Lovely renovated colonial building hotel located in the very centre of Thakhek and a 1 minute walk to the Mekong river. This confortable hotel designed with a contemporary feel, houses a fantastic open area kitchen that is very popular with the locals and tourists alike.

Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Inthira Thakek offers a budget-friendly stay with decent-sized rooms that are well-maintained and clean. The staff experience was satisfactory, with helpful and courteous service throughout my stay. A unique policy requires guests in the 2nd and 3rd-floor rooms to leave their shoes on the ground floor, though it’s unclear what purpose this serves.
A couple of things to note: there’s no hot water in the rooms, which may be inconvenient for some guests, and while breakfast is included, it’s very simple with no option for second servings. The lobby restaurant provides decent food, adding convenience to the stay.
The hotel’s location is fantastic, with everything within close reach, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. Overall, a practical choice for budget travelers looking for a clean and convenient spot in Thakek, though it’s best suited for those with moderate expectations on amenities.

The Inthira at Thakek is a wonderful hotel that offers clean, comfortable rooms. We were planning on staying one night but ended up sleeping here for 3 nights on our trip to Thakek.
The hotel has a fantastic location, a minute's walk away from the river front where you can watch the sunset over Thailand.
Each room has a comfortable bed with clean, soft bedding. Each room has toiletries provided, as well as a mini-fridge, a hairdryer and towels.
I would highly recommend this as a place to stay in the town.
However, the restaurant did run out of food very quickly, so this limited our options of what we could eat, which was a shame. However, the food we did have was delicious. The breakfast was filling and you could order extra if you wished.

An old refurbished building with all its old charm. Some floors are creaky, and the WiFi in my room was spotty, but the room was clean and well kept. Soap in bathroom was natural handmde and nicely scented gel in shower. Breakfast was nothing special, but adequate (not the usual buffet set-up with many choices, but you can order (in my case) eggs as you want. Overall happy with stay and will come again.

Access to the rooms is via an abnormally “steep” staircase, and therefore dangerous with luggage. This is true for the rooms on the 1st floor and even more so for those on the 2nd. In addition, it is necessary to leave your shoes before going upstairs.
Room 18 has two windows opening onto fiber cement roofs. The shower faucet is leaking, the sink faucet is loose, and the top of the toilet tank does not match the tank.
This hotel does not deserve its ranking.

Definitely more backpacker suited. Limited toilet roll, shower hit and miss re water flow and temperature. Room not cleaned, so nothing replenished. Positioned on a busy crossroads so very noisy as balcony doors close with a gap between them. Food is good, though.

We stayed here for 2 weeks and were so sad to leave all our new friends who work here. Every day we looked forward to the smiling faces that awaited us for breakfast and again when we came back from the many activities around the area. The hotel was clean with a great location, restaurant was delicious, and the staff were amazing. We will definitely be back:)

Great place to stay in the centre of Thakhek. Beautiful decorated and restored colonial style building and just a stone throw away from the mighty Mekong.
We stayed in the suite and it was well worth the money. Large rooms, huge showers and a enormous balcony overlooking the busy street below.
Good choice of food options around from riverside restaurant to local no fuss noodle shops - all within walking distance of the hotel.
Rooms are comfortable and clean.
Only downside being in the centre of town is the street noise and unfortunately the windows can't block out. Definitely not for light sleepers.

Very hard to understand the staff in the lobby.. They just dont seem to care.. and the rooms are very dusty and noisy.. if you like a good night sleep, it is best to find another place.. not very pleasant, certainly not for the price! The price simply dont match the quality. looks good on the outside but you get disappointed

Having travelled in the south of Laos many times over the last ten years for work and private purposes, we were very happy to read about the new Inthira Hotel in Thakhaek (Khammuan province), strongly recommended by Lonely Planet. Before leaving from Vientiane, we made a reservation by phone with Mr. Thavone, managing director of Inthira Hotel, for the night of August 9 for my self, my wife and our two kids. When arriving at the hotel after a road trip through heavy monsoon wheather, we were happy to find this stylish place indeed. However, Mr. Thavone had only to say that he had given away the room we reserved to someboy else (sic). We really hope that this was a one-off mishap and not repeated in the future.

We stayed here twice but the second time only because Thakek lacks a simular affordable alternative and I think that is what is why this hotel is being booked. Rooms are clean and beds are comfi, however staff was the unfriendliest and even arrogant. Never experienced anything like in during three months in Asia. On asking if we could leave our bags in the hotel while doing the loop one could see she did not understand the question, but being busy with a Finger in her nose it was easier to say no instead of asking a colleague for help. After the looo we booked two more nights which we would not have done if there was an alternative. At breakfast they seemed more annoyed than friendly. When asking for the juice that comes with breakfast the answer was "don't have" (it was freshly squeezed juice and oranges were on the counter so pure lazyness..) on both days... when I pay for it I expect stuff to be available when they put it on the menu especially when having it around so obviously. In my opinion Inthira will have a hard time as soon as an alternativ opens here!
On asking for laundry servive they said its 20.000 kip per kilo which is pretty impudent... went to Wang Wang then for 10.000
