Travelers' Choice
Hotel Philoxenia is a family friendly property; built 22 years ago, but always renovated! It is open from the end of April till middle of October. Our privilege is that we take care of our guests and we can guarantee you will have relaxing and luxurious holidays in Corfu. Except from the convenient location of our hotel, it provides a lot of daily services and meaningful amenities, such as swimming pool, pool bar and kindergarten. We are famous for our tasty dishes served either in the buffet and in the breakfast every morning, or for our wonderful drinks in the pool bar. Our dishes are from our agricultural production, such as salads and dairy products. So, don’t miss real traditional and healthy food at our hotel! Both the owner of the hotel in Corfu, as well as the staff of the hotel, are here to welcome you and are always willing to help you!

I have just come back from a fantastic week and a half at Hotel Philoxenia. Starting with the exterior of the hotel, it is set on a hill in the most beautiful part of Corfu (Ermones) where you can see the sunset either from your balcony or if you walk down to the two tavernas on the beach, you can also see the sunset. My room was a double room with sea view- it was spacious enough, with plenty of wardrobe space to hang my clothing and a few shelves for folded clothes. The mini refrigerator was better than others I've had in other hotels-it was very cold and allowed me to keep soya milk and cheese in the fridge. The bathroom was bright, and modern, with a walk-in shower. The plasma TV screen was sufficiently large with lots of TV channels. The room had everything I needed except a kettle:) so I went out and bought one so that I could make my own coffee (I drink a lot of coffee). The swimming pool was large and it was never too crowded so if you wanted to swim you could swim. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool and the lunch menu was plentiful. The family who own and run this hotel could not have been any more accommodating; they were very concerned about their guests' happiness, and I was asked on a number of occasions by Takis if everything was good. When I booked my room I had made a special request for some soya milk, and Spiridon was more than happy to get some soya milk in for me. My only recommendation to the hotel would be regarding the selection at breakfast for vegans; for someone who doesn’t eat dairy or meat there was very little protein for me to have, however I did find a supermarket in Corfu town who sold vegan cheese, so I bought a large quantity of vegan cheese, kept it in my fridge, and would make my own sandwiches for breakfast. As a vegan I would have loved to have seen a vegan sausage and some vegan cheese:) but other than that, I can't complain. For those who eat everything, there was a good selection of pastries, cereals, cheese and fruit. There are a number of staff members who I would like mention; Sophia, who served the buffet breakfast, and Natasha who was behind the coffee/drinks bar in the mornings. They were both so lovely and I enjoyed practising my (very bad) Greek with them:). I would highly recommend renting a car to explore the island because the taxis are expensive going into Corfu town-apparently because the taxis are coming from Corfu to pick us up at the hotel they have to charge it tends to be €30 each way whereas I was able to rent a car for €30 a day it made much more economical sense. I also got to see so much more of the island. I highly recommend visiting Glyfada beach and Pelekas beach. The hotel offer free parking which is an amazing perk, and Takis was on hand if I ever struggled to find a space. What else can I say? Provided everything is fine next year re-COVID, I would love to return for another visit to the hotel. I was made to feel very welcome by Takis, Maria, Spiridon, and the entire staff. This is a very difficult and uncertain time for hotel owners and I would like to strongly encourage you to support this lovely family and book your holiday here!

A WONDERFUL hotel! So friendly, it feels like your own home. Breakfast is plentiful, service exceptional and they pick you up and take you to the airport free of charge! No hidden extras, really good value drinks and food at the hotel and they were delicious. There is a lovely beach a few metres away, some lovely tavernas and a choice of two, well-stocked mini-markets. It has an upmarket feel. I looked around the neighbouring hotel (£600/night) and thought how disappointed I’d be there compared to here. I enjoyed running and hiking in the area too, a particularly lovely track goes through the golf course ~400m from the hotel. In October 2019 we had lovely weather (28 degrees.) Corfu town was an easy, convenient bus journey away. The family could not be more helpful in making sure you have the happiest, most relaxed time and do everything to make the holiday easy. The rooms are clean and comfortable with very high-end, modern bathrooms and great air conditioning. 10/10.

Booked last minute holiday to Philoxenia hotel based on excellent online reviews. It was even better in the flesh . Takis and his family are friendly, attentive and always Covid secure. For a 3 star hotel the room was better than I expected. Large, sea view balcony, clean with new bathrooms and everything I wanted and needed in room. Pool area is large for a small hotel with plenty sunbeds and shade if needed. Swim up bar with great drinks service and choice. Had lunch everyday by pool (shade of fabulous tree if needed) Typical Greek menu and special every day-all delicious and amazing value. Breakfast was limited buffet due to Covid, but tasty and plenty choice for me. I expect it is greater choice when normal serve yourself buffet. No evening meals currently in hotel but two great tavernas down hill right oj beach. Taverna Maria my personal choice. The family cannot do enough to help you and make your stay memorable. Thank you to Takis and family. Loved it.

This 50 room Hotel, is 20 minutes drive from the airport. There is little by way of facilities here - two tavernas overlooking the beach, a small shop and a bar, two car hire offices and a golf course. The beach is shingly, not particularly attractive/provided with good facilities. The tavernas are really nice, however. The hotel boasts a lovely pool, quite large, proportionately, to the size of the hotel. Excellent lunches under the shade of an ancient oak on the pool terrace. Prices at the bar are good value, and the service and attention of the staff are outstanding. Check in was efficient. The rooms are clean, albeit basic, but it's effectively a budget hotel, so there it is. It's difficult to rate the hotel in a state of normality, as it is currently operating under COVID-secure rules, well thought out and applied. What it would be like in normal times? Not easy to guess. Quite properly, linen is changed weekly, room serviced and fresh towels supplied twice in a week. I suspect the breakfast (served to you from a buffet layout) would have been more varied, the bain marie might have contained hot (or even warm) offerings. I would not recommend booking the excursion to Paxos etc, through the hotel. Large boat, not enough deck space (social distancing) and a long day - up to 11 hours. The "sights" are not so exciting as to warrant the effort. I advise shopping around online for trips in smaller vessels just around Corfu itself. Everything seems to depart from Corfu.
