This year we decided to try a big hotel chain because of the Covid situation and choosed the Grecotel in Peloponnese "La Riviera". It is not our first visit to Greece we've been to lots of small Greek islands but this year mostly for safety reasons we selected this hotel for organised vacation.
There was not much time for thoughts so we glanced over the website and proceeded with the booking. To be honest, the first impression when we arrived was not the best one. We were guided to our room by a nice girl on our way she informed us about what the hotel can offer and the facilities. All the safety measures were taken and we liked it because it was the main reason why we choosed this Grecotel.
The room was not the one we expected, the photos are better. Not very clean and some of the amenities were missing ( they explained that this was due to virus ). My wife is crazy about the cleanliness and the room was not approved so I had to contact the reception and ask for a housekeeping service. We were waiting for about 1 hour for a cleaning lady to come and of course not so happy about that. After the dinner (which we had to book every time beacuse otherwise we would not be aloud to enter the dining area) we passed by the reception and asked for the supervisor to talk. We talked for a few minutes and he assured us that he will be here for us if we needed anything during our stay and that we should feel free to contact him.
When we returned the room was in better condition. The next days were ok. The sea is amazing and views from the veranda are breathtaking with all those colors. The food was alright, nothing extraordinary, except to the Cap Voyage resto which was an amazing one with fine gastronomie.
Our children enjoyed the Aqua Park (which we also had to pre book) and the beach with beautiful sand.
Overall we had a good impression and relaxed vacation. Although we had to contact Antonis few more times mostly regarding the housekeeping services and few questions about the area and some troubles that we had with the guest portal the booking engine for dining and other facilities (maybe that was because of a poor WiFi). The service at the rstaurants and mostly at the reception was very attentive so it helped us to enjoy our stay.
It is still not decided if there will be a second visit to this hotel as we understand that under the "normal" circumstances the service will be much better and more facilities to enjoy... Maybe we will wait untill the children will go to college so we will give a second try only the two of us. Our best wishes to all team! Take care!

We stayed at the hotel for 11 nights and it was just perfect. Even though the current circumstances are unusual to say the least as we are in the middle of a pandemic the hotel ensured that this did not affect the quality of the service and the food. Whilst there were certain limitations such as buffet restaurants as opposed to more a la carte restaurants and the closure of the spa it did not affect the overall experience. The hotel ensured that there were sufficient activities available most of which were complimentary. We were astounded by the measures in place to ensure that the hotel’s cleanliness remained at an optimal level so that we felt safe and comfortable. The main restaurant offered a buffet service for breakfast, lunch and dinner but the variety and quality was really quite outstanding. I must say that ordinarily I am not a fan of buffet food as it tends to be below par and so was impressed by the hotels ability to cater for all tastes. The staff were friendly and efficient ensuring quick service and the ability to sanitise the dining area and all communal areas whilst wearing gloves and masks in the middle of summer without complaint and without delay. We also dined at Cap Voyage and Sea Dunes restaurants which are a la carte and a must as the food was excellent. The hotel operates staggered times for the buffet restaurant and the aqua park and did so to optimal effect. We were able to enjoy our holiday without stress or concern about the fact that we are living in unusual times and so could just relax. A big thank you to all the staff, particularly the head chef at la riviera- sunset and the food and beverage manager who was constantly present to ensure the smooth running of the restaurants. In addition the sea, beach, sweeping views of the Ionian and the sunsets really made this a holiday to remember.

This hotel is exceeding all expectations. We were the first to nervously fly to Kalamata from UK on the 25th of July 2020 amid COVID restrictions. I have to say that from the moment we stepped out of the plane we felt safe and quite emotional to see the length that this team of devoted staff was prepared to go to give us an amazing holiday. The location is beautiful, the beach clean and not crowded, the pools calm and pristine. I can go on for long as I am so shocked by bad reviews here and wanted to write something that people can believe when making that decision to travel especially at this particular moment in time when one needs reassurance. Everything is regularly checked, désinfected regularly , socially distanced etc, the rooms changed and clean all done with attention to details and a smile on everyone’s face! Behind masks and impeccable manners everyone we have met is willing to please, particularly at meals time. The food is simply delicious, huge selection of well thought menus, well organised and safe service. Endless hours of fun in the aqua park for the kids, extra activities choices, I need to stop now as this is long but so much to say! We will definitely come here again, huge cheers to Nicos at reception, Taki, both Andrianna in restaurant and Maria who will leg the 2 km beach every day to offer you complimentary drinks and fruits by the sea. We are visiting this resort the last 4 years , this year it was a big disappointment for us.
We chose to stay 18 days to this hotel , because we didn’t want to change places for our summer holidays in the middle of this pandemic.
Unfortunately the first week of our holidays was very stressful, because nothing from the things that we had agreed prior of our arrival, were existing.
1. Our room was dirty and although we had arranged someone to clean it every day , it wasn’t still in a proper condition and we had to call every day to the reception to do sth about it.
2. The food compared to other years it was less and with no quality , no taste, really not nice presented . Of course the stuff tried to helps us with this situation by giving us the advantage to preorder food for our kids which was more healthy but this thing has never happened the previous years.
3. The swimming pools were very dirty and very crowded.
4. For the old and original clients of this resort there was a downgrade in all the aspects of the services and for the clients coming from the oasis hotel (4 star ) there was an upgrade. They were paying less having an upgrade level of services and location.
5. For sure the resort this year wasn’t a five star hotel.
Apart from all these we all enjoyed the beautiful beach and the aqua park and of course the amazing restaurant in Mandola Rosa.
The stuff of the hotel were in general well mannered and some of them were really well trained and always with a smile ready to hear us and understand us.
We will visit this resort only if we are 100% sure that we will enjoy the services of the previous years.

We spend 6 days in August in this wonderful resort, during the COVID era. We were stunned by the organization and how well the staff was prepared with all necessary sanitary measures been taken. The location is great , a 4 kilometer beach for hotel residents and the fantastic Aqua Park a place where children and adults become equally excited. We will likely be back next year hopefully with less worries for the COVID! All staff members were very enthusiastic and helpful, great concierge and friendly atmosphere!

Our stay was good but not as good to be eager to return.
Firtly we had to change the room becuase the first one was having some issues ith toilet flush - see attached video. It went smoothly and without any issues from the hotel staff.
Nevertheless new room wasnt any better from the first one. The main issue we had was the room standard and services within the room. Room was poor especially the bethroom. There was no iron in the room, for entire stay we've received only one (1) bottle of water, the was no electricity socket to boil the water. we had to used the kettle on the floor under the TV. The vault in the room ... well a locker I would say, was not mounted to the wall and it was so lightweight that my 6 years old son was able to play with it.
Additionally we had unpleasent situation on the beach. One day we decided to use sunbeds betwen Riviera and Olimpia - the standard sunbeds not the one with canopy. Unfortunatelly it turns out that this part of the beach is PRIVATE and dedicated only for Mandola. We were forced (by F&B Manager) to take our stuff and move to sunbeds closer to Riviera although ALL other "Mandola" sunbeds were empty. We felt terrible especially because there was no sign that we are on private part of the beach and because we were informed we can use all facilities in the resort.

The hotel is quite large and you generally have enough space around you and on the beach. The buffet is large and of acceptable choice (prepare for queues). The unbelievable is that despite the much higher than average prices, they charge the morning coffee, a replacement toothbrush and even the water!!! They actually pretty much charge for anything and everything without the facilities to much the prices. Limited pool choice, half the beach sunbeds are on a muddy surface from water coming underneath, very low quality entertainment. It was a disappointment

First of all, regarding the issue of prices, we would like to inform you that our hotel Grecotel La Riviera follows the same pricing policy as hotels of the same category. At the buffet, the morning coffee is not charged, as it is included in the morning meal which is free of charge for our guests. However, if any guest want to visit the lobby bar or the beach bar, the consumption is not free. Furthermore, regarding the issue of limited pools number, we would like to inform you that the Riviera Olympia & Aqua Park Resort has 11 pools, 5 of which are located at Grecotel La Riviera. It also has the Olympia Aqua Park, a mega-waterpark, the largest in a Greek resort for youngers and olders ones. Once again we would like to thank you and we will be very happy to welcome you again in the future at Grecotel La Riviera & Aqua Park. Until then we wish you health! We had a great time in this beautiful place.
The beach is one of the best in Greece, the food is excellent, the pools are great, the Aqua Park is top and the staff very professional.
Chef treated our issue with celiac disease in an extremely caring way, which made the difference to our stay.
COVID-19 measures were very well planned.
Certainly the hotel needs some renovation initiatives, especially in the rooms, adding more value in the whole experience.
The beach is one of the best in Greece, the food is excellent, the pools are great, the Aqua Park is top and the staff very professional.

We have been visiting grecotel olympia riviera resort for the past 3 years. This year with Covid we weren't 100% sure. However we were assured everything would be just as good. So we decided to come again. The disappointment is huge. The buffets are so sad you feel bad for them. 5 dishes, definitely not child friendly with a huge line. No real salads or side dishes and you need to hunt the waiters down for anything else. No evening activities, no sports, you need to keep booking slots for everything and last but not least the pools are dirty. The kiddie pool was filthy and the other one were no better. Of course no snack corner either. Definitely not worth its money.. not even half of it. We wont be coming again

We would like to inform you that this year due to the pandemic of the coronavirus, we had to adapt to the new data, setting as first goal your safety. That is why we have limited the activities in which direct contact prevails. However, activities such as archery, fitness programs such as Yoga, Pilates, Abs & Hips and the Olympia Aqua Park are available at our hotel for all guests for free. Our hotel is certified with the "Health First" mark of the Ministry of Tourism and has additional certification from the state for the operation of the hotel regarding coronavirus. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has affected the tourism industry resulting in changes in some of our hotel operations. We fully understand your dissatisfaction with these malfunctions, but we are obliged to follow specific instructions for your safety. As we focus on every of our guest's perfect Grecotel experience, we would like to assure you that we will keep working hard to develop and improve our services, taking into account any reviews-feedback from our guests. A very nice place for family vacations. The room (superior family room with sea view ) could be renovated but still it is very nice and large room with comfy beds, extremely clean with everything you need and the view is fantastic. They clean every day and they are doing very good job. The swimming pools... there is something for everyone, for the kids and for the adults. The beach... swallow waters for the kids to play, but you have to stay for the sunset! The food (dinner and breakfast) were of very good quality and there were a lot of options. We tried also the Cap Voyage restaurant. Very good. Although it is expensive, the main courses are value for money for such a restaurant. L' Orient restaurant was good, the food was nice but when we visited we thought we will eat chinnese food but actually the specialize in far east cuisine. The water slides (the aqua park) was really fun for kids and adults. But the the competitive advantage of this hotel was not the 5 star faciites and services but the personnel. Very polite people, always trying to help and they were really flexible! Really happy about our vacation.

This summer the water park was still under construction ( but open ) it was free for the guests of the hotels only the guest could access it . For this summer I don’t know what will be the grecotel policy . But I think that it’s not a huge park and there are four hotels so I think it would be open only for hotel guests .
