Dear Management, Do you ever read your reviews? You should. If 45 out of 50 people complain about the food, shouldn't that make you rethink your Kitchen setup?? You charge a whopping 85 FJD (about 40 USD!) per day for food. Guests have to pay, no matter if they eat or not! And you serve lousy, mostly cold/semiwarm food without...

Dear NFZ2015, Thank you for your feedback. We read all reviews and take them seriously since they are the best way to see if we are getting it right at the resort. I am not sure where you got your statistics in regards to complaints from. We review our kitchen set up and meals regularly (along with all operations at...

Just across the channel that Manta Ray passes by for food. We saw them 2 days in a role during our stay. Beautiful beaches that can snorkel right outside our room. Friendly and helpful staff and nice meal :)

I visited this island for two nights at the end of a week catching up with friends in Fiji. I had an en suite Bure on the sunset beach, with a delightful outdoor bathroom, its own deck and direct access to the beach. Perfect for a relax before returning home to work. Loved the food: 4 choices for lunch and...

Barefoot is for those that want to get away from it all. I loved the Beach Front tent style bures, watching the sunset on our little deck and really feeling back to nature. The food is absolutely fine, there's plenty of it and when choosing an island in the middle of nowhere at this great price point, expectations can't be...

Wonderful experience - swimming with Manta Ray. Fantastic support from highly professional dive staff, especially Bruce and Sammi. They gave me the confidence to enjoy snorkelling for the first time, I even went on a night snorkelling safari and felt completely comfortable so I could enjoy this fabulous experience - the glowing coral and the dancing lady shrimp will live...

This backpack resort offers nice en-suite tents just at the beachfront. Well decorated with open bathroom, it was a pleasure to stay there even if we needed to ask for a bin, some chairs at the private terrasse and to replace broken lights. The food really needs to be improved but the friendly staff made us enjoy our meals. The...

Here you can snorkle with manta rays (if youre lucky) they werent there during my stay! Nice food, but you pay for it!! No place to relax on hammocks only the sand if you want to be eaten alive by bugs and ants. Good place for diving and viewing the reef however nothing is offered free here like other resorts....

Me and my husband stayed for 4 days and 3 nights in the beachfront bure on the sunset beach. The view of the beach is absolutely gorgeous and a delight to wake up to in the morning. The rooms are nice and basic. Manta ray snorkeling was conducted very professionally and is a must do. It was definitely a highlight...

Dear Barefoot Manta Team, we would like to thank you for what was one of the most amazing stays during our entire 9 month travel. We loved everything on the island from arrival to departure. We did not mention it during our stay, but we actually got engaged on your beautiful island. So for all boyfriends out there who are...

We had an awesome stay here. They new our names and we even spoke to the manager. We had two beachfront bures which was only negative for our family of two adults and two children aged 11 and 13 as there were only queen beds in rooms. Manta Ray Snorkel was awesome, snorkelling in front of resort awesome, meal plan...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Going Barefoot" is about the feeling of freedom and living in harmony with our environment. We don't refer to our island as a "resort". Our eco-lodges are about living simply and sustainably. Rather than a tourist destination run by technology, Barefoot is a concept fuelled by feeling. Our island is deliberately uncomplicated, unfussy and unpretentious. For both guests and staff, the sensational natural environment - land, sea and air - brings about a special frame of mind - carefree, receptive and aware. Barefoot Island, known traditionally as Drawaqa Island, lies in the Southern Yasawa Islands of Fiji. The breath-taking coral gardens, situated just off the coastline are amongst the finest in the world. We offer visitors a tranquil environment, with the gentle sound of the waves lapping the shore. Our eco-lodge is the perfect destination for nature lovers in search of a one of the few Fijian islands unspoiled by man. Guests can expect unparalleled manta ray safaris in one of the best locations for dive enthusiasts: spectacular snorkelling and excursions, beautiful coastal and forest trails, visits to nearby Fijian villages, kayaking...the list is endless. Step onto our island and lose yourself in the world of Blue Lagoon and Castaway. Allow yourself to settle into "Fiji Time," and you'll come to discover a virtual treasure trove of things to explore - both on land and in the surrounding waters. ... more   less
