What a wonderful experience our family shared last week!
We were welcomed to the charming family hotel Philoxenia for a week of great service. We had the highest quality room accommodation with full individual remote-controlled AC including better WiFi than at home (so my children reliably inform me!) together with the most comfortable bed mattress I have ever slept in! (So much so we tried to find the make of it online upon our return to purchase one!)
Takis and Maria and their family couldn't have been more accommodating, from ensuring our safety during the tough time of the COVID19 pandemic with excellent safety procedures and scrupulous cleanliness, to ensuring we had a delicious baguette lunch pack-up for a boat trip during our stay.
Daily breakfast was superb and efficiently served, with freshly brewed coffee and orange juice, yummy Greek feta and spinach pastries, croissant and tasty omelettes too! The food at Maria's Taverna on the beach side in the evening was 'par excellence' with service to match provided by Alessandro (also Takis' brother).
We all loved the family atmosphere and the warmest welcome of any hotel we have visited ... ever.
A fantastic experience we hope to be repeating soon.

We had a great time at Philoxenia hotel, where my boyfriend and I stayed for two weeks. The service of the staff was very welcoming. They really went the extra mile to make us happy and to make a personal connection with us. We also loved the pool and liked the location, although it is a bit remote so you should rent a car if you want to explore the island. Once you get a car, the location is perfect because it is somewhere in the middle of the island, making it easy to explore different parts (e.g. Paleokatritsa is only 20 minutes away). The pool was usually quiet and we enjoyed the famous mojitos in the pool bar (can recommend!).
The food is also good at the hotel (great Gyros), and they regularly organise evenings with live music/greek dancing, which we found enjoyable. There was a very cute cat at the restaurant who wanted to be fed and petted, but sat very quietly and politely, not pushy at all (in case you don't like cats).
We stayed in a budget garden room, and the first night we found that our airconditioning was not working well. The staff was very helpful and friendly about this, and they quickly arranged another budget room for us where the airco was a bit stronger. Since it gets quite hot during the summer season, I would recommend to book a sea view room if you have the budget for it (assuming the airco's are stronger in more luxurious rooms). Other than that, the room was good, a bit outdated but very clean, strong shower, mini-fridge, plenty of storage space. It also had a nice balcony which we enjoyed during the evenings.
Overall, it was a very relaxing holiday! Thank you so much for the great service and relaxing atmosphere :)

We had a wonderful experience with my friends at philoxenia. The service was very helpful and polite, our rooms were shiny and clean which was quite reassuring for this stressful period of coronavirus pandemic. Great value for money hotel we will definitely visit again when we come back to Corfu.

This 50 room Hotel, is 20 minutes drive from the airport. There is little by way of facilities here - two tavernas overlooking the beach, a small shop and a bar, two car hire offices and a golf course. The beach is shingly, not particularly attractive/provided with good facilities. The tavernas are really nice, however.
The hotel boasts a lovely pool, quite large, proportionately, to the size of the hotel. Excellent lunches under the shade of an ancient oak on the pool terrace. Prices at the bar are good value, and the service and attention of the staff are outstanding.
Check in was efficient.
The rooms are clean, albeit basic, but it's effectively a budget hotel, so there it is.
It's difficult to rate the hotel in a state of normality, as it is currently operating under COVID-secure rules, well thought out and applied. What it would be like in normal times? Not easy to guess. Quite properly, linen is changed weekly, room serviced and fresh towels supplied twice in a week. I suspect the breakfast (served to you from a buffet layout) would have been more varied, the bain marie might have contained hot (or even warm) offerings.
I would not recommend booking the excursion to Paxos etc, through the hotel. Large boat, not enough deck space (social distancing) and a long day - up to 11 hours. The "sights" are not so exciting as to warrant the effort. I advise shopping around online for trips in smaller vessels just around Corfu itself. Everything seems to depart from Corfu.

Dear client Thank you for taking the time to write your impression about your stay in our hotel on TripAdvisor. I read about your excellent impression for our hotel like the exceptional quality of the food in our pool restaurant, the perfect service of our staff, the very good prices, the cleanliness of the rooms and the excellent safety measures for Covid-19 that are very well studied and applied everywhere! You’re wondering how we would operate in a normal period. Definitely much better, like every year, with extra services, music nights by the pool, with the internal restaurant - which was closed this year for your own safety - operating normally and much more. For those reasons we have so many excellent reviews all those years. I wrote all these because the readers will wonder about the low score you ranked us with. Like you told me during your stay and wrote in the review, you were bothered by the bad - in your opinion - experience of your daily cruise to Paxos-Antipaxos-Blue Caves. If you didn’t like it and the trip was tiring, it was your choice. Most people like it and write excellent comments, because with a small amount of money (less than if you had booked it with a tourist agency) you were able to see two islands and the blue caves in one day. I want to inform the readers that the cruise is not 11 hours like you wrote, but 3.5 hours to get there with a 45’ stay at Antipaxos to swim, 2.5 hours to do whatever you want in Paxos and 3 hours to get back to Corfu. You are also adding 1 hour for your transfer to the port and back. Besides the trip is not organized by our hotel, but a tourist agency and we only mediate for you to get your seats booked in more economical prices without having any gain from it! You by yourself came to ask me for a reservation. For this service that I provide to the customers and for many more, you punish us? We hope to have you here again in the after Covid-19 era so you can enjoy the services we provide. Best regards Takis

Chose this hotel after reading all the great reviews and can definitely see why people love the place.
The family and staff who run the hotel are exceptional. So warm and friendly and are always ready to help in any way they can. They are a credit to the business and you couldn't really ask for a better service.
We had booked sea view room and although we did receive this, it wasn't the best view of the sunset as the building opposite took it away. Still, waking up to see the sea every morning was beautiful.
The room itself is basic but clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a rain shower which was nice. The bathrooms have been upgraded but the rooms themselves not so much. New light fittings and some better furniture would make a huge difference.
Breakfast was very simple. Perhaps less choice due to covid but it was adequate. Bread, preserves, cheese, tomatoes, pastries and a couple of hot options. The greek yogurt was just the best with honey. The iced coffee was also good.
The pool area is great. Nice, clean pool with plenty of beds and shade. The famous mojitos are definitely worth having! The food here is also really good, fresh and tasty and great value. The souvlaki was delicious. The service here again is spot on. It's a shame that when we visited evening meals weren't available as I'm sure these would have been much better than the 2 restaurants in the village.
The only issue we found which is not the fault of the hotel are the mosquitoes and wasps. Bring the highest strength bug spray as anything less is useless. The wasps don't attack but can hassle you when eating.
We would definitely recommend this little hotel for the service and cleanliness but it is in a very quiet area which may not suit everyone.

We had a wonderful stay here. Beautiful pool setting, really friendly family running it who were always happy to help, the BEST mojitos ever at the pool bar, and a lovely quiet location near the sea. I would recommend taking a car or motorbike to this hotel, and if you've got one this location is perfect as it's on the coast but central on the island. Great measures in place for COVID, much better than what you will see in the UK! We had a beautiful ocean view room which we absolutely loved. Would recommend unplugging the fridge at night if you're a light sleeper like me, but other than that everything was amazing. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay :)

Philoxenia Hotel is a beautiful and highly recommended place to stay in Corfu. Set in an idyllic scene, overlooked by mountains with a dreamy view of the sea.
The location is ideal - a five minute walk from the beach and a five minute walk from the nearest bus stop if you wish to explore the rest of the island.
The hotel itself is very clean, the breakfast is excellent and almost every room has a sea view.
This is all great, but what made the holiday such a pleasant experience was the service and the generosity we were shown by Takis and his family. The Philoxenia family is one that I will never forget. They are incredibly friendly and always willing to help. We could not have wished for better service.

We stayed for four nights and had a sea view room with a balcony in the main part of the building. The hotel is run by a very hard working family and is very well maintained. It has two swimming pools, a breakfast room and outdoor seating areas. The views are simply stunning! We loved relaxing by the pool sipping cocktails and looking at the ocean. We also sampled the food for lunch which was lovely, I would recommend the gyros!
Our room was fairly basic but clean and of adequate size with a comfy bed. The toiletries were very basic. Unfortunately there were no tea/coffee making facilities, complimentary water or iron/ironing board.
Like the other reviews say, Takis is truly lovely and offers the best customer service! He always has a smile on his face and works tirelessly to ensure his guests have the best time. I have to be honest and say that some other members of staff were not as friendly and polite as he is.
The area is quiet, and on a steep hill so bare that in mind if you struggle to walk. There were only two restaurants open nearby so there is limited choice for eating out but both tavernas are gorgeous! I would also advise bringing some cash with you as sometimes the WiFi doesn’t work in the hotel/restaurants and there is only one ATM a ten minute walk away that charges you for using it.
Overall we loved our stay, it was worth it for the views alone! Good value for money and excellent service from Takis.

This is our second visit to Philoxenia Hotel and after our first visit we fell in love with the beautiful and idyllic secluded cove. We have absolutely fallen in love with the hotel, the absolutely wonderful family that run it, so kind, so caring and nothing is too much for them and in only the second visit we already consider Takis, Maria and Spiros and staff as our dear friends. From the start of the holiday with the airport transfer which is just 20 minutes away to the beautifully appointed, clean rooms and comfortable beds to the sumptuous breakfast which has something for everyone, to the pool side with the famous and renowned 'Takis mojitos' which we have to say are the best we have tasted and finally, the Taverna Maria at the bottom of the hill which has the most delicious locally sourced food for all tastes, we recommend the Greek salad and moussaka and the chicken souvlaki washed down with their local Corfu draught beer. There is a rent a car office just 5 mins walk away and we explored the surrounding areas, Pelekas is so nice with lots of busy streets and you should if you have time eat at Alexandros restaurant and try the Pizza's. All in all, we love the Hotel Philoxenia and we are back there in September for a week and we cannot wait. You will fall in love with this hotel and the family that run it, it is so very, very special. See you soon Filakia.

Had booked this hotel for three nights at the start of a fortnight in Corfu. We arrived about 6.30 and despite booking the best room available we were shown a basic ground floor, tired room. The shutters wouldn’t open so it was like being in a basement. The famous hospitality seemed to be missing that day. Made worse by when we went to eat at the only taverna in the village we got royally ripped off After a sleepless night we went down to breakfast only to find a scene that would embarrass a motorway services. Collecting your food on plastic trays. All the food bring dive bombed by wasps. Disgusting Luke warm coffee .
The only saving grace was that they didn’t hold us to the next two nights. Appeared disinterested , happy to take our cash and let us leave.
Don’t bother loads of much better places to stay in Corfu.

Dear Friend You are right regarding the reservation of the room you had made (sea view) through the booking.com the room we gave you was with a partial sea view on the ground floor with a very good bathroom but also the shutters in excellent condition! the receptionist explained that you will stay in another room for one night and in the morning you will be transferred to the room you did reservation! of course for this reason we reduced the price of the room you stayed for one night! The reason for this problem was that there was a serious accident! I (Takis), the owner of the hotel, was absent all morning and I was at the Corfu hospital to offer my help to an English couple from Manchester who had an accident with their motorbike, and therefore we were looking for a way to be able to be transported to England with direct and preferably safe way, I think it is easy to understand that we could not throw their things out of the room to stay you, you see the emotion and the need to support our fellow man goes beyond our professionalism and business identity in some cases .. .... we apologize for this but at the same time we feel proud to belong to the Philoxenia family that 2,500 reviews on booking.com and tripadvisor praise us for all our wonderful services and our unique hospitality! to remember a Greek proverb "do not judge harshly in order not to be judged" best regards Takis

Hi traveller,
We were able to pay by vis or mastercard no problem at the
Tavernas, beach boat hire and the Hotel Philoxenia.
Didn't searchfor a csh machine as we took a stock of Euros with us.
Regards
Yes. We are pescatarian but most of the time just ate vegetarian food (but including feta cheese - so not purist). Lots of local fruit and vegetables.
Ermones is quite a quiet resort but if your teenagers want discos they will have to go a bit further a field. LocalTaverna Nausicaa does themed evenings of local music and dancing.
Hope you find this helpful.
Dear Mrs Sassy,
Hallo from corfu island!
I hope you are fine!
There are buses from our place to corfu town and
to glyfada(major beach of corfu) and palaiokastitsa(a gorgeous place with many beaches). The water park is only 6 km far from our hotel(you can go there by bus or car, motorbike). With car or motorbike you can go easily around the island because our hotel is located in the middle of the island(an ideal location to go either north or south).I would not recommend quad because in my opinion
it is dangerous(roads are not in very good condition)
I hope you have a great evening!
WIth best regards
Spiridon Telonis
