Room was adequate, but we found a lot of dusty surfaces; in particular the dado rail and top of wardrobe. Unfortunately, there was a noisy air con unit below and opposite our room which went on and off all night. The hotel information brochure said that food was available 12 - 9.00pm, and we tried to order a snack in...

Stayed for just one night after a great snowy day of walking in the surrounding hills. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Had food in the bistro in the evening, which was lovely and the only slight downside was the terrible karaoke from a birthday party in the restaurant. Breakfast was also great, although the staff were very slow in...

On the face of it, this place is alright. Quaint little village and lovely looking building. Unfortunately for us we turned up after a long drive to find out there would be a 21st birthday party that night - having not been informed prior to arrival we didn't really have a choice - it was snowing out and we were...

Booked this hotel for a birthday weekend away with my partner and dog, we were looking specifically for a dog friendly hotel and thought this looked perfect. Booking.com did not specify or have the option to book a specific dog friendly room but stated pets were allowed, So i naturally wrote in the special requests section that I would be...

Overall a very enjoyable stay - remote but characterful and traditional - location wonderfully placed for Dales walking/ biking/exploring the hotel provides a safe/comforting and welcoming base. Credit to a young and willing team who gave us a creditable effort - so much so that we will be back - not because we can point to anything exceptional - but...

2 nights in hartington as a mid-week break. very relaxing stay; excellent food, very friendly staff, fabulous location and overall a very pleasant experience. enjoyed the fact that unlike premier inn/ travel lodge type hotels the atmosphere was not 'corporate' and staff not over-trained in customer responses. whilst chain hotels are undoubtedly, in the main, very good value they do...

Stayed here for one night and told the hotel had a new chef and had a very limited menu that night but the food was very good. Breakfast next day was very nice and we decided to stay another night. There was a much wider menu that evening and we had starters and mains the food and presentation was excellent...

We have just returned from a 2 day break. The break included breakfast which was excellent, we also ate in the restaurant on both evenings - thoroughly recommended! The staff were friendly, the service was good and the drink and food prices were not expensive. A good base for exploring this particular part of Derbyshire.

Stayed in the cottage at the rear of the hotel. The accommodation was very good, clean, warm comfortable. We could not fault this in anyway. We ate in the restaurant, which was a delightful setting...however being the only couple there lacked any atmosphere. The food; fish and chips was well presented and had tasty. We moved into the bar and...
