Stayed here on on the night of 20th August .....in the annex ! 3 adults staying in one room .... Only 2 mugs on the tray , 2 sets of towels for a useless shower ..... Paying a fortune , for us ,for a small room. And NO wifI in the annex . Lying in bed we looked up at... More

We booked superior room, it was most definitely not! This was in the annex and was clean but by no means superior! We couldn't get the shower to work, and the noise from the fan and shower unit was dreadful for us and our neighbours. Delayed getting up because it would probably have woken them up. The evening meal was... More

Very very disappointing. We had visited this hotel in 2015 but the ownership changed hands in June 2016. Jury in 2015 had shown us around and we had arranged for us to have 3 nights in the front corner room on the first floor (now room no. 4) this was the only room we wanted to stay in at Hartington... Six of us are here on Saturday 13th August. The fish cakes were hard like bullets and very bland, the scallops were cool, the rib eye was overcooked. However, the worst thing was my mothers meal - she asked for a starter as her main (as she has a small appetite), plus a portion of chips. The chips were delivered... More

Booked a superior room, but it was not very special. Breakfast was cold. Meals were referred to as exceptional on their website, but food was very average and menu choice poor. Hartington is fabulous, especially for walking,

Oh gosh! Where do I start? My husband booked this as a surprise for our wedding anniversary and on arrival I pleasantly anticipated a wonderful stay. Because it was a late booking apparently the only room available was a 'dog friendly' room. This was fine in itself, but incredibly basic and in the annexe. It had a lino floor and... More

Our WI went here for Afternoon Tea a few days ago. There were 16 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed an amazing Afternoon Tea which cost £9.95! We had a little wait between being served with tea and coffee before the food arrived but it was well worth it. With 3 different sorts of sandwiches, homemade jam and cream... More

We booked this place rather late for a group and the management were very happy to have us. The hotel is in a lovely little village and is Grade II i believe. Rooms are nicely appointed, but a mixture of styles with no set theme. Clean but lacking facilities, mostly no phones in the rooms and no internet. Also because... More
