My wife and I wanted a quiet relaxing break in the new year. We booked direct and having viewed the video on the website looked forward to a deserved break with eager anticipation. I have waited a month to post this review, as I had hoped someone from the management would contact us. We left a day early and upon... More

Visited mid January for a quick lunch. All round very disappointing. One of the party had translucent prawns in a sandwich, clearly not cooked. It was replaced. The remaining sandwiches were poor bacon and Brie, had the thinnest slice of Brie and the bacon would have been nice it it was browned slightly, instead it was pale and uninteresting. The... More

Stayed here for two nights in January. We booked it with Secret Escapes. We were very impressed with the deal we had. Hotel is lovely in a beautiful village. Room was small and cold but very clean and we were out and about all the time so it was fine. Breakfast was included and very nice it was. Fresh fruit... More

We have very recently returned from a 3 night short break at this delightful Derbyshire hotel. It has an ambiance that well reflects its long history. The rooms and facilities are good, the staff keen and helpful. Food, we only ate breakfast at the hotel, was good without being exceptional; hot, reasonable quantity, well-cooked. Our room, one of the Classic... More

This was not our first visit to this great hotel & it definitely won't be our last. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome by the friendly staff & management. As this is a dog friendly establishment, we always take ours with us & she was welcomed with treats & lots of fuss. We had... More

Me and my wife stayed on new years eve and couldn't fault it. They honoured our booking, despite it being allowed to go through incorrectly via booking.com. They accommodated my wife's dietary requirements, she's gluten and dairy free and we had a lovely 3 course meal. The staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere was nice and... Booking went smoothly for what was a last minute get away as a result of unexpectedly securing a babysitter for NYE. The room was well appointed and comfortable if a little small. Bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and accommodating. The stay included a gala dinner and breakfast. We were not informed in advance that it was 'captain's table'... More

Tried to book a Sunday Stopover back in October, did not receive a reply so booked another hotel for the date that I required. Received an email some weeks later informing me that my booking was lost in the spam mail. I was informed that if I booked another date I would be upgraded free of charge and so tempted... More

We had the dinner bed and breakfast deal for 2 nights over the new year which was brilliant value for money and were gutted when it was over. the food was amazing and service... More

Firstly I should say that due to the curt and abrupt way we were dealt with, we immediately left and therefore I am unable to comment on the quality of food or drink. After a long walk we were hoping to find somewhere for coffee and maybe a mince pie. We spotted a sign outside the hotel advertising tea and... More
