One night here has spoilt me for other B&b's. Dreamy beds with quality linen and down pillows, a glorious breakfast. High-speed wifi and hosts happy to make time to show my 7 and 9 year old girls how to find secret passages and a dungeon! I certainly recommend it and hope to return.

We had a lovely stay at Barcaldine Castle, with it living up to all of our expectations. The room decor was great, the views awesome, the breakfast very tasty and filling, and the hosts (Ronnie and Liz) made us feel at home from the moment that we arrived. We will definitely be returning here next time that we visit the... More

We stayed 3 nights at the "black castle" - on the top floor. Our loch and mountain view was amazing. The antique furnishings and amenities were beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed visiting with Liz and Ronnie, reading, and relaxing in the peaceful, period drawing room. As with any castle accommodation, there are many winding steps to your... More

My husband and I visited Scotland for our honeymoon in December of 2011. We wanted to celebrate my birthday (Christmas Eve) somewhere extra special. We booked three nights in the Caithness Suite which is the top suite and we signed up for the Christmas Package. Little did we know we signed up for the most decadent, luxurious, memorable and delicious... More

This was booked as a birthday surprise by my wife and what a wonderful surprise. We stayed for a week and would have happily stayed longer. Set in it's own peaceful grounds with a beautiful loch in the ''back garden''. The castle has been tastefull decorated with some quality period furniture and features. Both our room and the communal areas... More

A dream come true to stay in a real castle with secret passages no less. . Ronnie and LIz made us feel like royalty from the first moment we arrived. We spent one night at the Castle for my husband's 50th birthday and all we can say was that it was an amazing experience. We had been touring the Outer Hebrides on our Harley Davidson bikes before coming back to the mainland, and my husband had no idea where we were going when we rode up to the Castle. The... More

I spent two night at Barcaldine (Argyll room). It's a small and beautiful castle. The rooms are clean, well decorated and very confortable. Breakfast is excellent. Overall, this is really a charming place to stay. And don't worry, I did not see or hear any ghost in the Argyll room ... PS : You'll need a car if you want... More
