Matangi Island was everything we had hoped for. A quiet, intimate, upscale getaway with breathtaking nature and 5 star service. The food exceeded our expectations. We ate a different menu every lunch and dinner and everything was prepared perfectly. The wine selection is excellent. We loved the pool area. It was almost always empty, and the daybeds are so relaxing.... More

The staff at Matangi Island gave us the perfect honeymoon! The food was great. The cocktails were amazing! The bures were gorgeous. If you want to do activities, there is plenty to do. Snorkeling, hiking, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, kayaking, village tours, kava sessions, spa treatments, waterfall tours, private picnics, and so much more! Or if you don't want to... More

We stayed with our new friends California Justin & Paula while at Matangi. They were grate fun and great to dive with. We wanted to say so much about this place that Justin & Paula have said everything that we would have said, so let their words remain true. You have to see this place to believe it and the... More

My wife and I were at Matangi for 8 nights in late September/early October. While I'm not veteran world traveler, I've been on several dozen vacations across Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and all across the US Mainland. This was my favorite and most enjoyable vacation to date and my second trip to Fiji. Matangi is REMOTE. 747 from Los... More

There is simply no excuse for a resort, that charges 700 usd per night, to serve food that is frankly worse than airplane food. Let me describe to you the ordeal that is dinner at Matangi: Night 1: We were served some seafood medly, which was tasteless and rubbery and was served in a sickly milky white fluid - inedible... Have you ever gone to a resort and been sad to leave because you will miss the people that worked there? That is the experience you will have at Matangi. I'm sure there are more luxurios resorts in the Fiji Islands but if you are looking for intimacy, great food, warm and friendly people and just enough activities between relaxing... More

My partner and I spent three weeks in Fiji. We stayed in various resorts, ranging from budget to luxury. Matangi was by far the worst. Indeed, I can honestly say that I have never stayed in such a bad hotel because: Food: - Diabolical. I have had better food on budget airlines. The quality is very poor and the choice... More

My husband and I went to Matangi for our honeymoon, and were rewarded with one of the best trip of our lives. It was quite a production to get there; three planes, a van ride down a rustic road, and then a boat - but many of the best places in the world a wee bit hard to get to.... More

We stayed at Matangi for one week. My husband and I traveled with another couple, and together we rented the two bedroom villa. The villa sits on a section of garden that juts out over the water, it is about a 10ft rocky rise from the water's edge. The villa itself is about 25 feet from the water's edge. There... More

We and my husband went to Matangi for our 1st anniversary celebrations for 7 days. Right from the moment we arrived it was pure bliss. We were picked up from Taveuni airport in a van and crossed the island for about 30 min before taking a boat ride for 20 min to Matangi Island. We were greeted by the staff... More
