. Kaminia was our favourite - beautiful sand, shallow for miles, great for kids. There's a beach bar at kaminia for snacks and drinks. It's about 25 mins drive east along the coast. Near the Villas are plenty of restaurants up on the road, some were closed when we were there but still lots of choice. La Mer and Chefalonia were our favourites for quality greek food. We walked down and back to the beach twice up along the road then down the hill. It's around 25 mins down, 30 or so back up and very steep but we all managed it fine with a few pauses on the way up and an ice cream incentive before we set off. Lourdas beach is very pleasant, we hired a pedalo with a slide which was great fun for 15 Euros for an hour. Had an amazing, happy, relaxing holiday, I hope we can come back!…
What a beautiful location, the apartments are immaculately clean and possibly one of the comfiest beds I have slept in, my wife and 2 children loved staying here Irene is very accommodating and helpful with the local area. we did not rent a car but it is essential as the beach is at least a 20 minute walk downhill so walking back up is not for the faint hearted but a taxi from Lourdata beach to the apartments was only 10 euros. the beaches nearby are amazing but due to Covid not busy on our stay. The apartments themselves are plentiful and have everything you need to cook in or just sit and enjoy the views of Zante. the pool is one of the best i have been in the children loved it only downfall was the pool bar was closed due to Covid but that did not hamper our stay as we could easily access our room if you needed any refreshment ( a beer or 3 in the heat). we are booked to come back next year as we enjoyed it so much and look forward to exploring the island a bit more.…
Would have preferred to have had the apartment cleaned without having to ask. Management said Covid-19 regulations were cleaning of rooms was on request but this didn’t appear the case for other guests. Full ashtrays left around the pool, no directions of where to leave our rubbish. The Bar was closed due to Covid-19 but we were not told about this prior to arrival. If you didn’t have a car you would struggle to get anywhere. The one good thing was the swimming pool.
We stayed at Garbis Villas as a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 children under 12) returning for the second year in a row. The view from the villa is amazing, you can see Zante in the distance, I have never had a view as good as this anywhere. Pool is very clean and child friendly with wide steps going into the pool, some days we had the pool to ourselves as others would venture out to the numerous surrounding beaches. Apartments are cleaned regularly by lovely Alexandra, if you needed anything she was very accommodating. Angela was so helpful before we arrived giving us updates on our booking before the holiday and making us feel so welcome along with her lovely mum Irene. The bathroom is great in these apartments it has a decent sized shower cubicle as sometimes this can be rare in Greece. Lourdas beach is very near but we found a car is essential in Greece and very reasonable. You will need a car if you want to venture out to other beaches and try restaurants which there are lots of, our favourites were:- Girifi (if you want a change from Greek food this is good for pizzas), Veromente, Il Borgo, Kestro, Lorraine’s and The Olive Grove. Argostoli is amazing to watch the turtles go before 11am to get the best views, when they swim near the fishing boats.…
Spent another glorious week at Garbis Villas. Stayed in a 2 bed apartment on the first floor - family of four (2 teens). A quiet, superbly run, clean family run hotel with a handful of villas situated around a lovely pool and bar. The wonderful views of Lourdas bay and Zante are stunning and best enjoyed with a cold beer. Plenty of sunloungers, umbrellas and chairs to go round. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and a mini market also close by. Comfy beds, great air con and WiFi. Our second visit and certainly not our last. A car is needed to visit this side of the island.
My family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed in one of the larger upper floor apartments for 2 weeks. The location is within a quieter part of the island but bars / tavernas / supermarket are within easy walk. There is a steep hill that leads to the apartments so not great for the very young or less mobile however. The apartment itself is clean and ideal for a family of 4. Beds were very comfy, air con great and 2 toilets. If I was ultra critical a toaster and microwave would have been a welcome addition to the kitchen. Free wi-fi throughout. Not the fastest but more than sufficient for 2 teenagers with phones / tablets. The pool area was outstanding. Plenty of beds and chairs and the pool was spotlessly clean and a good size. Unfortunately the snack bar was closed due to COVID. The views from both the balcony and pool were out of this world with the coastline of Lourdas seen in panorama. We were left alone during our stay with just the cleaner really making an appearance and it felt hugely relaxed. Angela was available if needed however as she lives in one of the apartments. A rental car is essential to see the island. Short walks are fine but the island is very hilly with steep inclines that are very tiring, especially in the heat. We visited Argostoli as well as a number of beaches. Driving on the island is a bit of an adventure but you get used to it after a couple of days. If you are looking for a quiet family holiday or going as a couple then I highly recommend.…
We visited for 6 days towards the end of October 2019. The villas are located quite high up the hillside overlooking Lourdata beach, with private parking for several cars. We had a one room apartment which had a hob, kettle and sandwich toaster, which is handy if you want to be self-sufficient, as well as a sitting area, tv in the bedroom and a safe. Peter runs the poolside cafe and did a great job of making us welcome during our stay, and he provides drinks and food throughout the day. The pool is unheated but that was fine in October as it wasn't too cold for a swim. Nearest amenities include several restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk, although this walk is up a steep hill from the villa to the main road. The walk down to Lourdas beach is about 1 mile, and is steep downhill, and there are more bars and restaurants there, but coming back up is a bit of an effort. There is a bus but it doesn't run very often. I would definitely come back, especially in low season as it is very relaxing and peaceful at this location.…
