We booked this on our recent northern Finland and Norway trip. Everything went very well, and our late check in was accomodated. We were even upgraded to a larger room with a sauna. The apartments were very clean and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately we don’t have experience of the breakfast. However, the kitchen in the apartment had everything we needed (minus a dishwasher).

Nuorgam Holiday Village (also known as Nuorgamin Lomakeskus) has a very beautiful riverside location. They have many accommodation types: apartments, summer cottages, superior cabins and a remote wilderness cabin. We had a superior cabin (also known as rantamökki) but I would call it a semi-detached riverside villa. This review is based on it. So we had a superior cabin with river view. It was excellent but cheaper than a hotel room in a normal hotel. I really recommend it. It is much better than other cabin or cottage types. Superior cabins are very new. They were completed in December 2019. Actually they are semi-detached villas (40 square meters each). We had a living room with a sofa bed, a bedroom with very high beds, a kitchenette, a bathroom, an own electric sauna and a furnished terrace (or a balcony) with river view. We also had plenty of storage place, a fireplace and an electric shoe dryer. The decor of the villa was modern style from Lapland. We had large windows facing the river. The scenery was beautiful. It was possible to see the midnight sun directly from our villa! The restaurant of Nuorgam Holiday Village is situated only 100 meters from the villa. The restaurant is the most northern cafeteria-restaurant in the European Union! There is also a nice playground between the villa and the restaurant. Besides, they have a Lapp hut for a campfire almost next to the villa. There is a bus stop in front of the holiday village. We took a bus from Rovaniemi to this holiday village. A quite big grocery store named K-market Rajamarket is situated less than one kilometre from the holiday village. There are good opportunities for fishing, (mountain) biking, hiking and trekking near the holiday village. We walked towards Fell Baikabollochokka. The path starts right across the street next to the traffic sign of the holiday village. Views were amazing. There are also longer hiking trails very near. Nuorgamin Postipolku Trail starts 300 meters from the holiday village and the very beautiful Skaidijärvi Trail 1.5 kilometres from the holiday village. After the check-out we booked a transfer from the holiday village to the southern point of Lake Pulmankijärvi. From there we started our four-day hike across Kaldoaivi Wilderness Area (read separate TripAdvisor reviews) to the village of Sevettijärvi.

Room Tip: Superior Cabin with river view is the must! This new semi-detached villa is worth of every Euro.

We stayed from 25 januari ‘till 1 februari and this was really one of my best vacation. It’s really magical, quiet and just a winterwonderland. The accommodation is great and really loving people, which made our stay extra good. Also, food is great. They really deserve all credits. Thank you for this great experience and lovely memories.

Absolutely amazing service, food accommodation. The family who own this place are wonderful people. The attention to detail in their approach to holidays is second to none. The food was freshly homemade every day, and there was plenty of it! The activities (we did snowmobiles, reindeer herder visit, ice fishing, and husky sledding) were well organised, exciting and interesting. The equipment we used was available 24/7, it was clean I excellent condition we used: kick sled, snow shoes and poles, snowsuits, helmets, head torches. We didn't have time to use the skin's but they were all available throughout our stay. The accommodation was clean, well presented, comfortable and warm, we used the sauna and the wood burning stove every day. This is a place in the most beautiful part of the world, and Nuorgam Holiday Village and the family who own/run it make the experience perfect.

the small restaurant offers a wide variety of foods. Local Sami specialities and seasonal options were our favourite. The cosy atmosphere adds to an unique feeling. You will definitely feel welcome and your hosts have many ideas how to enjoy the area.
