Marialena Hotel is a family business and the host makes you feel like you are part of the family. This friendly place is located in Potos two minutes walk to the beach, two minutes walk to the commercial center of the city. The location is quite good, close to the main road but because of the good orientation you are not disturbed by the cars noise. The rooms are clean and the sheets are changed every two or three days. You can eat only the breakfast on the terrace of the hotel if you want.it is a very tasty breakfast, cooked by the host. Or you can go and eat at one of the taverns from the center whenever you want, because is very close to them. Also they have a nice poll in the yard, if you are to lazy to go to the beach. But it will be a pity, because the beach is very clean and the water is amazing. As a conclusion, if you want a nice place where you can enjoy a very friendly environment at a decent price, you can chose this location.

Stayed for 14 nights. Rooms are not large but perfectly adequate. Cooking facilities and fridge provided but with so many restaurants nearby we ate out every night. Free use of safe but air conditioning is an extra. Free wi-fi in reception.Rooms (and hotel in general) kept very clean and tidy. Decent size pool with sunbeds but close to beach anyway. What really makes this hotel is the mother and daughter owners, Helene & Marialena. They are so friendly and helpful. Ideal location, close to centre of Potos but in a quiet side road.

We stayed at Hotel Marialena on Thassos for 7 nights in May. It is a local family owned business now in its 3rd generation of operation in a central location for the small town, beaches and amenities. From arrival to departure this was a first class experience for us and excellent value for money. The owners and staff were very helpful and we were right at home straight away. Helen, the proprietor, was charming. She was a fund of local knowledge and useful, accurate recommendations. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble for her or her family in making our stay enjoyable. The building was modern, clean, quiet and well fitted for our self catering holiday (we didn't cook anything - too may good places to eat out for that - but could have). The pool was excellent, as was the adjacent bar area. There is a good free Wi-Fi system. Potos is about 1 hour from the ferry port in the north by transfer coach. That isn't a problem as it provides a good scenic drive around the west coast. We didn't use the town beach very much, it wasn't secluded enough for us, but we walked to San Antonio or Limenaria and to other secluded beaches along the coast with a simple to use bus service. Best Taverna near the Hotel was Taverna Irene. Best at San Antonio beach was Sea Breeze. Best in Limenaria was Taverna Mouragio. All have good sea views and are just right at sunset. Tip - if you enjoy Greek food ask what 'specials' there are; often dishes are available but not shown on the printed menu. As with any Greek Island you should also check out reviews from visitors who were there around the time of year you are planning for. Would we go again to Hotel Marialena or recommend it to friends? Absolutely.

stayed at this hotel as we had friends in Potos. The owner and her daughter were very kind and polite and nothing was to much trouble for them. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were spacious with private balcony. There is also a swimming pool with nearby loungers which I did not use but the pool looked very clean. You can have breakfast in the bar/dining area which we had every morning and enjoyed. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from the beach and there is plenty of bars and restaurants for lunch and dinner. The best one has to be "IRENES TAVERNA" we ate there a few times and it was always the busiest one. C&S from Scotland

We have stayed for 7 nights without breakfast in Hotel Maria, Potos in August and we have enjoyed every day. The Hotel is located very close to the center of fun but not so close to here the noise of music and people so this is great. During the night it's silence so we get some nice sleep. The room was clean and we had the towels changed once but it was not so bad. It has a small kitchen inside so you can cook breakfast of storage some things in the fridge. The balcony is quite big so you can leave many things outside. The Wi-fi was available only in the lobby. We didn't visited the pool because the beach was very close.

The staff was very rude and unfriendly to us, they don't have any respect for the confort of the guests, every morning, around 7-7.30 they would shout to each other when they came to work. Another disturbing factor of our trip was the proximity of the parking, all day and all night, we would have to listen to cars starting, stopping, the parking gate clashing. The balcony of room 106, in which we were hosted, was exactly near the stairs, so in the morning, when the cleaning ladies dusted the carpets all that dust was all over our food. We tried to talk to the ...manager, but without any success. At night, we could hear every step of the neighbours upstairs, it was very difficult for us to get some sleep. I'm sorry I can't say anything positive about this hotel. It's a pitty, since is relatively new and rather well maintained. On the other hand, the beach and the water are absolutely perfect, the food in the taverns the same.

Toilet didnt flush so we had to poop on our poop, and our whole room smelled like it. We told the personel, and they promised that someone would come and make it work. Never happened. Beds were hard as rock with strings, pillows were terrible, like sleeping with a big white rock. Room was full of little flying bugs, the wifi was working only in our dreams. The only good thing was the location. I cant help to wonder, why are these people giving good grades on this hotel, or are they just fake. So if you want good location and dont mind these kind of things, this just might be the hotel you are looking for.

I stayed here while visiting my Sister who lives in Theologus and couldn't have been happier. The rooms, the bar, the pool - all spotlessly clean and Helena, Maria, and Marielena are all just friendly, wonderful people. There is no restaurant but there are many wonderful taverna's within a few minutes walk and the bar is the perfect venue for a late drink at the end of the evening. This a quiet, great value hotel and I can't recommend it highly enough.
