No, I can't think of anything detrimental to comment on. From being absolutely spotlessly clean throughout, the attentive staff and good food the Charles Cotton delivers on all levels. Everywhere is cosy, warm and welcoming with a well stocked bar a good breakfast to start the day off well. Oh! I've just thought of something...be careful accessing the car park,... More

Short break for 2 nights. Easy check in. Room was very comfortable. Good en-suite. Nice toiletries. Lovely large fluffy towels. Excellent tea making facilities. Plenty of tv channels. Hairdryer in draw. Wifi good but make sure you get the code from the bar. Excellent bar choice for drinks and make sure you get the settee's by the fire. Feel free... More

Stayed here for two nights Friday and Saturday. Nice warm hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very filling. Right in the centre of Hartington. Very good location for walking. Car park at the red of the hotel. We had a rear view room looking out onto distant hills.

We went to the Charles Cotton Hotel on a two night voucher break. When we arrived we were checked in quickly and without any fuss, we requested a room with a walk in shower and our room was changed immediately. Our room was in the annexe. The room was a good sized room, the decor was lovely and restful, could... More

The Charles Cotton Hotel is a quaint small hotel (an inn would be a more accurate description) located centrally in the pretty village of Hartington. The Charles Cotton possesses a very comfortable bar offering bar/bistro dining plus there is a larger dining room which was only used for breakfast during our stay. The food was good quality and plentiful pub... More

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Unusually the towels were thick and large. If only more hotels took notice of this small item that means so much. The murals painted on the walls were absolutely beautiful. Food was good. The entrance to the car park as tight if you have a very big car . We stayed in the... More

Visited Charles Cotton with my wife on a two night mid-week voucher break. Loved pretty much everything. Bar is warm and inviting. Staff are clued up, helpful and friendly. Food was good and setting is idyllic with many and varied country walks. Allowing dogs just added to our enjoyment (although sadly ours passed away in September). Kudos to the management.

The so called bathroom was housed in a cupboard and the shower, which was no more than a dribble, was disgustingly dirty. The thermostat on the radiator did not work so the room was boiling hot. The cooked breakfast was cold. The coffee was undrinkable so we ordered a latte for which we were charged extra! The freshly cooked to... More

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the superior rooms in the annex. We loved everything about the hotel - stone fireplace with log burner in the bar, comfy leather sofas, beams, and choice of beers. The food was excellent, although we'd have liked a bit more choice for evening meal. Most of all the staff were lovely. We... More

The room was on the small side, it was ok but a bit tired. The double bed was uncomfortable and we both had trouble sleeping. It did have on en-suit that was clean but my wife could not work out how to get a comfortable shower. After being soaked in cold water I eventually got some hot water but it... More
